Fun game. Nice art, love the teapot trees and the grass. Nice with music.

I'm sorry folks, but I'm really bad at your game, I can't understand how to control the plane properly and I'm not able to go very far. It's really sad since I really wanted to see the environment showed in your screenshot. The art style looks amazing!

I really enjoyed this game and love the art and music. Initially it was a bit hard to get the paper plane to fly, but after a while you get used to it and have fun trying to get the plane to fly as fast as possible. Well done!

Absolutely loved it...well most of it, level 1 was chill and you could get going SO fast you'd go 5km every few seconds, level 3 was amazing and once you picked up speed rocked. Level 2 however.....while I loved the look and feel, the hitboxes were pretty rough, you'd hit a bridge you were nowhere near touching, or clotheslines you couldn't even see pretty often, the spawning of the boosts was often either in the bridge or between two bridges nearly touching making it almost impossible to get, level 2 was basically just waiting for the RNG to give you a level that was winnable. I also had a pretty hard time judging what height the boosts were at sometimes, I think it's the shape, the reason games like starfox use rings is it's easier to line yourself up with a shape like that because you can judge your relation to it easily. I thought i found a bug at first when i finished level 3 at 5.08 and it failed me so i beat it again, getting 10.02 and still failed, so i guess it's just the last level, lol.

HA! I love the *Utah Treepot*. That's a nice detail. The game is a lot of fun! I wish there were speed boosts at higher elevations than like, 4 feet. It's definitely more stressful forcing the player to stay at the ground. It's *only* difficult because of that limitation, and even still it's not too difficult when you get the hang of thigs. I made it to 100Km and decided to end the run. Cool game!

Pretty addictive. Nice job!

Great work - I love the art style! I agree with Raptor that it's tough to line yourself up with the speed boosts. I often found myself flying over or under the boosts when I thought I was headed straight for them. Since it seems like the game only generates a new level after you pick up at least one speed boost, I got stuck once on level 2 when the first speed boost was so far away that I couldn't reach it (although maybe there was a closer one in a spot I just couldn't see), and I had to restart the game from level 1. After that restart, I was able to get to level 3 and complete it. I found a bug when trying to restart: if you quit to the main menu and then click start, the game seems to freeze without showing the paper airplane or generating any obstacles. Overall, I still had a lot of fun with it.

This was an enjoyable game to play! I will admit I was ready to quit when I could barely reach 1km. Then I figured I might as well hit every speed bubble I could come across, and that was the answer to winning! I had to get a good level generation for the second and third levels, but by that point it did feel like an actual game I was beating!

I did think the controls were pretty simple at first, then I got to the point where I considered height and speed as resources I had to manage correctly. With the axes and fences being moving obstacles, my position started to factor in a lot more as well. There were so many times on level 3 I almost beat it and got too confident and ran right into an axe!

Level 2 could be more polished, it is hard to see the overpasses above you as an obstacle, and the clotheslines did not look like hazards until I hit them. I also had some funny glitches where pressing enter to restart caused me to fly under the level, easy enough to properly restart though. Really great work on this game!

I really like the visuals and the music. The gameplay idea is fun, but the way to gain speed needs a bit of work. Overall a interesting and pretty jam game.

Best theme fitting game I played so far. fantastic graphic and modeling. Nice

marin0104 2022-04-16 07:24

Hey there! The idea is really good and fits the theme well.

I've experienced quite a lot of bugs like the power ups didn't respawn after i retry, or if i went back to the menu and started a new game i got not to see my paper plane.

Sometimes i missed the power ups just slightly despite that i expected them to get. I think something like a 3d circle around them make it much clearer how low you need to get.

Would definitely give it another try if these things are fixed!

michaelaranda 2022-04-16 08:45

I dig this interpretation of the theme! The art and music are great.

I found the controls to be too touchy for my taste. I think my brain wanted some kind of analog control over the airplane's pitch. I also found the speed bubble things just slightly too difficult to hit regularly, in part because it's hard to judge the height distance between you and the bubble. Maybe if the next bubble showed up on the altimeter thing on the right, it'd be easier to make sure you're at the correct altitude?

I enjoyed the varied level designs and their unique associated obstacles. Wish some polish and some touch-control implementation, I can legitimately see this being released on app store. Great job!

That last level was a bitch! Finally beat it with.... drum roll....

Another gem in this jam imo. I kind of got used to how to hit the bubbles, because the plane feels very similar to guided arrows in Assassin's Creed games (bad camera angle, no real feel of trajectory, but if you do it enough your autopilot takes over and you just know if you're gonna hit the target or not). So we'll call that a skill check :D

Lovely art style. And you made all the music too? Wow!

Congrats you guys this was a great experience.

Thanks for creating a fun and very addictive game! The fact that you've put together a game with multiple stages, interesting design, great artwork and music is super admirable. Only thing I would add is a small breakdown with the controls and mechanics. This is one of my favorite entries :)

epb9000 2022-04-18 15:01

Very polished entry and super interesting take on the theme! Hitting the speed bubbles can be a little tricky since there's not a good way to gauge their actual position so I'd frequently go too high. Another object nearby that can be used as a guide of sorts may be a possible solution.

This game was really fun, and the art style is just fantastic! I played on a controller and found that interaction much nicer than on a keyboard, but unfortunately the restart didn't really reliably work pressing :a: on the controller and sometimes I got into a weird state where I could continue playing while I had the game over screen on top.

My main complaints would be that it was really hard to gauge the height of the plane with regards to the speed buffs and colliding or not with obstacles. It almost felt like it was the camera colliding with bridges rather than the actual plane.

The trail sprite for the plane also didn't fit the very cool and nice papery graphics of the rest of the game and felt wrong that it updated with the plane's rotation. If it was a guiding effect on where the plane was heading it would have made sense but I think it would have made more sense now to have the passed track in global space.

I also think it would have been nice if the plane hung in the air when you started until you gave a clear input to the game so one didn't have to loose height right in the beginning from not being fully prepared.

Unfortunately I never completed the last(?) / third level even though I got pretty close some times.

I love the chill vibe of this game-- until level 3, of course. The music fits the game very well.

Unfortunately, the difficult was very uneven. Strangely, level 3 was by far the easiest for me since there were a lot of boosts. I couldn't even get half a kilometer in the first level. There were no boosts available, and I couldn't figure out how to gain momentum... until on one particular run, there happened to be an early boost, and I made it over 30 km easily. The player's success seems far more dependent on the random level generation than on the player's skill.

The perspective makes it extremely difficult to hit the boosts-- more often than not, I would fly right over them. It didn't help that many of them were so low that I would hit the ground before hitting them. I also hit a lot of bridges that were above the screen.

But when the levels generate favorably, this game is super chill and fun. I love the sudden transition to a hellish landscape after playing in relaxed environments, and the accompanying metal music.
