Really fun puzzle game, keep up the good work!
Pretty solid game functionally, everything ran smoothly and I give you props for including a difficulty mode. I didn't have much fun, but that's because I don't generally like to do math for fun so I'm probably not the target audience. Admittedly I had to grab a calculator out because I wasn't doing well at all lol. The graphics were pretty bare and I had trouble figuring out how to use the currency at first, because I'm American, nut I managed to figure it out. I agree with Evan that labeling could've solved this issue. I don't believe it fit the theme well, I understand what you were trying to go for with the cashier, and could've been integrated better. A simple change that could've made the game fit the theme better is if you said "when the timer strikes 0 you die" I do feel 60 seconds was not enough time for probably easy mode, however I did like how you seperated the difficulty with more difficult math problems. Overall this is a very well put together game, but very simple at the same time. Keep up the good work!
The art is really well done! I do wish you were able to add in more camera functions into the game other than filter, and take picture. Overall, it was pretty good.
I believe I encountered a glitch where I had the shotgun, got cornered by a skeleton, and my gun was not hitting the skeleton point blank, and that happened again on my second playthrough of level 1, but was able to escape the second time. Overall it was a pretty fun fps but could definitely benefit from more polishing.
Very nice. Love the execution. I do feel the game needs a title screen as you do get thrown in without warning. Good Job!
I love your take on the theme and how that's integrated. I do feel there needed to be more variety when it comes to the poker aspect other than the deal button. I do love how the game ends. It was overall a pretty fun experience but needed a bit more game play
You have a solid idea, but the execution was lacking. I do like the sprite work and animation on the skeleton player but I would've sacrifice that for a better build of the game. The invisible wall doesn't make much sense, especially given the fact it looks like you should be able to explore the area past the invisible wall. Enemies spawning behind the walls where you can't reach them makes it impossible to beat. I do want to say that it's alright for this game to turn out not great because you are still learning and I hope you keep learning and keep striving to improve!
Very nice puzzle platformer! I love the faces of the guys when you break up with them.
It was a fun game, melee attacking felt a little slow to me due to the animation and the game could really benefit from music. Overall, good job!
This was a really well made game. graphics were great, the audio was awesome, and the game play was fun to play. I was having trouble exiting the game. I'm not sure if I wasn't pressing the right button or if there was a button for that option. I managed to exit out of the game because of my dual monitor set up. Definitely did a good job with this game!
Very nice game and I love how everything was tied to the theme of space nicely. I do feel that the song didn't loop well as you can clearly tell when the song starts and stops. That's just a nitpick because his truly was a good game. keep up the good work!
It's a pretty good game. The art was great and you had a good choice for music.
Very cool game and very nice execution of the game. I do feel that the difficulty ramps up a little too much when you enter the level where you have to jump over the lava, grab all the coins, and push the button. Part of the reason I believe that is because the coin placement between the gaps are a straight line when they should be in an arc or a diagonal line because the player jumps forward in an arc; most of the time you will miss at least one out of the three coins. Still, it was a pretty good game.
This was a really well made game. The art looks really good, the music was nice, and I really love the implementation of the theme where you are given the choice to have better stats and less life or more life and worse stats. I do want to not that some of the layering visual wise felt off as in some objects looked like they were above other objects when they probably should appear below them. But overall, great job! keep up the work!
This was a really fun game to play. The game would've benefit from a more zoomed in screen. It's a really overall fun game!
Very nice game, love the concept. As mentioned before, the controls are a bit wonky, however I do appreciate that you could move with the arrow keys as well. Overall it was a very solid game.
@vuvuzuellainc Thank you! glad you enjoyed it!
@jozgames @mika-la-grand Thank you both for the feedback. Unfortunately I didn't have time to really implement more enemy and level variations as I had to work two out of three three days of the jam. My focus was to keep the game simple and functional for the jam.
@akshay-b Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the sprites and audio!
@pusheeneiro @ivanovichvonivan Thank you for the feedback. I was trying to do something with the theme that was humorous and didn't feel too obvious, and try to think of something in real life for inspirations that was, at least loosely, connected to currency. I decided to go with video game loot boxes as a symbol of in game currency and micro-transactions and made the health system be equal to the amount of money you have and the enemies would take away money as long as you were in contact with them. I might've accidentally strayed away too much from the theme in my pursuit of trying to stand out. I know this is a long explanation, however I felt it was important to explain what I was going for, but I also realized that I could've implemented that idea better in the game. Thank you for taking the time to read this and, again, thank you for the feedback.
@johannimations Thank you for the feedback. I'm sorry you didn't have any audio, there should've been audio when you pressed buttons, collect objects, and collide with enemies. I'm not quite sure why you didn't receive audio, is there any additional information you could provide, like how the game booted up, so I could figure out what to fix?
No worries, I'm just glad to know the audio worked for you the second time @johannimations Glad you enjoyed the audio!
@nayrutesk Thank you for the feedback! I would've loved to do more with the mechanics, but unfortunately due to my work schedule, I had to keep things simple in order for me to make the deadline for submissions.
@acactus Thank you for the comments, glad you enjoyed it!
I believe you have a neat concept. The visuals are very inconsistent, I recommend you stick with a style and stick with it. Like other's mention that the text changing size makes it difficult to read. Speech bubble text should've had you press space to go to the next dialogue as it was moving too fast to read, especially with the amount of text in each box of dialogue. Also, I would highly consider investing more time into gameplay mechanics and game design. I do want to stress that you absolutely nailed down the humor for the game.
Overall, There's a lot of room for improvement, but the humor of the game was great. Congrats on finishing the jam, and I hope you keep improving!
I love the idea you had for the game, however I believe there was miss steps in the execution. From what I gather you were going for a precision platformer, but the movement itself didn't feel precise as you tend to slide on platforms which makes the game feel unfair in some cases. Also, a way for you to restart the level without having to reload the page because a poor placement of where one of your dead bodies could screw up your progression. Overall you have some great ideas, but could've really benefit from more fine tuning.
Nice game. You did an excellent job on the audio for and visuals this game. However, you should've implemented a title/menu screen as the game starts right off the bat without warning which will feel unfair to players who weren't expecting the game to start off right away. It would also help with the block of text on the side describing important information. In game, you don't have a chance to read it without going into the risk of losing so most players will end up not bothering to read it. The placing of land, prey, and predators, made the game feel a bit too difficult as you have to manage where it's being placed while doing the rhythm game. A way to counter this is make it a button system and have the objects be placed in automatically. Overall this was very nice take on the theme and you have some really fun mechanics, just needs some more polishing and refinement.
Love the idea, great take on the theme. I do think the game is slightly unforgiving and having the S button as the jump button was a weird choice in my opinion. Overall good job!
I'll be honest and say that I didn't get too far into the game. The camera was way too sensitive making the game too difficult for me to control. I do find that has game has a lot of potential and I do think the art style fits the game. Still good job.
This game has a lot of potential. I will admit the controls were difficult for me but I love the idea behind this game. Good job!
Really great job. The art was really good and had a fun puzzle mechanic that was integrated well with a turn based battle system. I ran into a bug when I was trying to replicate Miggs' secret recipe and after I didn't get the combo right it gave me an invisible plant and wouldn't let me go back to the seed screen. I also wish there was way to pause the game. And I didn't realize that you could actually return the seeds until later in the game. Overall I had fun with this and I really like the characters so far!
I think you have a good start. I was confused as to what I was supposed to do at first and what things did. Even now I'm not entirely sure if I was playing the game right. I saw that there was a room above the main room and I assumed that this was a puzzle game where you move the dodo from one room to another but I realized that the game was actually a resource management game, I think. I did encounter a weird invisible wall that the bullets were colliding with near the bottom left corner of the room. The game ended for me when the dodos stopped moving and I could no longer fire the turret. Overall I do think you have potential for something fun but needs to be fleshed out more.
You did a really good job with this game with levels that are challenging but fair. I did find the audio for when you're moving a bit too loud and annoying when I heard it for too long. I would suggest that maybe adding variety to the noise so it doesn't get too repetitive. Overall great job!
A very cute game and well done on the execution. I like the art style you were going for. One thing I want to note with the pixel art is that you have a lot of doubles with your lines and here is a great video highlighting common pixel art mistakes https://youtu.be/gW1G_FLsuEs . Great job!
Great game! Love the art and animations. I also love that you took the time to implement a controls for a controller into the game. On keyboard the combat was very challenging, haven't tried it with a controller yet. One thing I think would benefit the combat would be a way to block. Overall it's a really great looking game and I think you both did an amazing job!
This was a very heart touching piece of art and I like your take on the theme, good job!
The game looks good and I see that you had a good idea however might have been too big for a Jam. The game seem a bit laggy on HTML and I felt that it was a bit confusing on what I was supposed to do. I wasn't sure how I was supposed to protect the apple that I have planted. Overall a good start!
Absolutely fun and funny game. I like how the game didn't end when Zack died. I will say it was difficult to grasp on how to do some of the tasks but overall I had a good time!
Very fun game! I like the art style and the idea for the theme. I will say the you die game over screen was confusing when it was because I didn't feed the monster. Also I feel where enemies spawn feels a bit too close to the ground giving you little warning that they are coming. However those are not major issues and it is overall a very solid game. I also appreciate the tutorial option. Great job!
I really like the idea and like others mentioned a HUD or UI system would've benefited the game. I also think that the game shouldn't get pitch black dark where I can't see anything. I think making a small visible area around the player when power is running low and turning it pitch black when the player hits game over would've been better because when it's pitch black it makes the player assume they can't do anything or that it is game over. I think this game has a great start, just needs to be fleshed out more. Good job!
A very well polished game. I do find that the difficulty curve spikes up a bit too much from the first level where you're learning how to move and jump compared to the next two where you need to deal with an enemy in level 2 and precision platforming in the third. Also like others mentioned the switch between the two gameplay styles is a bit too much. Overall great job!
This was very fun to play. i managed to get to wave 10 before the burrito was devoured by the demons. It has a very humorous premise, the gameplay feels solid and fun to play. I did find that the time it took for the player to respawn felt a bit too long and I don't think it should have been tied to the dash bar as I feel that's a bit too punishing for using the dash ability. I also believe that there should've been a game over screen as it was jarring to be kicked back to the menu screen after the burrito was destroyed. Other than those things I had a blast playing this game.
Cool top down shooter. I absolutely love the background because it made it feel like I was playing on an old TV. I do think the movement felt slow in relation to the button input. Also I think there wasn't enough emphasis in the gameplay of the jams theme, what I would've done is instead of it being the robot's health have it be the chick's health instead and I think that small change would improve the feeling that you are keeping something alive. Overall good job!
A nice and simple game. I think the graphics are very good and I love the little animations like the idle animation for the player was a nice touch. I do think the health bars drain a bit too slowly making the game feel like there's little urgency. Other than that great job!
The graphics are nice and I appreciate the implementation of a settings option. Aiming was really difficult and I think having an icon showing where your muse is would have improved that. Also I felt the movement was a bit off and possibly laggy. Overall though good start and keep up the work!
I will admit that I had trouble at the beginning and it was a bit too dark to see at first but once I got a hang of things this became a very fun game. great job!
Very nice and simple game. I love that you implemented a tutorial section into the game and the overall UI was easy to grasp. I do wish that there was some background music. Great Job!
Presentation was very solid. Graphics look great and the audio was on point. I wasn't able to do much other than fly around when it looked like I could do more. I couldn't interact with the other birds that were attacking my nest and I couldn't gather food. Also the pause button on the top right corner did not seem to work. I hope you continue working and improving!
I absolutely love the art style and I love that the overall atmosphere and story made me feel like there was weight to the choices presented for me. I also like what you were going for with the theme of the jam. I guess the only issue I had was that the game just stopped and din't give you a way to restart the game without exiting and booting it back up. Overall though very good job!
Hey everyone I want to thank everyone for the feedback and all of the kind comments!
I also want to let you all know that I have uploaded a new version where the camera is not as zoomed in and it fixed a bug where the score wouldn't reset itself when starting a new game in the same session.
Thank you all for playing!
@gamer-fates Thank you for the feedback! The controls are WASD or Arrow keys to move and Esc to pause the game, input from the mouse is not programmed into the main gameplay. You heal the tree by collecting trash, unfortunately as the build stands the health bar only updates when the tree is taking damage and it's something that I need to fix. How you can stop the tree from taking damage is by walking over to the lumberjacks that are cutting down the tree like you would when picking up trash, it'll look like you are walking behind the tree when doing so because of how I have the game programmed currently. I apologize for the confusion and I will look into making the rules more clear in the future. Thank you for taking the time to play my game!
Good job. I thought having different spells was fun and I was interested in the world. I found the Q/D button combo to move to be a bit odd and the second level the mana kept falling through the floor wich made progressing the game to be impossible. The art was good and I do see potential for the game.
A very fun and simple game. I did experience a bug where the guy got stuck to the walls but that didn't stop my enjoyment of the game. Well done!
I can see it being fun for two people but it's hard to fairly judge the game as a single player. The graphics are nice and I like how you made a more competitive game from the theme. I do feel the controls are a bit confusing at first. Overall though good job!
A small yet very fun game. Good job!
This was really fun and challenging platformer. I love the art style and that you gather fire to keep up the light and your life going which I feel was great game design. I do think if you are going to have long platformer levels it would probably benefit to having a few checkpoints so if a player dies near the end they wouldn't have to start all the way back from the beginning which can be very frustrating. Also I think there should've been a way to hit enemies, like jumping on top of them, and not take damage because there were a few times where I was put in a situation where I had no choice but to get hit by the enemy. Overall excellent job!
Good job on your first LDJAM! I hope that you keep making games and keep improving!
I tried to play the game however it was just a black screen behind the buttons and text. I was still able to get sounds but I could not see any of my input
It was a nice short and fun detective game I would love to see expanded on. I do wish there were more questions unlocked when you ask one, but overall good job!
I first want to say congratulations on completing the game. It was very challenging and it fits the theme well. I do think that having the spikes come in right through the right wall made it feel a bit too punishing and made me afraid of even getting close to the right wall because I thought I was going to get hit. I think being able to see the spikes in advance would help improve that greatly. Also as side note with the art you want to avoid using too many heavily saturated colors as it makes the game look very bright and can hurt the eyes. Beside those few things I thought you did a great job and I hope you two keep making games and keep improving!
What a challenging yet addictive game. I love the models like the egg and the chicken. I will say that the sensitivity of the movement felt a bit random where sometimes I didn't move it far enough while other times I sent the egg flying on accident. Overall great job!
A very fun and simple game. Great job!
Great job on the game! It had a very solid presentation with good art and music, the gameplay was fun and fit the them, and overall the game was extremely Gouda(please forgive the cheesy puns, I couldn't resist)!
Very excellent job! The presentation and mood are absolutely beautiful and the gameplay is perfect for the theme. The audio was a great pick for what the game was going for. I did lose interest after a couple of tries however that doesn't take away from the great experience I had when I started the game. Keep up the great work!
Very nice and simple game. I would've liked the game to be a bit more difficult and a bit more punishment if I pressed the wrong button. I really appreciate that you took the time to have two different languages for the game. Good job!
