Hey, game is not so bad and some mechanics are realy good but i had performance issues during battle with bigger one, game almost freeze. Overall nice work done!
Perfect difficulty/enjoyment balance for me. Enjoyed discovering different tile effects and blasting away the bosses. Fun end. I got slowddown a lot, especially when spamming shoot, though was manageable with tight and understandable gaameplay / feedback. As soon as I started and the music started banging on my headdphones I was having fun! Thank you and great job
This game is cool, the physics of the ball is good, i like the graphics (like the old AMIGA games), there are a few performance issue when i have played in my browser (firefox). The game is fun and challenging, gameplay is classic and fun ! Good job !
Art: The title screen gave me big nuke dukem vibes. I liked it! Everything else is pretty straightforward but it works for the game. Mechanics/Fun: You did a good job balancing difficulty and pacing of the game. Good intuitive controls and bouncing around is pretty fun.
There were some big frame drops during the boss fight but it was still playable and smoothed out after. Good job!
pretty cool game, the biggest thing I would say to do is change the background to something that contrasts well with the foreground objects. because of all the noise throughout the art work, the assets start to blend together a little, and it makes it a little difficult to focus (or maybe that's just me). anyways, pretty dope!
Nice! Reminded me of early 2000s games with the 3D-rendered 2D sprites. The mechanics were simple and fun, and all self-explanatory. The boss guy that fires a bunch of bullets in the air made Firefox vomit and crash, but it worked a little smoother on Chrome.
I appreciate your list of tools, I'm always interested to know how others go about doing the jam. I'm going to check some of this out...
Great game @cogcomp really enjoyed it. The "boss" enemy the big one really made me jump when it appeared as I was going in full speed. Got quite far a few times and got a little bit annoyed with myself when I died on some spike, like in the good old days but in modern times a few check points would be great. Well done mate!
Great music :D The speed of the game was a bit too fast for me at times and having the camera glued to the ball made my eyes spin a bit, but I persevered and got past the big enemy and then promptly fell into spikes ^^
Not a bad entry at all ^^
Nice game. At one point there was a little "Death trap" - I did not see the moving platforms I had to jump on and fell into a "room" with no exit, spikes on the right and platforms flying above me. It killed me. Don't know wether that's intentional.
Also, the first boss (as seen in the image in the description) made the game superlaggy.
Still very good and fun overall.
Nice game and cool intro screen. It was satisfying sound effect and feedback when hitting enemies. Lovely soundtrack! I wish the jump pads had different color so it would be easier to recognize them. The movement was a bit too quick and made some spots a bit difficult because it required precision. Great entry!
Very enjoyable motion, and the difficulty and pacing of the level were well tuned. I found the background made it a bit hard to see some enemies, but it was still in keeping with the aesthetics. On a side note, it looks like we both came back to haxe after a long hiatus. How did you find echo? (I went with nape for my game purely because it had more downloads on haxelib.)
Control of the ball felt really good, I had a lot of fun trying to blast dudes while bouncing through the air. The level had some nice variety of enemies and traps, which kept me playing through to the end. The mouse aim felt a little off from where my cursor was. I enjoyed the speed of the ball personally, I think you should play into it and really ramp up the action & intensity in future iterations!
That was a really cool game !
Controls were responsive even if shooting direction was a bit off. The ability to aim either with the arrow keys or the mouse were a pretty nice touch for people testing "on the go", thanks for that.
Gfx were a bit too old-school to my taste but overall it's quite coherent visually and it's not that disturbing.
There is a hard lock zone after the first boss (mentionned by other jammers) and it was (with the flying platform, spikes and "water inertia" block) that felt a bit unfair. Other than that the level design was really nice and diverse.
Overall I really enjoyed playing this one, congratulations on your entry !
Things I liked: - in some cases you introduce new tiles/blocks safely so that the player can figure out what they do before the get to them in a win/lose scenario; very "mega man" style of teaching - music is great - sfx fits the game style - I like the gravity on player bullets
Ideas/suggestions: - The tiles aren't visually descriptive as to what they do; - checkpoints after bosses - don't have scenarios where the player survives a move but is stuck in a situation they cannot get out of without suiciding. If the player needs to pass a test, kill them if they fail rather than have them sit in limbo
Bugs: - I had performance issues with the first boss in both Chrome and Firefox.... it was still playable in chrome; Firefox dropped to less than 1 frame per second.
Шарик, который стреляет другими шариками и уворачивается от третьих шариков. Почти шарикомания!
Веселая игра ^_^
The controls feel nice and the music is cool. The only criticism I have is that the text in the title screen doesn't contrast well with the background making it a tiny bit hard to read. In any event, good job making this game!
Very nice! Got killed by the large, slightly spooky looking boss though. The graphics style of the enemies reminded me a bit of the prerendered sprites in some late nineties bullet hell shooters, cool. Controls were ok, and I liked how the different floor types were introduced. Had sporadic choppy behaviour in Firefox though, especially during boss battle. Altogether: Great work!
The game is very good but i had some performance issues during battle with bigger one, some freezes. Nice work and well done!
Nice game! Sound and graphics are great, and the controls work well. I didn't get very far, but that's just me :)
Love the retro style, graphics and sound works perfectly well together. Had some performance issues fighting the big one. I like it overall:)
