Very cool I like the idea but when I died It restarted all over and it`s hard but overall really cool

@hamzaplayssssssssss Thanks a lot! Yeah, not everyone can reach the crystal core on the first try! :)

The visuals are very nice looking, I especially like the transition of going deeper and deeper. Everything looks pretty, the limit sound was enough to set the mood, and the music is pleasant. I got to like 111m or something like that before I stepped into a fire geyser is what I'm gonna call it. I also like the simplicity of it but it also has a down side to how simple it is.

I did notice that the "A" and "W" do not work while "S" and "D" do. At first I thought it was a designed decision to add challenge and I got annoyed but then realized that the Arrow keys work just fine. I also thought I could where I wanted only to later realize that I had to wait for the "dig" indicator. Finally, after like the 5 transition I wanted something different. I think, mainly because there's nothing else to do but "move to the right spot, press button" that having done less layers would've made it more fun. It would've gotten the point across sooner especially since there's no "You got this far, that's this many points, why not go for even more distance/points?" Some sort of incentive to try again when you fail. :D

@prodigalson I switched to azerty keyboard during development for personal convenience and forgot to switch back to qwerty before building the game... Now fixed, WASD keys should be working! Yeah perhaps the gameplay is too simple and not enough interesting for that many levels. Thanks a lot for your review! :D

Really nice game, wasd works completely fine now. When I got to the core of the planet, the lava stage I found it diffilcult to see the lights that indicate the comets falling down, because it wasn't that bright than in the satges before, but other than that a great entry! :)

thomas-bringer 2021-04-27 14:18

@dergamer Thank you so much! Yeah the issue comes from the the emissive lava material

nyanpierre 2021-04-27 17:07

Really nice game !

llaumegui 2021-04-27 17:09

Nice one ! good job

rjmusic87 2021-04-27 17:10

Nice one! Would love to see more colours earlier on for different layers - definitely died to spikes and was frustrated by one-shot one-kill rogue-lite feels! Really impressive game, probably my favourite that I've played so far.

bastienre4 2021-04-27 17:16

I liked the art!

Well done!

thomas-bringer 2021-04-27 18:02

@nyanpierre @llaumegui @rjmusic87 @bastienre4 Thank you so much for playing & commenting! Glad you liked it :)

adamphoebe 2021-04-27 22:01

It really feels challenging, the only downside I see is the graphics, but overall, pretty good! I feel like the idea could be really expanded upon, so yeah! Good game you got there bud!

wooliii 2021-04-28 03:07

So cute ! The graphics were great for what the game was trying to do. Some nice Astroneer vibes. Gameplay could have been a little more interesting. Maybe some additional mechanics as you make your way deeper into the planet ? The music was really nice as well.

Good work !

nosfer 2021-04-28 23:09

Nice graphics - the perspective reminds me of Super Stardust Ultra, nice usage of simple normal maps (I think).

thomas-bringer 2021-04-29 06:08

@adamphoebe Thanks a lot! Yeah I spent a lot of time on 3d modeling & texture painting, though, but I guess making a nice-looking 3d game in 48 hours is pretty tough!

@wooliii Thank you so much! Astroneer was an inspiration indeed. And yeah I originally wanted to add enemies and more, but just ran out of time :)

@nosfer Thanks a lot! Yeah I hand-painted textures & normal maps for this game :)

jk5000 2021-04-29 10:52

A super simple and fun little game. Both the music and visuals is good. I wish it got a bit more difficult over time, but okay it's not too bad. Overall a good compo game.

frostfall 2021-04-29 10:54

Very interesting visual style but the overall gameplay was quite fun and addictive. Really fun take on the theme, would be cool to see this expanded on in the future. great work!

niklas-zhaga 2021-04-29 11:00

Nailed it! It reminds me the games I've played in my childhood, so simple but so original. Such games are memorable  NAILDE.PNG

masaru 2021-04-29 11:17

This is so cool ! Lovely game. The graphics are amazing, I loved the art style (in particular the golden phase), the only little thing that makes it a bit less good that it should be is that your sphere texture has obvious seem lines which is a shame as your texture looks amazing (are these procedural ? They look like it at least, which made me love them even more but that's a personal bias ^^). It also seems (based on seems) that you used an actual sphere, maybe a round cube would have made texturing a bit easier. Outside of that, I really am in love with the graphical style, and the gameplay works as well but as it might be clear I was fully focused on "how that's so pretty" while play-testing your game *-*.

caeonosphere 2021-04-30 08:31

Hey, very stylish! Appreciated all the designs for the different areas, and each with their own hazards. Not totally sure what the hazards do, though, since I managed to avoid them all! You could have made them a little meaner, I think: the columns toppling as you walk by them, bigger falling rocks... you got quite a lot done within the 48 as it is, though.

thomas-bringer 2021-04-30 09:43

@jk5000 @caeonosphere Thank you! Yeah difficulty was quite hard to balance... (if you look at other comments, some players were frustrated because of the instant death, but I agree that it probably feels too easy) :)

@frostfall @niklas-zhaga Thank you so much! :D

@masaru Thanks a lot! The planet textures and normal maps were hand-painted in Inkscape during the jam (not procedurally generated). Unfortunately I couldn't come up with a better technique to unwrap the spheres during the jam, and I used an icosphere instead of a UV sphere. But yeah I realized that maybe this problem could be solved by using a subdivised cube. Or maybe tiling the texture instead of actually rotating the planet. Anyway it's definitely an issue I would have loved to solve during the time constraint :)

andrewkennedy 2021-05-02 21:27

Great concept! I made it down to 111m before I accidentally walked into a volcano and died :(

I liked the concept a lot - great connection to the theme. Really nice use of Voronoi patterns.

I did find the transitions to be a little trippy looking, and it would have been cool to see a more "literal" animation of that transition.

Good work!

yword 2021-05-11 17:26

Wow, really cool levels and mechanics, and it is quite addictive too!
