nice little tetris game blocks felt a bit to bouncy.
Nice game! Loved the graphics and the sound! I wish it had some impact on fall and effects, besides that it's a really nice take on the jam theme, loved it!

Man, I have to admit this game is really addicting. The only problem that was annoying is that the guidelines are not very precies in terms of where a block will fall. It happened to me more then onece when putting blocks near eachother while using the grid-snap the edges of the blocks would collide and the block would fly off the platform. If it wasn't for this problem I would still be playing this game. Please if you happen to fix this let me know, I would love to play this game on my pc when i'm bored. (Also thanks for the practice mode!) (Also also, come check out my game! It is kinda of similar to yours in a way)
Loved the game, but I am very bad at it XD
The game is great. Like really great and a fun idea. It is being let down by the lack of rotation and also the music. One of the biggest draws for Tetris was the music, and I think a proper tribute shoulda put a bigger emphasis on that and the mechanics than the looks (which are incredible for a game jam btw). Props to you for a really impressive submission!
obraz_2021-10-06_070758.png Physics works fine, I love the effect of amortization when there are a lot of blocks on base. It is not boring due to the short time limit. Nice one!
Gave me a 3d tricky towers vibe, which isn't bad at all. The ability to move by grid/smooth was a great little feature, and the physics felt consistent. A great base game!
As others have said, the different movement options were a nice polish that made the game feel really nice. It was relaxing and fun! Would love to see other game modes as well where there are different objectives. I liked the game a lot, though ^^
enjoyed the graphics/aesthetic!
The physics can be harsh but it's a neat little game overall, I like the extra practice mode
This was really fun, but it really is missing a rotate button! Well done :) Also - congrats on getting physics to play nice. It can be a tricky task
So glad to see tetris inspired games being made for this jam! Really well done!
My time with Tricky Towers definitely prepared me for this one. Appreciated the two types of movement — I think you could have made the hitboxes just a little smaller than the grid, since weird rounding errors caused adjacent blocks to sometimes barely touch and sometimes barely not.
A simple idea very well implemented! I didn't see anything more unstable in this jam. Good work!
hey! It's great, I really like the idea, in fact at the beginning I just had the same one, and I wanted to do it exactly as you did, although then I changed a bit hahaha. Maybe I would also like the blocks to be heavier and fit better, but it's just my perception.
I kinda did the same thing in 2d for my game xD I like the idea, inspired by tricky towers. The blocks do feel a bit too bouncy tho. Good work!
Fun idea and polished mechanics! I was never able to go too high since I always ended up sabotaging my own tower, whoops. The visual aesthetic is also pretty rad. Nice work!
It was fun to play over and over to get a better high score. I liked the graphics too
I love your graphics, and your idea is really meet the theme!!!
Pretty cool game! :) You've done a very good job all around, from the nice control scheme to the appropriately fitting visuals and audio.
My only gripe would be with the design, which feels overly similar to Tricky Towers... (I mean, aren't jam games supposed to be about innovation?)
Cute game, love the sound and aesthetic. It's a bit annoying when the blocks that look like they fit together ping off eachother. Very nice though, I'd like to know what a good score is
I like what you did with the graphics, simple yet good looking. The music works fine. The physics can be a bit hard to predict at times, but they're mostly cool. The control scheme is a bit weird, i think that it could have been better. Otherwise, its a fairly solid game.
Pretty cool. I enjoyed playing it. I'd love to rotate blocks, but I guess locking rotation was a design choice. Overall great entry. Good Job!
Nice game! I feel like our concepts were pretty similar. I liked the 3d look of the blocks a lot; it had a polished feel to it. I also like the fact that you included a practice mode. It's a nice feature that helps the user experience a lot in my opinion. The snapped vs free movement also fit in nicely during the gameplay.
Hello! I saw many people take note of the physics working incorrectly and decided to check it for myself, and I can definitely see the issue. Since Ludum Dare does allow patches for features not working right, I was able to create a version 1.0.1 with more consistent physics. The original version is still available on the itch.io page if anyone still wants to see how the game came out initially.
@Saidrog You wanted me to let you know if the physics ever get corrected, and while I can't promise 100% consistency due to the unpredictable nature of physics, it should behave a *lot* better in this new version.
Leaving me at the mercy of a physics engine is a fate worse than death! At least it's not Unity >5 physics, though.
Simplistic concept, and very well executed. It took all of two seconds to learn and while there's certainly a lot that can go wrong, it's mostly due to my own poor judgement.
I was pleasantly surprised by how stiff the blocks can feel. Dropping a block from the top certainly has enough force to destabilize loose blocks, but otherwise the blocks are able to hold together relatively well in circumstances where other physics based games would throw in the towel and start launching the objects apart. (I am talking about your 1.0.1 release so I can't speak for past versions)
The lack of a rotate button caught me off guard, but I feel like it really forces you to take some unusual risks in block placement.
To make this short, nicely done! I hope you get a chance to add some SFX in a postjam release as a good collision sound and some little blips on input are all I feel the game is missing.
It was a fun entry that was tense, I managed to get around 500. The variety of controls available was very handy in lining up the blocks 😁 And they felt good too, as a previous commenter has mentioned, it felt good when you dropped them and they stuck. I feel like a rotate button might have allowed for more variety in how you could stack them but maybe it would change it too much. the art was nice and the sound was great too :D
good job!
Nice little minigame. I love the clean yet very nice graphical style, the music is great, too. There are, however, two problems, I have with the game: - First, the blocks are a bit too bouncy. I managed to make a block land with a flat surface on another flat surface, and it bounced off and tipped over the edge (like wtf?). - Second, blocks can take a really long time to settle into a stable state. It happened a few times, that suddenly the whole tower would collapse (No real input or visible cause at that moment). I suspect it is, because some slowly tipping block at the bottom decided to fall down, removing the base from the tower. Appart from these minor issues, you game is a fun distraction when class gets boring.
PS: My final score is about 2500, btw. I would love to know what you managed to get.
@anchorlight I know-how cruel of me to leave you to a physics engine, but it was something I must do. It's great to hear that you had a much better experience than most did in terms of the physics of the blocks. No rotation button was both something that didn't happen due to a lack of time on my end, and from deciding it would be more interesting if players were forced to make some weird choices and encourage a bit of chaos. A postjam release is planned at some point, and more sound effects are definitely something I want to add. Thank you for playing the game!
@pd-dev Sounds like there's still issues with the physics in this game-shoot. It's really weird because I've set the bounciness in the physics material to 0, so they really *shouldn't* be doing that. I think I know what's causing it, but the problem is that changing it would also make it much more difficult for blocks to fix properly in together, as the game has a sort of leniency in the blocks collision to allow blocks to fix together more easily. However, this can result in a tall tower having an uneven top due to the different collision shapes, even if it looks flat. Sorry you had issues with that. As for my high score, I've managed to get to around 2900. Thank you for playing the game!
I can't say anything else that hasn't already been said by other jammers, they got the point. Tricky towers is the best reference and you can learn a lot from it. Just be creative! Keep it up.
Great game! The blocks seemed a bit too bouncy, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Thank you for making it!
