LD46 — Keep it alive

FlappyDot by mutuware 2020-04-20T15:16:23Z

You made a great and fun to play game, at least in my opinion, but I would realy love to see some kind of "You won" Screen at the end.

Servers & Sockets by Noxbuds 2020-04-20T17:27:41Z

You did a great job by creating this game. And I realy loved this shaky effect when the website gets overflown. Good Job!

Keep it alive by PD Dev 2020-04-20T11:24:08Z

@fictions I've just fixed this issue by making the player blink when he took damage. I've already uploaded the new version, so if you want to try it, go ahead.

Keep it alive by PD Dev 2020-04-20T16:54:52Z

@vignesh-raj @divic I'm glad you like my game. I guess this is what I made it for . @vignesh-raj I'll do better next time.

Keep it alive by PD Dev 2020-04-20T17:16:17Z

@tompudding Thank you for your very positive response. I guess I could have lowered the invinicility time. I just wanted to make sure that you don't get hit over and over again.

Keep it alive by PD Dev 2020-04-20T17:29:28Z

@astrolabe Thanks for your positive reply. Fun fact: I never completed Hell Mode myself, and I was a bit worried, it may be impossible.

Sandy Road by guksas 2020-04-20T17:00:54Z

Hey, I realy enjoyed playing your game. But I guess some action-packed adventure background music would transfer the mood a little better.

Keep Math Alive by BrotherByto 2020-04-20T18:04:52Z

It's a great game and also a good opportunity to get some variety to all those shooters and jump'n'runs around here. Great Job.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Deep Descent by Predominant 2021-04-27T05:24:33Z

Playing this game was really fun, though the controll are a nightmare to learn. Also love that huge explosion effect when you die. I think the game cood do with some spacey music, though.

drillerROBOT by Yamzho 2021-04-26T17:39:09Z

Really cool mechanic! Sadly I couldn't try it, as the Linux version refused to accept my '1'-press. But from what I saw the graphics look amazing, too!

Deep Fall by ben657 2021-04-26T14:23:34Z

The concept is not really unique, but the game is still entertaining. Good job. (Also, meanwhile, I feel like I'm on LSD or something...)

SPEKS - A Murder Mystery by Swordfish 2021-04-26T13:14:26Z

This game really needs a text-speed setting! But appart from that, it is really interesting and well done. Also like the interface style. I actually have a lot of respect for people who create games that kind of intelligently talk to the player.

Delve by notpresident35 2021-04-28T18:10:27Z

It took me a while to figure out, why I couldn't shoot sometimes, until I came to the idea that in a rythm game you obviously can only shoot on the beat. Really great idea! Talking about the beat, I absolutely love the music, and the graphics are really cool, too.

Deep Sickness by Poroporo-su 2021-04-26T12:08:03Z

Really cool game and a nice interpretation of the theme. (The cough sound could use some work, though.) Also the art style looks amazing! Just took me a while to figure out what the different elements represent. (e.g. the checkpoint mushrooms.) Also took me quite some time to realize that you have to left click at the end.

Directive Tiamat by dunderroffe 2021-04-26T12:46:00Z

Nice small and solid game. Just for my taste the "bullets" could be a bit faster. PS: Small tip for your next game: Extend the outside world texture so far that you can not see the background when moving right next to the wall. (Or, of course, an a bit more sophisticated approach would be to lock the camera in a border so that it can not move over the edge.)

Deep space by ancooper 2021-04-28T15:00:42Z

The graphics of your game look really good. I'm jsut missing a few sound effects, they would spice up the game a lot. Also I would like to see a few more tasks... Always switching between correcting the antenna and regulating the temperature (for robots?) gets repetetive really fast. Something that is really missing for me is a kind of score counter. Currently you travel out to nowhere and have no real indication how far you're gone. With just a few additions this game has a lot of potential, though.

Astromoles - They are where no mole has gone before ... by MisterGC 2021-04-26T18:02:26Z

The game looks really promising, but sadly my Computer wont allow me to play it 'The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)." Is anyone else experiencing this (and maybe has a fix)?

Astromoles - They are where no mole has gone before ... by MisterGC 2021-04-26T18:43:43Z

@mistergc That actually worked, thanks a lot! **To my feedback:**

The game is really funny (if not a bit slow), and the art looks really good. Took me a while, though, to figure out that the red border around the asteroids is the damage area and not the "must be in here to fuel up" area. Although: Is there a reason for the grey outline around the map? Why not just extend the background to fill the whole screen? All in all, great game!

Goldseeker by Budark 2021-04-26T18:37:16Z

Wow, this game is great! It looks any plays really well, and the music is great too. But I definitely support the Idea of bots. The game is a bit boring when you are all alone.

Depths of Insanity by TheMuffinMan314 2021-04-26T17:58:55Z

Really cool idea for a game. I also like how sometimes something that was seemingly a wall, in the next moment turns into an enemy.

Deep_demo by Lighty_the_Light 2021-04-26T17:12:48Z

I think it is amazing to see what you managed to pull up in such a short amount of time! The story is really good, the graphics are simple, nevertheless great. The only small thing I didn't really like is the lack of music. (But I totally understand if you didn't have time for that!) Also, I encountered this weir Bug (?) where after talking to the boxer, I was running around below the rooms, slowly falling. Not quite sure what could have caused it, though. Nevertheless: VERY great job!

Wormhole Adventurer by Lakea 2021-04-26T14:55:48Z

Cool little game and a nice interpretation of the theme. I also like the customisation options at the beginning. Just two small points though: First, but this is just my personal oppinion, turning around could be a bit faster. Second: Is it intended to reach "Fuel: -2"?

Shovel by Inno 2021-04-26T18:22:53Z

Really cool idea for a game. I REALLY want to see a port to a WII etc. I sooo want to play this game with motion controls! Apart from that: Great Idea!

Race to Pluto by gbprz 2021-04-26T13:43:47Z

A small yet funny game. Could do with some sound effects and maybe music, though.

Pipeline Traveler by PD Dev 2021-04-26T12:20:01Z

@hilkojj Yeah, they are. The algorithm actually took me some time (and coffe) but I think it looks and plays decent. PS: The packman vibes were not really intended, but now that mentioned it....

Pipeline Traveler by PD Dev 2021-04-26T12:29:27Z

@boltkey "Content generators are allowed." This is a quote from the rules for the compo. The music is entirely generated by "ecrett music", which is such a content generator. And I don't know of any limitations (by them) that would disallow me to use their music. To the "opt-out thingy": I thought of opting out, but I didn't really think it was necessarry, but I will consider it for my next game jam.

Pipeline Traveler by PD Dev 2021-04-26T13:26:52Z

@ville I'm glad you like it. To the thing with the big black rats: Did you try getting past them using your special-rat-hide ability? (Thought this would be obvious... Could/Should have mentioned it, though.)

Edit: Well, actually I did mention it (on the provided website): "Hidden mice can't be damaged and wont eat cheese."

Pipeline Traveler by PD Dev 2021-04-26T19:11:29Z

@ghost-wave Thanks for the feedback. As I mentioned in my small 'discussion' with BoltKey, I let a program/website called "ecrett music" make the music for me. If I made the music myself it would **definitely** not sound that pleasent.

Pipeline Traveler by PD Dev 2021-04-27T13:29:43Z

@joelchrono12 Button queueing would be a nice idea... It's just about 36 hours to late...

@ancooper HOW? Seriously, how did this happen??

@masaru Well, the game connects to the server in the second you finish the round and it tries to send the highscores. And this is failsaved (You will get a message like 'Failed to fetch highscores' or so). I have ABSOLUTELY no idea, how you could get stuck in the loading screen... Console output would be helpful. Funny thing: I'm using pihole too.... And for me it works just fine. To the second point: OK, I actually didn't think of this. But if you want, you can controll it with the arrow-keys too.

Pipeline Traveler by PD Dev 2021-05-09T17:23:50Z

@felo07 Thanks for playing! What do you meen by "missed the music and sound"? There is definitely music and there are sound effects in the game!

Deep into the Volcano by JoelChrono12 2021-04-28T14:49:17Z

I really like the graphics of your game. The controlls are rather challenging, especially as the jetpack is pretty weak. I just don't quite get why there is a text telling you what "mode" you are in (like "falling" and "idle"). It's good for debugging but I can't see an obvious reason to keep it in the release version.

Shoot them down ! by Masaru 2021-04-28T15:15:56Z

The graphics look amazing (though there could be some varaition in the background, but it's not a big deal). The player and enemy models look great! The music is really fitting the game, too. Well done!

PS: Btw. I really liked getting to level "--20" (these are two minus signs, btw.) with enemies destroying themselves offscreen xD. For a "real" release, though, I would prevent the player from getting into the negative range.

Pearl Diver by Martin183 2021-04-28T18:26:19Z

This is a really great game. It might need some more variety (e.g., as you already mentioned, a kind of "bag" item would be great) but all in all it is a great idea. And the sea with all its plants and animals looks amazing! I'm just missing some darker mood in the depth. Currently there is no real visual indicator of depth (apart from the animals). The music is also very good, and the voice of the shopkeeper made me laugh serveral times!

PS: I would really like to see multiplayer where you could compete against your friends. I think this would really fit the game. Just an idea, though.

Endless Mine by martonel 2021-04-26T13:38:56Z

I really liked playing your game. It is a obvious yet very funny implementation of the theme. Also the darkness is a great idea for building pressure on the player.

Caverns of Mal'Dur by suvi 2021-04-27T06:05:21Z

Really cool game idea, I enjoyed playing this. Also like the small icons, they look great! Could do with some background music, though.

Birdy adventures of Sherlock Worm by spacecadet 2021-04-26T12:32:09Z

The intro was really funny (not only the content, but the idea) and something I have never seen on LD before! Though the gameplay is very simple. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it "kills" the replay value, if you understand what I mean. That aside though, this is a really solid and fun game. Good job!

Unfathomable by tjm 2021-04-26T14:21:03Z

I quite like the concept of your game. It feels quite unique and I don't remember seing something similar before. The pictures in the background look really good, but I don't see them fitting the underwater scene.

Gold Mine & Debt Relief by yellowsalamander 2021-04-28T18:52:49Z

WOW! This is a really great game. I love the look, the music and the atmosphere. Literaly everything about this game is perfect. I really enjoyed playing this game. Good job!

Abyss of Heart by ElSombrero 2021-04-26T18:16:51Z

I am completely blown away by this game! The graphics look amazing, so is the mood. The core concept is really cool, and I love the story. I think it is amazing, what people can come up with, if you give them just 48 hours. Just make it a bit longer and you have a really great game for release! The only small critisism I have to come up with: I am really missing some music. Just a bit of music would really enhance the mood. All in all: Absolutely great job!

Sweet Dreams by LeHaine 2021-04-27T05:34:18Z

Fantastic game! The art looks amazing, and it nailed the theme. Great job!

Into the Dark by twoshoedlou 2021-04-26T17:35:52Z

I really liked the atmosphere that these glowing plants inside the dark ocean create. The graphics look alright, for a game jam. Great job!

Deep In Time by Kitsomo 2021-04-26T17:30:13Z

At the beginning the conrols where quite a nightmare, but after playing a few rounds (read: being shot by missiles that seemingly come from nowhere xD) I got used to the controls. The graphics, espacially of the player, could be improved, but all in all, great game and interesing idea.

Go to Heck 💀 by Chris Dirkis 2021-04-27T05:10:37Z

Very interesting concept and the graphics look great. Also liked the random levels, though you generater could need some work (At least for me it sometimes generated impossible situations). Really cool game, nevertheless, and great interpretation of the theme.

A Fairway Down! by Haydads 2021-04-26T19:08:31Z

This was a really cool way of tackling the theme. Although the graphics are simple, they deliver theire message. The game feels very well to play, with one exception: It is realy tedious to always wait for the ball to completely stop moving. It would be cool if you could take controll when the ball is on the ground for a second (or something like that). Also I did not really find a way to cancel my action. As soon as you drag the mouse, there is no way to cancel that (for example if you notice you do not have enough space to 'build up force'). It would be cool if there was a small area around the starting point, that just cancels the move. Apart from that, great mechanic and solid game!

PS: I just found a small bug, nothing to important: I sometimes got stuck on the edge of the hole and had to 'boost' myself out of the situation, which almost always made me lose some progress.

Edit: Got 112 btw. (I know I'm bad at this...)

Where did I Bury It? by GlowGlew 2021-04-26T15:02:26Z

The artstyle of your game is really good, and I really like the music. Great job!

DeepTris by hilkojj 2021-04-26T14:50:03Z

Really nice thought! Seems to be a rather unique concept, as I don't remember having seen something like this before, and it perfectly fits the theme. Well done!

Ludum Dare News Network by SecretJuice 2021-04-26T12:59:20Z

Wow. This game is hilarious, stupid and stupidly funny all at once! This is by FAR the most creative interpretation of the theme I saw today and will probably stay for the rest of the rating period. (Just one small addition I would LOVE to see (without any undertone, whatsoever; just an idea): Try fetching a list of actual news from an API (I'm sure something like this exists) and have them displayed!) Very funny game nevertheless.

Deepest Mine by SmelJey 2021-04-26T17:22:52Z

Great job! The game looks good, it plays good. In my opinion there are just two major things missing: First, a few animations for the dwarfs at work and second some kind of music and/or sfx. Apart from that, the game is great and really fun to play.

Dive Deeper by FurkanUnal 2021-04-26T13:24:25Z

A simple yet fun game. I really liked playing through the different stages and the graphics are simple but still looked good. I just discovered 2 (at least one) small bug(s): First the start button in the info screen (at least for me) isn't working, and second you can very easily get stuck on walls (for this one I'm not quite sure if this is a bug or intended.) The game could also do with a bit more variety in music, hearing the same track again and again drags down the fun. But apart from that I really liked the game.

Deeper Into The Asteroid Belt by Jump in Jon 2021-04-26T14:41:30Z

Funny little game. I really like the art style (though the asteroids could make use of some texturing. I mean, you must have spent hours on the background. Just a similar texture for the asteroids as for the planets would improve the look by a lot, I think.) Also the music and sounds fit very well. Great job.

Woof need to go deeper by Max XD 2021-04-26T13:05:48Z

Really good game. I actually played it with a friend of mine and it was quite funny. The only thing I "dislike" about the game is that certain modes could be changed to fit singleplayer, too. (e.g. Bone frenzy -> Collect as many bones as possible before the time runs out (bones despawn after a few seconds, of course)) But apart from that it is a really funny little game.

Mind Fall by Nyx_Works 2021-04-28T19:15:21Z

Interesting mechanic. Took me a while to reallize the controlls. Maybe you should have mentioned them somewhere. The main problem is that you can just spam space and you can't die. It would make a huge improvement to make the ceiling deadly, too. The music is good, but it dosen't really fit the game.

LD49 — Unstable

Make Me Rich by jk5000 2021-10-08T20:55:04Z

The game looked really nice, and I **had** to try it, but when I downloaded the linux version, my Desktop (Manjaro/plasma/Xorg) froze for a few seconds and then the program crashed. After booting up my Windows VM it worked fine though.

Tones of the World by khaotom 2021-10-08T19:57:05Z

The audio and graphical design of this game are something else! I am not sure, if I already saw another game with such great audio and design. The general gameply, though, is really hard to understand. Like, what am I supposed to do? Shoot at the sacred avatars (?!, to recharge them, I guess) and not destroy too many worlds in the process? But the world counter wasn't influenced at all, even when I just hit all avatars in a row. For your next time you maybe should set a sharper goal. Apart from that, great game!

Islands of Chess by frozenfire92 2021-10-08T20:12:02Z

This is a really nice addition to the original chess game. I just got two points, I would like to mention: - First, when making a multi-player game, it is good practice, to allow the player to change the port the game uses. (I actually ran into a conflict and had to shut down a service at my home to make the game work accross our network. Probably, that's just me, but as I said, good practice.) - Another bug, you didn't mention in your "known bugs" section (at least I didn't see it) is that I was able to move an entity over the edge, where it would fall to the lowest layer.

Very nice game, though.

PS: If you plan on continuing the game, I would love to see a way to move upwards, too.

Unfairly Unstable Unfun Game by Alexthehuman2 2021-10-06T19:50:27Z

Great game (if you kind of hate yourself). The Character Controller could need some work (walking against a wall prevents falling down), but I also understand that you probably just didn't have enough time for that. Checkpoints would be a kind addition, but I understand, you want us to suffer. (Also the font wasn't rendering for me, but since noone else seemed to have this problem, I am going to supsect wine (winehq.com) as guilty.)

TirBombardier by Tiranice 2021-10-06T19:28:04Z

The game is really fun to play, even though the lack of an explosion soundeffect cuts the fun a bit. Btw. Do you work for some kind of chemical company? I was impressed by the amount of detail about building bombs! (Or was that just made up? I mean, I can't really verify it...) Nevertheless, the game was pretty satisfying.

Change the world! by PD Dev 2021-10-06T19:55:50Z

@alex-chertilin I did encounter that bug too, but only in the editor and only with the platform in the first level. The build versions seem to have fixed it for me.

@tryus30 Thanks for the feedback, but I think you got something wrong: The game is *not* procedually generated, level design is the thing that took the most time for me xD. But thanks for playing anyways.

@Anonymous The jump kind of has to strengthes. Pressing the space bar just for a short amount of time should give you a hop, keeping it pressed a little longer should make you jump higher. I don't really see a reason, why you shouldn't be able to jump at all, though. But I have to admit, you do fall quite fast.

Change the world! by PD Dev 2021-10-08T19:30:53Z

@alex-chertilin @cookie-chr I am such a moron. There was definitely a bug going on with the moving platform (shorthand: The collider was too complex). I probably missed it because of the Unity-building-bugs that haunted me in the last hours of Ludum Dare. After a few hours of digging on what causes the problem, I now uploaded a new build (just in case you are still interested). Sorry again!

PS: Thanks for the feedback!

Change the world! by PD Dev 2021-10-08T20:39:09Z

@fersyvanderzee Thanks for the feedback! Well, dying there has two reasons: First, resetting your stability bar, yes, and second acutally teaching you that what you just saw was a checkpoint! (Just in case, you know. Idiotproof...) The space levels where very improvised, but I also think they turned out as a nice addition.

Change the world! by PD Dev 2021-10-10T18:56:37Z

@taffaz Yeah, I kind of got a lot of complains about the jumping. Might want rework my CharacterController for the next jam...

@frozenfire92 Yeah, as I said, I didn't spend too much time on the core mechanics, as I wanted to get a decent amount of levels in.

To your third problem: Could have made that clearer, but at least you got it at last.

PS: Thanks, I will definitely take the advice!

Change the world! by PD Dev 2021-10-14T19:40:35Z

@chairshot-games Hey, sorry for the late response; wasn't online the last couple of days. Thanks for the feedback! If you are still interested, try using your change height ability at the beginning of the second cloud level (the second cloud, I think).

Beam by Joeriri 2021-10-08T21:03:33Z

Great game with a concept I have rarely seen so far. I just found a few minor problems, mostly with your physics system: - When you move the box too fast, you move right through the bar. If this is not intended (it isn't, I guess), just set the collision mode of your Rigidbody2D-Component to 'continuous'. That should fix it. - As soon as I unfocused the window (to write this text, e.g.) the game would just straight up crash, and my only option was to force kill the process. - It is a bit weird (in my opinion), that touching the ceiling actually kills you. If it shouldn't, I experienced another bug in level 3. - The game would work really well with some music, but at least some rudimentary sound effects would be appreciated.

Now I feel like I complained too much, but all of these things had to be said. Nevertheless, the game is a really funny puzzle game.

Turrim by Proxy-Games 2021-10-08T19:43:20Z

Nice little minigame. I love the clean yet very nice graphical style, the music is great, too. There are, however, two problems, I have with the game: - First, the blocks are a bit too bouncy. I managed to make a block land with a flat surface on another flat surface, and it bounced off and tipped over the edge (like wtf?). - Second, blocks can take a really long time to settle into a stable state. It happened a few times, that suddenly the whole tower would collapse (No real input or visible cause at that moment). I suspect it is, because some slowly tipping block at the bottom decided to fall down, removing the base from the tower. Appart from these minor issues, you game is a fun distraction when class gets boring.

PS: My final score is about 2500, btw. I would love to know what you managed to get.
