I love your artstyle, and overall a pretty good game

lofipop 2024-10-08 15:53

Thanks a lot @abex !

whyitss 2024-10-08 16:54

Art style is super cool! Sound design is great as well. simple enough for even me to understand the gameplay. Really well done for the time limit!

chocolat-endive 2024-10-08 16:57

First time in my life I play a game where a beetle tell me "on s'fait chier". :D The game seems to be working quite well. It would have been nice to have the tutorial at the beginning of the game and not just when pressing escape.

Good job!

mrantoinest 2024-10-08 17:00

I really like the Artstyle and cool Concept ! Also funny for the voices

PS : Vous avez l'air d'être français vue les voix présents dans le jeu, good jobs guys, ça m'a bien fait rire !

lofipop 2024-10-08 18:22

Thanks everyone ! About the dialogue parts, yes our voice actors nailed it, shout out to them ! Also, for french people out there : most of us are from the "Silence, on joue" discord, so some quotes might be podcast references ^_^

crozzy 2024-10-08 20:32

A wonderful implementation of the theme. I really liked the style of the game and the music with the sounds. A wonderful game))

codeserk 2024-10-08 20:34

really cool artstyle! c'est carre!

cat-lab 2024-10-09 05:00

Love the art style and the vibes! I wasn't really sure what to do for a while and then I somehow ended up losing with 0 points. Took me a bit to figure it out. But a really cool entry!

gabomax 2024-10-09 15:40

Thanks for all your reviews about the game. I see the artstyle and the music is what come most of the time in the comments thanks.

mrbananaz 2024-10-09 16:25

Great art style and music, our team salutes your french cuisine tastes!

pointman 2024-10-09 17:59

Thanks for all review and great comments

daria-toni 2024-10-09 21:23

I couldn't figure out why I couldn't turn around with a mouse, I thought something was broken, and then it turned out that the rotation only works with a gamepad hah. You see, I really wanted to try this! First of all, the game looks absolutely amazing, I really like this style and for some reason I love when some things are made as a plane that is always turned towards a player. Cute story, cute bugs. The gameplay is a bit chaotic, but that's how it should be in a cooking simulator IMO. The only negative for me is that the sensitivity of the camera rotation is too high (maybe it's just me?)

kadokta 2024-10-09 21:29

Pretty fun. Has a little horror atmosphere.

splittheatom 2024-10-10 07:57

Hi @daria-toni, thanks for the feedback! Very strange that you couldn't look around with the mouse, we haven't heard of that issue with anyone before so sorry if it didn't work out for you. Have you tried restarting the game ? Thanks for playing :)

roitchie 2024-10-10 08:34

Wow I love this. It's got a bit of that overcooked vibe with stuff going wrong and having to manage the customers and the electricity going out and making the food. The character designs are amazing. I never knew I needed sophisticated cockroaches in my life until now and them speaking in French is just the cherry on top. Well done!

daria-toni 2024-10-10 09:27

@splittheatom Later I found out that it was my technical problem, my graphic tablet somehow conflicts with the mouse control, I partially solved this problem for now. So don't worry about your game!

splittheatom 2024-10-10 11:15

Aah that makes sense, glad you figured it out :) We tried to crush most of the bugs (no pun intended) but it's always good to get feedback to improve the game! Thanks a lot :)

splittheatom 2024-10-10 11:16

Hey @kadokta, thanks for the feedback! Glad you liked our little change of atmosphere, we thought it would add more depth to the restaurant experience!

splittheatom 2024-10-10 11:17

Wow thanks so much for the kind feedback @roitchie ! Really happy you liked it :)

zzangshil 2024-10-10 13:41

The grathichs look really cool and the game is fun, great job guys

petr-vejchoda 2024-10-10 13:43

That was cool. I like the art. Somehow it reminded me of the recruitment scene from men in black ...

janinna21 2024-10-10 13:45

I really enjoyed this one! The graphics are fantastic, and I found the interface user-friendly and straightforward. It’s cool that the game requires you to step outside to repair the power occasionally, adding a unique element to the gameplay. The atmosphere became particularly eerie when the music stopped and the lights in the city started blinking—it was quite a creepy effect! The gameplay has a nice flow, but it could benefit from a slightly faster tempo to elevate the excitement level. With this adjustment, it could truly become an exceptionally well-done game. Keep up the great work!

splittheatom 2024-10-10 14:51

thanks so much for the detailed review @janinna21, it was a pleasure to read :) For the difficulty ramping up, you are right - it was tough to balance the difficulty so it doesn't get overwhelming too quickly but also not tooo boring. The way it works is that there is a Game Manager that ramps the difficulty over time. After 45 seconds (it gives new players time to acclimate or experienced players time to prepare a bit more), it starts adding 1 level to 1 random customer. It then does so every 30s. The levels go from 0 (no orders) to 3. On level 1, the customer orders only one plate. On level 2, 1 to 2 plates and on level 3, 1 to 3 plates (randomly). We also adjust waiting times and time to order according to the levels. This helps make every game a bit random. I think we should change the values on higher levels so it gets even more hectic at the end! Anyway, thanks for playing :)

obidiix-minusinfinity 2024-10-10 20:01

The game has a really good artstyle and feels really well polished, I really liked the sounds too. Only "complain" I have it's that the first 30 seconds of the game I didn't know what to do as the customers were not ordering stuff, and also I didn't know where the power lever was but that's because I wasn't smart enough to follow the cable

janus 2024-10-10 20:25

The basic idea is very good. The gameplay is clear. UI is unfortunately not always easy to use. Feedback is appropriate. Graphics are well done.

asfdfdfd 2024-10-10 20:32

This game is so addictive that i've found myself playing for half an hour!

fabula-rasa 2024-10-10 20:54

I adore the art on the characters and the dishes! The music is also great. The core gameplay loop is fun and just varied enough to hold interest. However, the difficulty does not seem to increase much overtime and, after you get into the rhythm, it feels like you can just keep going forever. So I figured I will stop at 1000

Would be awesome to have dedicated shelves you could throw your ready dishes to, and they would just "lock" there and wait to be needed - that would make my kitchen much tidier. I also found it much too easy to throw stuff into the garbage. You don't want to know how many perfectly good, ready-made snails ended in the trash by accident

Screenshot_11.jpg

Very nice jam job!

bigstrongddoge 2024-10-10 21:21

The game is hectic! While sometimes there are no orders. I accidentally threw food into the garbage bin, so I had to find another place to keep my food items.

Something about the artstyle seems cool. The difficulty seems fine.

ugly-robot 2024-10-11 00:04

What an amazing little game! The art and audio were so evocative, I could practically smell the bread baking in our little cozy hole-in-the-wall! I'm shocked you have, essentially, a full game loop here - and I absolutely loved getting to view all the wonderful character art. There are some really nice mechanical touches as well - the length of the throw means you can really strategize how to collect ingredients from outside BUT has a double-edged sword of never being able to fully organize (which is fun). The power outages were a great twist, and I'd love to see what new mechanics you would layer on next! Excellent work!

titblond 2024-10-11 13:24

Nice graphics and sound

stmate03 2024-10-11 13:45

The graphics are an absolute charm, the music and sound design is absolutely well done, the game loop and design is superb, I like this game, I like the story behind this game, I like to throw things across the restaurant while yelling "YEET!" in this game, I had a ton of fun, well done to the team!

(Tho I must ask did this game take any inspiration from the animated movie ratatouille? I can see some mild paralells between the game's story and the movie is all, and curiosity got the best of me)

gabomax 2024-10-11 15:49

Thanks for all your positive reviews. (Yes we took inspiration in ratatouille and overcooked for the game happy you saw it)

pimping 2024-10-11 18:07

I want to be gustavo... P.s great game 10/10

p0l4r 2024-10-11 19:29

Great game, chefs kiss!

senso 2024-10-12 07:48

Haha, cockroach MasterChef! The art is sublime, with the 2D sprites in a 3D world. Great lighting, and who could resist snail meat? 😄 I think you’ve created a little gem that could easily be expanded into a full game, a story about a cockroach aspiring to become a master chef! Cooking during the day and scurrying around the city for ingredients at night sounds like a fantastic concept i would play! Oh and the tutorial menu is super smart (This is some good game design).

splittheatom 2024-10-13 09:53

Hi all, thanks so much for playing! Glad you had a blast. Thanks for your feedback we released a patch shortening the start time and making the game more tense when you reach around 1000 points :)

@fabula-rasa @obidiix-minusinfinity

kokostyrko 2024-10-13 12:08

The game has a super cool art style, great sound design, and a fun concept!

tete 2024-10-13 16:39

Very fun game! I like the idea of throwing food at your costumers

sasha20 2024-10-13 21:19

The theme is handled with creativity, and the game’s aesthetic enhances the experience. God Job!

Nice game!!!Very interesting aspects in game !!! Looks Wonderful 10/10!!!

profugo-barbatus 2024-10-21 03:44

Really fun little game, loved it! First run went a bit short because it didn't occur to me to pre-cook foods, did much better run two.

jpatrick 2024-10-21 04:33

Enjoyable game, lovely art style. Great work :)

guilloteam 2024-10-22 16:28

Beautiful game, although quite difficult! It's a nice take on the theme, the mood is great!

creeper-nade 2024-10-24 15:33

Great job! I really like the paper-Mario style of art, as well as the concept of the game!

tetracold 2024-10-24 17:37

Super fun take in the theme the gameplay loop is very engaging and the right amount of chaotic, really enjoyed the loop of gathering ingredients and cooking them fast. I played for a while because I felt compelled to beat my high score. the game feels responsive and very polished, I missed some throws but it was my mistake

the presentation is amazing, love the Paper Mario inspired look, it's also pretty creative with the french theming

really good entry!
