Unfortunately when a platform is moving I got unplayable freezes. Thanx for so many platforms

tryus30 2021-10-06 19:48

It's a nice game. The one thing I did not liked was the jump physics, but for a first procedurally generated game is very nice.

2021-10-06 19:50

I tried out the game and loved the art and sound, but I simply couldn't figure out how to jump properly. Seemed like every time I tried to jump with Space bar, there would be like a 10% chance of a massive jump but otherwise I could barely jump at all and would just fall straight down. I'd try again if you can give some tips/guidance on the controls.

pd-dev 2021-10-06 19:55

@alex-chertilin I did encounter that bug too, but only in the editor and only with the platform in the first level. The build versions seem to have fixed it for me.

@tryus30 Thanks for the feedback, but I think you got something wrong: The game is *not* procedually generated, level design is the thing that took the most time for me xD. But thanks for playing anyways.

@Anonymous The jump kind of has to strengthes. Pressing the space bar just for a short amount of time should give you a hop, keeping it pressed a little longer should make you jump higher. I don't really see a reason, why you shouldn't be able to jump at all, though. But I have to admit, you do fall quite fast.

Everything was good, untill there came the moving platforms. Then everything started lagging and the game was not playable anymore. Sorry!

pd-dev 2021-10-08 19:30

@alex-chertilin @cookie-chr I am such a moron. There was definitely a bug going on with the moving platform (shorthand: The collider was too complex). I probably missed it because of the Unity-building-bugs that haunted me in the last hours of Ludum Dare. After a few hours of digging on what causes the problem, I now uploaded a new build (just in case you are still interested). Sorry again!

PS: Thanks for the feedback!

Did I get it all wrong or is it actually a good idea to die after reaching a checkpoint since it resets the stability bar? Anyways, nice game! I especially liked the low gravity physics in the third level!

pd-dev 2021-10-08 20:39

@fersyvanderzee Thanks for the feedback! Well, dying there has two reasons: First, resetting your stability bar, yes, and second acutally teaching you that what you just saw was a checkpoint! (Just in case, you know. Idiotproof...) The space levels where very improvised, but I also think they turned out as a nice addition.

Fun game! At first I was confused as to how it tied in with the theme, but once I got the first ability it all became clear. Cool take on the theme! Also despite what others say about the jump physics, I actually kind of like them. It feels more like a quick ninja-esque character than traditional floaty jumps.

This is a very ambitious game with a pretty unique concept! I love the story and world that you've created but the gameplay control itself is still quite finicky. Great game overall.

taffaz 2021-10-09 11:30

It was a nice game but the moving platforms caused some issues with jumping.

frozenfire92 2021-10-09 12:34

Good entry! My feedback is:

- I found the jump mechanics were a little frustrating - The camera following the jump was a little disorienting - pressing 1 for the ability, where you put "press one" in the description I thought I was supposed to click on the thing first :joy:

Keep on making games!

pd-dev 2021-10-10 18:56

@taffaz Yeah, I kind of got a lot of complains about the jumping. Might want rework my CharacterController for the next jam...

@frozenfire92 Yeah, as I said, I didn't spend too much time on the core mechanics, as I wanted to get a decent amount of levels in.

To your third problem: Could have made that clearer, but at least you got it at last.

PS: Thanks, I will definitely take the advice!

chairshot-games 2021-10-12 01:33

Good game! Clever idea and fun gameplay. My only suggestions are to lower gravity a bit, change the explanation of the powers to the numbers (ie "press 1" instead of "press one") to help the player understand how to activate it, and to make the solution to the cloud level a bit more obvious (I couldn't figure it out). I really liked the music and the level design is strong. Your idea is ambitious and well done. Great job!

pd-dev 2021-10-14 19:40

@chairshot-games Hey, sorry for the late response; wasn't online the last couple of days. Thanks for the feedback! If you are still interested, try using your change height ability at the beginning of the second cloud level (the second cloud, I think).

mizuiky 2021-10-19 23:38

Hi! it was great the procedural idea! the tutorial feeling in the beginning was great but the jump mechanic I felt a little bit hard and not fluid, the rock flying was good as well in the platform :)

ryjcio 2021-10-20 01:27

Hey, this is pretty neat entry! I like the ideas along the way, but from my perspective there are two problems: jumping feels rly confusing and controls seems to be designed for someone who has 3 hands :D Anyway I enjoyed the idea, but I couldn't complete it because I'm too lame :<
