I think i don't really understand how to play. A tutorial would be nice... Then, i like the bird !

Very interesting concept, can really see and respect the ambition in the idea, however I definitely agree that this needed a tutorial or some more reading material in the game description. Took me a little while to get to grips with what I was doing, but I see a whole lot of potential in this idea with a little bit more onboarding and signposting

I also had a hard time figuring out what to do exactly. The title screen looks fantastic!

I tried it, graphics are good, I think the idea is good but it miss some tutorial on how to play and what does what. What does the gun ? I understood the O2 generator, the recycler and the eggs platform, but for the rest I am not sure :/ I think there is not much to do to make it more understandable :)

I think you have a good start. I was confused as to what I was supposed to do at first and what things did. Even now I'm not entirely sure if I was playing the game right. I saw that there was a room above the main room and I assumed that this was a puzzle game where you move the dodo from one room to another but I realized that the game was actually a resource management game, I think. I did encounter a weird invisible wall that the bullets were colliding with near the bottom left corner of the room. The game ended for me when the dodos stopped moving and I could no longer fire the turret. Overall I do think you have potential for something fun but needs to be fleshed out more.

Thanks for your comments, it's true we did not have time to finish our game to make it really "playable". We were too ambitious, and did not have time to add the tutorial...

It is indeed kinda a resource management game, although we thought to orient it towards automation stuff at first (hence the conveyor belt you can place to move the dodos). We will try to do something more reasonable next time!

the idea is very good, the game is fun. it is clearly not yet finished and somewhat unclear what to do at first. but after reading this description and some comments it makes more sense.

keep it up and post an update after the jam if you want.

the prototype looks promising!

i really like the art style, although it should get a little bit more consistent (i like the style of the "machines").

This seems like a really neat idea, but like others have said I wasn't entirely sure how to actually play. One thing I noticed in particular was that the dodo didn't have any clear way of displaying it's current needs - being fed, using the bathroom, etc. The gun mechanic also, while really interesting, felt awkward to use, especially when the gun got caught on the corners of the room. I think there's something here, it just needs to be a little more fleshed out.

Too bad it's not yet finished, it would be interesting to see the full gameplay! and any direction on the game would be nice as well. It seems that I can only play with the dodo birds with no clues at all and nothing else. Well overall it's a good prototype, I'll look forward to your next game! tips : if you're not able to finish your game, it is likely due to your too big or too many ideas implemented, be sure to keep things simple if you want to submit the game fully in time.

You've got a nice idea here, graphics are cute, however the controls for the camera and gun are very weird. The camera is very jittery and the gun moves a bit too much per key press in my opinion.

The HUD for your currency blocks the turret too, so it can get rather annoying when you're trying to navigate a few dodos stuck in the bottom left corner.

Also I agree that there should be some sort of tutorial, as even after reading the description I was kind of just clicking around aimlessly unsure of what to do.

Cool idea, you should continue to dev the game. Also the UI is nice.

There missing clues to explain to the player what to do. With a tutorial the game will be more understable.

Nice job.

This feels like a pretty cool idea. Love the graphics and the idea of keeping something alive during it's journey back to a safehouse/zoo/science lab/new planet (that's my take on the story). :)

Hope you get a chance to do some post-jam work and flesh it out to completion! Would love to make a whole army of dodos. Great work!

Yooo I'm actually from Mauritius!! Greato Jobu making a game with Dodos!
