LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Sprite Containment by epb9000 2024-10-20T23:22:40Z

What I was expecting when I saw this game was a player character that can be controlled and paints the terrain, but this is something different and I like it. My only issue is that sometimes the sprites behave unpredictably, other than that, it's an awesome game.

Really good idea for a game. Couple of issues I noticed: Most enemies prefer healing action even if they have full hp. Action selection ui requires a click to select, but then only hovering over a different action will change it. So sometimes its easy to use the wrong action.

I love this idea, I've never seen anything like it. The only issue I had was difficulty getting to higher platforms. There is no going up once you fall down, unless you have a trampoline or a canon but those are expensive.

Probably one of the most unique and creative ideas I've seen so far. The art style is simple, pretty to look at, and fits your idea very well. The soundtrack really adds to the mood. The only difficulty I had was figuring out how to shoot rope after completely ignoring the instructions, however I still managed to beat the game first try. Also I like the idea of gathered organisms as lives. Thanks for your contribution to the jam man.

Amazing game, very addictive. It took me a while to figure out that you can climb up and down. The controls take some time getting used to, mostly because they're named x and o. Also I love the inclusion of 2 player mode. The game is challenging and so far I only beat the first level, but I will play until I beat it. The only bug I found is two hearts disapearing from ui after getting shocked (maybe getting shocked twice in a short time causes it), but it's only visual.

I love your art style and your choice to make a physical card game. I don't know exactly what was your process of creating those cards, but I would like to recommend you a tool Figma. It's a free and browser based tool that I really like, not sure if it's something that's useful to you, but give it a go if it helps you.

I wasn't able to play it because my monitors resolution is too small

Thank you so much for your review @nonigirl.

Because I got sick I had to rush and most of my game was done on the third day. In my original idea, the employees were supposed to go outside and gather resources, and start walking back once you call them. There are the spots where they were supposed to gather. coal2.PNG

Also I wanted a small chance to find an new employee at every stop but again, no time.

Yeah after playing the build I noticed that train rides were taking way too much time. I will definitely adjust the speed as well as resource gathering speed as I didn't have time to test.

As for the audio, I didn't opt out because the only reason for opting out I know of is using 3rd party assets. I didn't use any so I though that it's better to get lower ratings and be fair to others. (Unless I'm wrong, but it's hard to find any info)

I am the greatest ant killer!! (as of now, 273 or something). It's an amazing game that I couldn't stop playing until I got a high score. I also love how you included both playstyles. Probably one of my favorite games so far.
