Great job for your first jam

sherlock527 2019-04-30 03:43

@scalphamission Thanks for playing

ash-ketchup 2019-04-30 06:06

Nice game! Hope you enjoyed making it!

rodstar 2019-04-30 06:23

Great job !

banzi 2019-04-30 07:56

The enemies managed to surround me near the edge so that I wasn't able to move and then they killed me. Think the pause button doesn't work (or the thing in the right corner) and I wasn't able to kill the big enemy, but maybe I am just bad :D.

The game felt good, great job for the first jam!

sherlock527 2019-04-30 15:25

@ash-ketchup Thanks, I absolutely enjoyed making it.

@rodstar Hey thanks for playing.

@banzi I should have made it so you could push them out of the way and limit the number of enemies that can be on the map. I ran out of time and was not able to finish the pause button(I should have deleted it) and the big enemies probably had to much health. Thanks for playing and the feedback.

Great game! Nice art and multiple enemies, very cool and a little bug: pause button doesn't works, whats isn't bad for a initial version

copper-aardvark-games 2019-05-01 01:43

It's a good start. Keep at it, you've definitely got some potential ;)

sherlock527 2019-05-01 01:48

@copper-aardvark-games Thank you, it means a lot.

lomna 2019-05-01 03:15

Can't believe it's your first jam. Nice job!!! The AI is simple yet effective in doing it's job. BTW, can you tell how you made the music? It's awesome.

sherlock527 2019-05-01 03:42

@lomna Thanks for the feedback! I did not make the music which is why I opted out of that category. It was originally made by marma music. Here is a link to the [original asset.](https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/audio/music/electronic/synthwave-music-pack-free-81687)

Pretty good for a start but I quickly found a blob of robots that I couldn't really make a dent in and it wasnt that fun. This video explains how to make that type of game better really well.(the gameplay section not really the visual part) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plj09H-aLOk

fahim-faysal 2019-05-01 04:58

Pretty fun. Even though it's simplistic I like the art. It fits with the game. The BGM is also nice. My only gripe is that the enemies are too big.

mamoniem 2019-05-01 05:10

Nice game! and at some point it becomes tense :D

You've done a good job, not only in picking the game idea, but also in kinda balancing the game, i liked the idea of how many bullet you need to shoot an enemy and what is the return type of battery to get!

I would say the only issue i had while playing that i had the feeling that all enemies almost sharing the same speed, which i guess very similar to the player speed, which made it easy to get stuck in a corner surrounded by all the different types of enemies. I would not mind that scenario, but only if I've the ability to shoot faster, or even shoot more effective bullets with higher damage.

Good job!

keep it up!

clickbait 2019-05-01 10:22

Nice game! its fun and gets pretty hard, great job!

hernandack 2019-05-03 02:30

this game feels good to play and has a nice concept is making it better. sure sometime those enemies are piles up which kinda frustating because the theme itself to reduce energy but it really gives atmosphere, good job

gentel 2019-05-03 03:55

Good work, faking out the enemies to dodge them was fun. Upgrading the gun is definitely important, at the start I was doing nothing but over time I got lots of kills. I was able to survive but it was often pretty close and tense.

To improve, I'd make the upgrade system cleaner (I wasted bullets clicking the upgrade button). And it seemed like the screen got a little too full of robots where more varied combat could be more interesting.

Great game, congrats on finishing your first LD! Thought this game had a nice gameplay loop, the wave based system really works with this type of game. The gameplay was pretty standard issue for the theme, but it's definitely challenging and can hook the player in who wants to find out how long they can survive when surrounded by a lot of enemies. The audio track goes well with the game and adds to the mood. 3.5 overall!

dev-for-pizza 2019-05-03 09:27

Good job for your first LD !

codesity 2019-05-04 21:01

For your first LD isn't it bad! You need to improve some drawing Skills. But in General it looks very good. Good Work!

al-bueche 2019-05-05 02:14

The game is fun, engaging, and pretty well balanced also pretty well. I like that you really need to use both upgrade options to progress and that increasingly demanding enemies push you to do so.

There are a few bugs remaining like the pause button and firing while selecting upgrades. I also missed the upgrade options during my first playthrough (pretty obvious now though).

drlizard 2019-05-05 06:21

Nothing breath taking, but solid well rounded submit for first LD.

oakus 2019-05-05 10:36

Not a bad first entry, good job. Simple graphics and sounds (music was great), functional gameplay with emphasis on upgrades. In my third playthrough I got the the point where the whole screen was filled with enemies that I could all shoot with one bullet but there were so many of them and my gun was so slow and they were spawning so fast, that I just could kill them and they kept on replicating. I couldn't die and we were just cramped on the sceen. Having another upgrade of firing rate and larger emeny damage would solve this greatly.

Well done, especially for your first Ludum Dare! It's super fun and addicting, although I wished that there were some highscore system. Since my scores weren't being saved, I had less of a motivation to keep playing. Also, I felt like there was a lack of direct feedback when you hit an enemy. I felt like you should have had some sort of sound effect or animation to indicate that your bullets were making an impact. It wasn't the most innovative game in the world, although I did like the fact that your health was also your ammo (something that my game and others do as well). The graphics aren't great, but they work for the game and there were a few that I really enjoyed, like the sprite for the player's ray gun. Tip for the future- when doing pixel art, you should aim to use the same pixel size for all of your assets, as it makes for a cleaner looking finished product. It definitely succeeded in fitting the theme with your health also being currency for the shop (although i didn't like the fact that when I clicked to buy something my character shot in that direction) I also appreciated the sort of hectic atmosphere that came with fighting hordes of robots on a platform of fiery doom. Overall well done, I give this game a solid 4 stars!
