Very impressive! The art is nice, and I like the customization. Just sitting back and seeing how it plays out was fun. I felt like I tapped out the potential of the available upgrades though, so more, progressively powerful upgrades would be nice.

Solid Entry. Love how all the other animals are different combination of what you can get. At some point it kind of spyral out of controll.
Maybe it could use some sort of score system to understand how well you are dooing.

This is a really cool concept, and the execution was enough to make me excited for where you could go with it :D
I'm not sure if I was supposed to use the evolution to adapt to the environment (ie. different enemies, amounts of vegetation) or to try to guide evolution towards a more specific end goal of my choosing. Personally, what initially really excited me is the idea of being able to decide what sort of organism I'm trying to "create" (a fast predator, an evasive prey animal etc) and guiding evolution in that direction.
I love the idea of making evolutionary tradeoffs instead of just improving stats, and would love to see this explored further! Really cool game.
It's not ugly! The weird, little modular creatures are adorable, haha! Great concept, but I didn't feel like I had enough agency in propagating my species. Felt like I was at the whim of the cards. Theme is spot on, of course. Music is nice, too.

Love the graphics and the idea! At some point I didn't want to upgrade anymore since it seamed like everything was worse than I already had!
Generally I really like the weirdness that comes, when a lot of random creatures start walking in. One small little feedback: Maybe it would be cool to highlight your own creatures. I found it a little bit hard in the "late"-game to differenciate my species from other because at some point a lot of them looked nearly identical.
Overall great game/simualation!
@jkniest pressing X add an icon over your creatures. It's not very visible, thought.
Nice game! It kind of made me think about the Conway's Game of Life. It's interesting to see the game evolving "by itself", with just some player inputs here and there. Would definitely like a more advanced version :)

every time i think i'm doing okay, a new wave of bullies show up and wreck my babies but then when i'm down to like 2 population left, they manage to turn it around and rejoice in the meatpile of their once oppressors.
tldr, i think this game is neat. multi-biome content would be so cool tbqh

Really interesting one, I like the little evolution cards. It's a cool way to make the species evolve depending on what's needed at the moment. I liked it a lot.

This is a fun entry! The integration of all the parts in the graphics was well done. The music was good. Some more audio cues might have been nice.
Two things I might suggest would be to show the current bonuses and allow skipping or rerolling a trait selection. I know the second would be a design change so maybe not what you were going for. If you could save up DNA points for more expensive traits that would add some depth. It works well as is though.
Great job making a game in 48 hours!

Great job! I love the creatures made from different parts, the visuals came together wonderfully! The simulation was also impressively complex, felt like I was watching a whole world evolve =).
I would have liked a little more control over my choices, sometimes I had three choices that all seemed worse than what I had, or they replaced something that I couldn't remember what it did, so I wasn't sure if I should choose it. Maybe some choice that is basically saving up DNA points for an extra big upgrade later or better cards in the next draw or something like that would be really fun and add a layer of strategy.
This is probably my favorite take on the theme. Great job, I had a blast playing and made it a lot further than I thought I would! I almost had 40 population at one point and then a big group of fanged creatures came in and messed me up. I switched to fangs, they overthrew the predators, but then I couldnt eat grass and my population quickly fell. Awesome game
Loved it! Fun to just watch the evolved little critters run around eating and murdering each other. If the project were able to be enlarged, evolutions that require multiple points might be fun.
Very cool! Not often in a game do you have to prevent yourself from becoming too powerful! My guys were eating that grass way too fast. Reminds me of the board game Evolution, but honestly I like it a lot more. Would be awesome to see more evolutions!

Very inspiring entry!
Interesting concept, it has a weird charm about it, after a while I seemed to run out of mutations, so I only really had a chance to go back to previous ones that worked less well. Not sure how it would work if fleshed out further, maybe as conditions change you need to evolve in the right way, e.g. long legs were good until the ice age hit , then they were a disadvantage or something. Also I suppose if you are too well adapted the population explodes and destroys its source of food, then all starve. Art was ok, quite cute, appreciated a bit of music. Interesting take on the theme. Not so much fun as its stands, but still sort of interesting and a fairly unusual concept. Decent entry.
This is pretty fantastic for one person 30 hours. I think it would have been a nice quality of life feature to be able to hide the choice for new organs if you like what you currently have.

This is really fun. Have to pay attention to what is happening around you when choosing what to evolve. I do wish I could skip changing something for a turn, maybe as a penalty. Would also be great to have some stats at the end, and maybe a picture of my latest evolution.
I would definitely be interested in a post-jam version of this with expanded content.
very cool! I thought I had found a winning strategy with omnivorous + fangs but actually no :P ^^#
impressive balance! I'd argue it would be handy to shuffle evolution possibilities other such quality of life improvements could be considered but we're deffo in the "nice to have" realm hehe
like a jam-spawned somewhat passive spore-like super cool! loved it! take car yall <3 :D

This was hilarious seeing these creatures bob around. I wish there was more variety in the traits, but fantastic job for a compo!
