Awesome graphics! Very original idea. But I agree that checkpoints are really needed because it's rather challenging to get to the end without much dying. Also missed some sounds to amplify the mood.
All in all, I enjoyed playing it, great job!
Cool game! As already said, checkpoints would do wonders for this project, but it's a lot of fun regardless. Player controls were very well done, quick enough to keep the pace up but slow enough to build tension around enemies and traps. Could potentially use some visual feedback on the cooldown for switching characters. Really liked this game! Well done!
Haha great work! Creativity at its best, I'm a fan of the swapping mechanic but this game is a struggle to get through without a checkpoint/save system. Some sound would really make this seem more lively!
Great game, love the art! Exciting gameplay, but as previously said, checkpoints would be nice ;) Love the player animations. Well done
Lol, that's pretty sick, I love it. Nice graphics style too. Missing the music a bit, but overall a very nice entry
The base concept is actually pretty innovative. I like it! And quite humorous too!
You know I hate you, right? hahaha :smiley: I lie, I like your games :space_invader: and I lose so many times (as always) but it's fun :frog:
Mmm sausage links. Turns out to be a pretty tough game. I like the graphics, they seem very polished.
They have such funny faces)
Neat concept for a game, and an interesting graphical style! The three-color look really helps make hazards stand out, so you know exactly what to avoid. :)
Unfortunately, I couldn't get very far - Because I had to replay the tutorial every time I died, it meant that I couldn't get much practice at the sections killing me. :(
This was great! Very unique design! I got a good way through before i found out it was okay for the rope(or insides) could touch things.
I love the little expressions that the two frogs have. The mechanics were simple but fun. The lack of checkpoints is a bummer. Especially since the level is pretty long and starts very slow. If the level was shorter but much harder, I wouldn't mind it not having checkpoints. I also think just some simple sounds made in SFXR or LabChirp would have gone a long way. I wanted the creepy organ enemy things to make some weird squelchy noises!
neat! I didn't realize the slower/heavier thing until I read after playing a couple times. The graphics read really well though, and I enjoyed making my way through it. Really impressive!
The art was charming and the level was fun to explore. As a lot of others have said, checkpoints would have made a huge difference. I also never found a need to switch bodies and was expecting more design decisions around the mechanic. You mention a possible full game in the description, and I would love to see it!
As others have stated checkpoints would be cool. Great game though. Simple but really fun. The game was very readable and the objective was clear. The curtains when you die was a nice touch.
Very stylish and definitely expandable. I'd love to see it with added sound effects and music!
Some checkpoints would have been nice though.
So I watch how everyone else was respondign to the feed back and now I get it :'v I'm gonna put your tag first in comment list order so you can find yourself easily.
BUT fisrt, yup, I shuld add some checkpoints or a level system :'v
@team-on - tutorial is too long! or maybe is not, but because of the lack of checkpoints it feels really tedious u.u
@mykola - Thank you! Im really trying to improve my pixel art u.u Yas, I'll add some sounds to enhance the gaming experience :)
@nick-rasmussen - You are right! Adding that will help the player know when she or he can change the body, I also need something to make the player understand that the dead body is gaining weight :/
@blipbloop - it is a struggle :'v
@batswinger - animation is my passion D:< thanks :3
@philarmon - yeah its a shame the lack of music and effects u.u nest LDJam I'm gonna use my time more efficiently
@moolamu - Yay :D thanks :3
@cadstor - you luv me dont say that :v
@wheffle - Thanks! I work hard on them :'v really wanted to make a simple but roughy look
@afi-olya - I specially like the one they make when dying xD
@koolruz - I'm sorry, I know u.u players ca't practice being against any mosnters because of the lack of checkpoints or levels :/ The color is great, stole the idea from Downwell and used it here :)
@jakemchugh1 - heheh yeah, I should make that clear too, that or make the sausages feel the horrible pain too, although I believe this would make the game extra difficult, so I may leave it like that :P
@blushine - You got it, yeah, it's not necessary a lack of checkpoints, I like the idea of having levels more than the idea of having checkpoints. The lack of sound effects is a bummer but when added I know it will only make things better :) I too like the expressions were fun to make :D
@stephan-steinbach - I know!!! that is a really bad design xD I don't know how to make the player understand that in an easy and playable way, I have to think about it.
@zfert - Yes, welp, when the fish enemy comes(this one follows you), you should feel the necesity, the dead body gets heavier and heavier over time, so in order to run away you will change bodies, BUUUUUUUUUUUUT I don't make a really good job in teaching that mechanic :/ (and still don't know how I'm gonna teach it :'v)
@tyler-anders - Transitions always make the game better :v, and yas, I need to add something to fix the cruelty of the game with the player >:D
@youbestrong - You just wait! When the adventure jam is done I'm gonna work in this tittle to make it a complete game(that is mostly adding just audio and levels :v)
WOW that's a lot of people, thank you all for playing my game, I really want to make good things, if you have a "mean" commentary or a "really hard" critic please be welcome to say it , this will make me improve. I love you all now for taking a time of your life in playing the game and once again thanks for playing you guys are awesome.
haha gruesome yet cool and humorous idea! nice job, I enjoyed it :)
Interesting concept, but I felt like I switched too few times (at least up until the part I got to). More instances of having to switch would make the core mechanic more apparent instead of just dodging all the obstacles.
Fun concept! I really like art style and there's a lot of variety in the enemy designs. Perhaps the keyboard layout could be given some thought for faster gameplay, and also the game would really benefit from some audio (at least I couldn't hear any?).
Cool Mechanics! The art style reminded me of Downwell. The game is very simple and straight forward: dodge the obstacles, swap the inner. But it is actually hard to complete the game. I wish there are some checkpoints (and audio as well).
well made. fun concept and good build up of difficulty through the levels. checkpoints would ease pain from losing after a long run.
Haha thats funny when some character starts to spin :D
Really fun concept. I really love the gameplay. With some more elements I can see there can be more possibilities. The art style is also nice, reminding me of Downwell. Great job!
I like the nugget of this, but I'll echo the need for checkpoints. I quit after a few iterations because, despite wanting to play this all the way through, it's too slow to have to restart so many times.
Nice idea of binding characters to each other. Checkpoints would be nice addition. Audio would be quite nice also.
Nice retro feel to a fun game! Checkpoints... yes please! A little audio would be a welcome addition. Nice job on a unique game.
This is a great concept!! I did find that it was helpful to switch characters occasionally and also found that it was bruuuutal to need to keep restarting. :) But I love the art. Great work.
Getting some nice Downwell vibes from your art style here.
Overall this one gives me mixed feelings. I like the idea you've gone with, but I'm not sold on the execution; it's a neat concept but it doesn't go anywhere. In general the switching mechanic is rarely needed and when it is, it's just for nuisances like navigating around spikes.
Also as others have stated, the lack of checkpoints make playing this a bit of a chore.
Neat little entry though!
Ah man, I was having fun but when I realised those large lines weren't checkpoint, it kind of sapped my motivation ahah; I feel like there could be more use of the main mechanic of switching character, but having them be tethered to one another made for some really stressful (in a good way!) navigation. Also the switching seem to have a timer/downtime, which made it less reactive that the level design wanted me to be, but overall it's well executed, and I adore that art style. Good work!
