Really fun art style! Not the game I was expecting from the thumbnail. Might be useful to mention clicking attacks in the controls! Game seems difficult, but maybe I'm terrible. Good job!

matthewrf 2023-05-02 02:55

This is great! The art is nice, the gameplay is fun and functional, and it's funny. I especially love the "pIzZa MaNiAc" voice clip. It also feels very polished - collisions and hitboxes are accurate and I ran into zero bugs. I don't really see a big connection to the theme, but that's a pretty minor gripe.

Quick note for anyone that tries it: punch the wood on the lower-right to access the arena. I didn't recognize the mouse icon right away, but I think that's on me. Just throwing it out there in case anyone else gets confused.

trevor-lentz 2023-05-02 02:55

Really like the intro animation and how enemies steal pizza. The chiptune track really fits the visuals and style of the game. I feel the fighting SFX are a bit loud. Nice work. :)

sam-gorman 2023-05-02 02:58

I really like the art, it's very bright and cheerful. And there's a lot of character, especially in the voice clips. I did find the combat a little basic though, maybe another move would help.

In terms of bugs: once I killed all the enemies, they just stopped spawning and I was stuck in the arena. Not sure if something was supposed to happen there? Anyway, nice job!

flaterectomy 2023-05-02 08:57

The pixel art is chef's kiss! I like the mechanic where the pizza slices are like hit points that you can get back from the zombie corpses. The punching feels pretty crunchy, but some kind of bigger area attack (swing the bicycle around you in a circle!) that has a cool-down might have been a nice addition to keep the combat more interesting.

Same as mentioned above, though, after killing all zombies I remained in that level and nothing new came out. I see you have a boss fight with Angry Bernd in the screenshots, but I couldn't get to that part and just got stuck.

The soundtrack really suits the vibe of the game and is well made. Nice solid groove to it. Wish I could've played more of it! A very solid entry.

Nice game and awesome pixel art!

It was a bit hard at first. I was also a bit confused when the zombies stopped spawning and I was locked inside the arena and nothing happened.

majadroid 2023-05-02 09:06

Nice game, the pixel art and the sound design is great. I like the fun and bright mood.

For me the difficulty was a bit high. I think, having to aim with the mouse for such a short ranged melee attack isn't the best solution. Maybe just attacking in the walk direction may work better.

jona-scheidig 2023-05-02 09:11

Thanks ya'll for the nice feedback ^^ Means alot to me. For all of you who got stuck, which version did you play the game on? Windows, Linux or Web? So that I know where to fix it :)

tofucat 2023-05-02 09:52

I had a lot of fun playing this. I love the pixel art and the music. I loved the idea of stealing pizza slices instead of hearts or hit points, it was a really creative and original idea. The controls were easy and I found them to be intuitive.

waptaincaffles 2023-05-02 09:55

Really satisfying sound design, really nice graphics, feels well designed. I think the only feedback I have is, it would have been nice if there was more feedback when attacking, like some knockback or animation / flashing on the enemy sprite.

Great job on this though, I just love the sound design so much haha.

I just had a total blast playing Manucci's Pizza Hunt. Let me tell you, the pixel art is totally on point - like, "chef's kiss" level of awesomeness. And that mechanic where you get pizza slices back from the zombie corpses? Genius!

The punching in the game feels super crunchy, and it kept me hooked throughout. Although, I do think they could have added a bigger area attack like swinging a bike around you in a circle. That would have made the combat even more interesting, you know?

I did have a small issue though - after killing all the zombies, I was still stuck in the same level, and nothing new came out. But, looking at the screenshots, I saw there was supposed to be a boss fight with Angry Bernd, and I was gutted I didn't get to experience that part.

But hey, let's talk about the soundtrack! It's perfectly suited to the game's vibe and just adds to the overall fun. The groove in the music is so solid, and it's impossible not to bop along while playing.

Overall, Manucci's Pizza Hunt is a super solid entry. The pixel art, engaging combat system, and well-matched soundtrack make it an absolute must-play for retro-style game fans like myself. I only wish I could have played even more of it!

I’ve just finished played this game, and I have to say, it's pretty amazing! The art style is really nice and the gameplay is both fun and functional. Plus, it's got a great sense of humor, especially with that "pIzZa MaNiAc" voice clip - I couldn't stop laughing!

One thing I really appreciated was how polished the game felt. Collisions and hitboxes were super accurate, and I didn't run into a single bug. The attention to detail is definitely there.

The only minor gripe I had was that I didn't really see a strong connection to the theme, but that's really not a big deal in the grand scheme of things.

Oh, and just a quick note for anyone who's playing - if you want to access the arena, you need to punch the wood in the lower-right corner. I didn't recognize the mouse icon right away, but I think that's on me. Just wanted to share that in case anyone else gets confused!

Overall, this game is a total winner. The combination of great art, fun gameplay, and hilarious humor make it a must-play for anyone who loves retro-style games.

bonzochuff 2023-05-02 13:24

I loved the Art, Sounds and the idea for this game. I even found myself laughing out loud a couple times. I thought using pizza slices that can be stolen by the enemies as health is a very interesting and cool idea. I think a little knockback on the enemies here would go a long way to increasing game feel and would help balance out the difficulty. Awesome job team!

tvorojok 2023-05-02 14:42

this is my pizza! and I will not allow that mini orcs took her away from me! nice vibe!

potatobrain 2023-05-02 16:22

@sam-gorman @flaterectomy @stefan-funke @quartervision

The getting stuck in the battle arena bug is now fixed, if you want to give it another try :D

Love it! One of the best free games that I’ve seen, the gameplay and soundtrack are just gorgeous. Sound effects are nice and crunchy and controls were easy to remember. The final scene of angry bernd getting it down with MC was just 10/10, would recommend

Man, as I played Manucci's Pizza Hunt, I was blown away by the impressive performance! From the first moment I started playing, I was impressed by the beautiful pixel art style, which was both charming and detailed. The gameplay was equally impressive, with precise controls and smooth animations that made it easy to maneuver my pizza across the screen. Despite the simplicity of the game mechanics, the gameplay was incredibly addictive and kept me coming back for more. I also loved the sound design in this game, with catchy tunes that perfectly complemented the pixel art visuals. The sound effects were spot on, from the satisfying crunch of the zombies' jaws to the gentle rustle of the pizza box as I moved it around. But perhaps the most awe-inspiring aspect of this game was the attention to detail. Everything from the accurate hitboxes to the subtle animations of the pizza slices was clearly crafted with care and precision. Overall, I can't recommend Manucci's Pizza Hunt highly enough. It's a truly impressive game that showcases the incredible potential of the 8-bit genre. If you're a fan of retro-style games, you won't want to miss this one.

sex mods when?

43sam 2023-05-02 18:30

Very nice and congrats on finishing the jam! The visuals, gameplay and music were all great. I really liked that you could get you health back after you got hit which added a lot to the strategy of the game. I think the hitbox could be a bit bigger for the swing as it felt tough to judge the distance properly but that's mostly a personal thing haha. Well done again :)

toot 2023-05-02 18:54

Gud game. Super fun. Enjoyed.

frelude 2023-05-02 19:03

Game is short but pleasant to play. There seem to be a bug that with a red overlay that never disappear, but that's not game-breaking. Arena battle was tough, but I did it !

Great game.

cinterre 2023-05-02 20:29

Short but sweet. The polish is fantastic, looks and feels like a complete game. Well done!

Pixel art is amazing, I'm very happy to see games that take pixel compatibility into account, the hitting feel is good, the cutscenes are sweet and it's nice to swag around in bike mode :v:

potatobrain 2023-05-03 09:37

@matthewrf

we wanted to make the delivery = goal, health and weapon of the game, so that all mechanics depend on the delivery. But you know how it is, we ran out of time, to implement all :(

yusp 2023-05-03 12:06

like idea, great sounds and art works. i love it

2023-05-03 18:09

Cool Game with interesting art style.I liked the difficulty and sound design a lot aswell as the humour.

calamador 2023-05-04 06:48

Beat em up Pizza delivery with a bike supermode! That's a pretty cool concept. I liked the little animations your guy had at the beginning and I also really appreciate having the boxes to demonstrate how you can build up the meter and go on a super bike rampage!!! :boom: :bike: :boom: Also that walk cycle with the square feet was pretty cool. I like the unique pixel art style your artist came up with.

One thing that I think could be improved is the ability to attack by holding down the mouse button. A lot of games this jam have me clicking a lot and my hand got kinda tired after a while. Oh and its a minor thing but the textboxes that the endboss makes are actually text fields I think. If you click em and start typing you can mess with what he is saying mid sentence. Which admittedly was kinda funny.

Also I don't want to spoil it but the joke you put in the game got me pretty good. I had a chuckle at that. Great Jam entry overall!

jona-scheidig 2023-05-04 07:47

@calamador

Thanks for the kind review ^^

I actually didn't know you could type in the bosses text field mid sentence :O Thats honestly pretty hilarious. If our team does want to make a sort of finished mini game out of it, we'll definitly add that mouse button hold action, aswell as other enemies and an actual boss fight ^^

Might make a little story aswell... but thats to see

daivyishere 2023-05-04 14:22

Great entry! Graphic is amazing, conpect is pretty fun. I hope there's visual indication when you hit the zombies and I also hope that I can know when is the bike ability running out. WEll done!

drainkid 2023-05-05 03:11

Really great game, complete package, super well done with great music. Not a lot of complaints here - great job ya'll!

gao-ming 2023-05-05 05:32

I'm invincible when I get on! Good job!

kitira 2023-05-05 11:19

Fun game with nice pixel graphics and sound! I really like the Maniac voice clip at the beginning. And the bicylce mode is super-fun.

tetrapteryx 2023-05-08 21:50

Great art and audio! I loved the bike mode, it was super satisfying. The only thing I felt was missing was visual feedback for successful hits.
