This was very nice. Very engaging gameplay. Music, graphics and FX was also very nice. Impressive that you made all this in 48 hours. Very well done!
Good game! Really liked the graphics however didn't realize I could get hit by my own turrets until I got hit by a rail gun XD
It's impressive what you managed to achieve with the Quake World engine!
Now, about the game: - It's not obvious that the guns have friendly-fire. - So, you have to go for the money and be under fire from your guns. - I would love to have extra upgrades like "money magnet" and so on.
Good game!
Fun game! It looks and plays pretty great. Would have liked some indication to where the turrets would be placed before placing them though, took me a second to realize they were relative to camera rotation and not player rotation.
My strategy was to surround myself with shotgun-turrets, which worked until they turned on me: https://imgur.com/a/rgOrZTm
Got the Diamond medal though, so i guess it worked out. diamond.png
Well done!
Thank you all for the comments!
@p0l4r haha, didn't think that strategy would work, thanks for the clip!
Wow! Very good! I liked this one a lot. The graphics were pretty sweet. What did you use to make the 3d models?
First ld50 game I've played for that long, really like it
@benjamin-gare I used blender to make all the models, both blender and gimp for texturing
Best game I tried for now. looks professionnal, gfx, sound, music. This FTE QuakeWorld engine makes me curious. Wel done
Very impressive level of polish. The models, VFX, audio, UI, all work well together to make the game look cohesive and professional. And that's with a 3D game! Gameplay is great as well, if a little un-original. Though I really like that the turrets have friendly fire which adds another element of strategy and depth in where you place them. Perhaps some more bug variety would be nice as well, they all seem quite similar but with different health. Minor things though, very well done!
Cool game! I like the graphics and the sfx! Did make me feel like you could do something more with the mechanics, but all in all a solid jam game!
I enjoyed discovering how the different turrets worked and seeing their unique graphical effects a lot! What could've enhanced the game further may have been to have an incentive to leave the camp (maybe there is one and I missed it though), as you could potentially just stand around and spam turrets. But then again - it's about an engineer, what did I expect :D
This was really awesome! It's a rock solid tower defense with little twists like having to go out to collect the money, and friendly fire. I played this longer than any other game by far. Awesome job!
Hey! The game is enjoyable to play)
I felt a flow for some time, but any time after I noticed that difficulty doesn't grow up, it frustrated a bit.
I suppose it would be useful addition to implement waves with difficulty increasing and maybe give enemies opportunity to damage "towers", or for only for some of them. Anyway, great job!
thanks again for all comments!
@wild-fat the difficulty does scale up over time, you'll notice it from 1) more enemies spawning per group, 2) enemies getting replaced with a tougher different color variants, after some time you won't be able to one-shot pretty much any of the 3 types even with a rail gun. you will get overwhelmed eventually unless you found one of the many exploits that keep you safe lol
I managed up to 341, it was really fun and well made!
- Left hand is controlling movement and placing turrets, it gets pretty awkward. Right hand is for mouse, but I found myself not using it alot. Perhaps game could be switched to fixed perspective, so right hand can be arrow keys, left hand for 1-5.
- Or, since the player just moves and dodges around (no action oriented gunplay, etc.), then left hand is just WSAD movement, while mouse can be used to drag and drop turrets, walls, etc. (also on fixed perspective)
This was really fun! You did a great job of giving the "doomed last stand" vibe, between the music and the swarms coming in from all sides. I liked the variety of turrets and enemies, and I think the money drops were great for making me leave the shelter of my base regularly whenever there was a lull in the attacking wave. A potentially easier control scheme could be clicking to place a turret, and just changing which turret type is selected with either the scroll wheel or the number keys. This was a great entry, nice work!
Very solid game, pacing was exciting and frantic. The idea of a turret placement mob wave survival is incredibly unique and well executed. Super fun!
It reminded me of Crimsonland and similar games, with the unique mechanic of placing guns rather than being the gun. I found myself playing over and over, and I still haven't gotten the better-than-gold medal.
I found I could get stuck in the wall on the north side of the starting circle of walls, which is frustrating.
Otherwise, I really enjoyed the combination of unending waves of enemies, the inevitable destruction of the guns I was placing, and the ability of the guns to hurt you if you are in the way, which affected how I wanted to experiment with placing them from one attempt to another. The risk/reward of running out into the open to collect extra money is a nice dynamic, as well. I found that I enjoyed combining the shotgun with the cheaper machine gun early on until I could afford the better weapons.
I found myself wishing there was more player feedback so I could know if I was getting hurt, although I loved the shaky health bar feedback when the grenade launcher/RPG accidentally hits you.
The eventual decay of placed turrets meant that any solid defense I construct will eventually give way if I don't keep an eye on it, so I am constantly on the move not only to avoid enemies but also to build replacements as soon as I see a need for them. The action is constant, and the energy is fantastic. Well done!
