I believe I encountered a glitch where I had the shotgun, got cornered by a skeleton, and my gun was not hitting the skeleton point blank, and that happened again on my second playthrough of level 1, but was able to escape the second time. Overall it was a pretty fun fps but could definitely benefit from more polishing.
Played on Linux - the file name is painful - stun is sick with the flame thrower... just locks down everything. - anything that is attacking or stunned when killed doesn't correctly die - enemies will attack after dead - enemies don't fall down if they were doing anything other then walking when they die (alway with the flame thrower + 3x stun combo) - nice use of the theme - the prog gen felt cramped and on the 3rd level I had a really hard time finding all the enemies
Easily the greatest game I ever played in my life, top marks all; it's exciting we knew of them here first on Ludum's before they were billionaires. If I could muster significant cleavage I would definitely try to get it signed by the creators of this, and then sell myself on Ebay.

man i wish u provide options for volumn control and change resolution, my computer is wide-screen so i can't even see my stats... other than that, the sound is actually pretty nice.
This game was really fun. Pretty straightforward classic shooting action, no more complicated than it needs to be. I found it interesting how not yet awakened enemies could blend in with already dead enemies, although that made it kinda frustrating to find the last few enemies in a level. I will say that I really liked the aesthetic and the rocking music. Overall, nice work!
Loved the music, didn't enjoy the level design. Loved the hand pew guns.

Pretty neat! S is the most powerful key in the game. Plz buff shotgun.

Got a little lost in level 2. My only critique would be the better weapons should have still had "pew" sounds.

On the plus side: - Linux version! (this is the version I played). - It's cool to have audio, and the music is nice. - Skeletons are very convincing!
On the negative side: - No sound FX when hit by a skeleton (being hit is one important event in this game!) - The levels seem rather random, when I died, I couldn't tell if I was restarting from the beginning or from where I left. - The dynamic shadows are horribly pixelated, and "shifted" (they give the impression than dead skeletons are actually hovering above the ground). - The ground texture is rather harsh, and difficult to ignore: it's filling a big part of the screen most of the time.
@ace17 the levels are completely random, that is intentional! It's procedurally generated ๐
Thank you everyone for the feedback! I'm working on a polish build now to address all the issues ๐
The main menu killed me.
Did my hand clitch through everything? Hell yes. Did I care? Hello no.
Most fun game Iยดve played so far for LD44

A little rough around the edges, of course, but good fun nonetheless!

The sheer amount of extra stuff (items and upgrades) was very unusual for an LD game, good job! The game is great, but honestly, I think it needs a bit more work. The procedure to your generation definitely needs some work, it's easy to get lost. You also fell into a trap that waaaaaay too many devs fall into. Difficulty = Health. When the game feels like getting hard, it just makes the enemies take longer to kill, which just makes dealing with them a pain. Maybe introduce ranged attacks, or give the enemies more speed. Maybe make them swarm you at specific times. But please, avoid the crazy health walls. I got to a point that a group of enemies took minutes to deal with with an upgraded shotgun. This was not fun. I want to get on with the (otherwise great) game, but each enemy felt like a chore. Upgrading, and health as a currency were all great tho, well done!
I love how the the HandGun(pun imtemded) sounds as well as the HandGun itself...but the game got boring very fast..it's harder to find enemies...but those upgrades..there are massive number of them..that very nice!
the skeleton dance, just love that <3
collisions are not so good, but those animations are very good.
Nice work though!
Nice work! Love the hand gun, that's hilarious. Enemies are a bit dump and don't get up, if you shoot them from far away.

Very cool game! And that big skeleton was nice. As a metal head totally loved the music ๐ค Overall dynamics and feel of the game could have more work, faster movements, refined aiming maybe. Anyway game is nicely done!

Love the game it hilarious especially the menu, sounds and the animations! Maybe with a bit more polish and bug fixes it could be a full game ready for release. Nice work!
I completed the second level and stopped playing because nothing was changing. Nor was it challenging. The flamethrower rofl stomps the enemies. There's no reason to buy upgrades. And with no sense of direction you're just walking around to find an enemy you haven't killed yet.
@finn-truman Yeah the flamethrower is pretty op and the level generation can be a bit unkind (since it's procedural), thanks for playing!
@refraction Oh it's procedural? That's actually kind of impressive! Procedural generation is hard! That explains why I got two upgrade stations next to each other.
I'll be a little kinder with my rating now that I know this was a technical experiment. Typically one shouldn't choose procedural content when a well crafted linear experience can be just as good, but jams are also for experimenting one's programming skills!
@finn-truman Thanks bud!
This game has a ton of personality! Enjoyed flaming all the skeletons, and pew-ing them to death. Sometimes it's annoying to find skeletons to kill though, and the shop didn't seem to do much for me. Overall, the game needed more skeleton dances. Super neat game!
Very cool game, the skeleton models and animations are great! I would have to say that it was too easy to lead a skeleton train and endlessly shoot the group until they all died. There's a lot of ways to fix that but otherwise it was a neat entry! Finger guns are a huge plus.
Saw the menu Instant 10/10 Pew Pew Pew 12/10
I lost it when I saw post-jam title screen says "Now with more bugs!" I played on Linux and unfortunately didn't hear any audio (both jam and post-jam builds). This might be a bug, or maybe it's just my machine, since other commentors said they could hear it. If there is a fix for this, let me know so I can rate you for audio.
It was absolutely terrifying to be lost in the maze and see a skeleton on the floor and wonder "did I already kill it? Is it going to get back up?" When I first saw the giant skeleton at the end of the first level I screamed and my cat jumped off my lap. What a pleasant experience!
I think it would have made a big difference if the visual for shooting a gun was more obvious. When I was close to the skellies I didn't even see any bullets, and wasn't sure if I was actually shooting (again, no audio cues). It was also jarring to see my hand clip through the walls.
Also please reuse that skeleton dance on a boss fight.

Loved it. I did find it a bit to slow at times when I'm trying to find the last couple enemies.
One of the must fun games played so far! The music is absolutely amazing and I loved the dancing skeletons. Brought me back to the good old Doom. the pew pew gun is super cool. Played the orignal pre-fix version (windows) and found no bug. Read only now that is procedural and well, this is definitely a plus!
Nice game! The FPS-gameplay feels really solid. Its a lot of fun just to run around and shoot skeletons! The procedually generated levels are very impressive for a Ludum Dare. Their only downside is, that you sometimes need a little bit of searching to find all the enemies. I had tons of fun until level 5, where I searched for a few minutes to find the last enemy. Besides that: the gameplay is solid, and the art and music give a really nice touch to the overall mood. Nicely done!
@awesomealliterationalliance thanks bud! Yeah I agree finding the final skeletons can be an issue, I was thinking it might have been advantageous to put in a sort of pointer/marker to show where the last skeletons are so you aren't walking around completely aimlessly xD

Ahah, you game look like mine, with the gun/shotgun, menu to buy stuff with life :) Good job !
Pretty awesome! Music was rad, pew pew SFX were funny. Props on the procedural generation, that's not always easy to implement. Skelly animations were super fun, great work on that. For a shooter, I think the "feel" of shooting is super important, and I think this game could benefit from better shooting feel. And perhaps more obvious feedback to the user when taking damage. Loved the Thriller dance, too. Nice work guys!
