Played a couple of these reload every 10 seconds games and this is my favorite! Super simple and addictive game loop that makes you want to master it. I felt like the enemies jumped over the box with the right frequency but it would be nice if you got a shield or something that you could use once per 10 seconds because once there is no box between you it is quite difficult to jump over their bullets. Other than that I thoroughly enjoyed this one!

Fun little game, it was hard though! I got the furthest when I was lucky with the enemy spawning :D

My best is 99. Controls are a bit weird, especially when you have an AZERTY keyboard like me...

@rezioz I didn't think about keyboards other than QWERTY, my bad. Maybe alternative shooting button better suited to playing with arrows instead of WSAD would be helpful (or rebinding option, unfortunately I didn't have time for that). Thanks for feedback, it's helpful for future games (or maybe post-jam version of this one if I decide to make one).

@skeudi Thanks! I made enemies to try to throw off the player when standing on top of each other but it doesn't work every time, sorry, did my best.
Funny game,enemies too good
So simple but soo good. Had a lot fun, well done!

So simple yet so good, and good job on the AI. This would make a very fun multiplayer game btw if you ever work on it further. Congrat!

nice simple and clear, I really liked the simple graphics :D
Simple, addicting, superfun and can I say I'm impressed as to how good the AI is? In its simplicity it's actually more in-depth than it first lets up to be, I was thinking I could cheese this easily and take my time but no, you want to be extra smart and extra careful.
Did not expect it... Congrats.

Great Game! Got to 374 meters. When you get the hang of it it's just a matter of not making mistakes. As others pointed out the gameplay is addictive and well made.
The AI is just great and part of what makes this game fun, though I would put some randomness into it - for example you can shoot enemy and make him duck, but knowing that it always gets back up after a second you can easily shoot him with your next bullet. But obviously this is something if you want a bit harder for people who get into it, for the game jam it's just perfect - makes you feel awarder when you figure it out!
Also as another commenter pointed out this game can profit greatly from some sort of local 2-player multiplayer - something akin to Nidhogg.

@vidim888 Thanks! Actually there is some randomness: enemies can sometimes get up after a longer time, also their reaction time is slightly randomized. But yeah, it probably needs some adjustments.
When my friend was playing this game, he said that it gives some Nidhogg vibes, maybe I should play it and try to include similar multiplayer in my game, as you said.
@legolula @niccolo-temperanza @vidim888 Thanks for praising the AI. I'm actually surprised how well it turned out, especially knowing how simple it is.
Nice little graphics !

@did108 Magic in simplicity!
Okay, I actually did not really notice the randomness. Great that you have it! I add it everywhere in my jam games - makes a game feel bigger and adds some replayability.
Fun and kinda addictive gameplay. But a little bit hard for me hahah. Nice game!
I like the simplicity. Reminds me of old Atari games.
A pretty interesting game, the fact that you only reload once every 10 seconds was interesting, definitely got killed because I forgot about that, overall a fun experience. - Peter
Really funny game, I enjoyed jumping on my enemy's head where he couldn't shoot me. Great job!
Very fun! Made it to 300m. Nice job!

Really solid game! Core mechanics is well used and having button prompts for multiple different controllers is a great level of polish (I dug out a DualShock4 just to check XD).
Slightly out of the normal bounds of the game, but had a fun time seeing if I could get the enemies to shoot each other so I could save on bullets.
The floor and ceiling gave me a bit of nostalgia for old ZX Spectrum graphics too!
Also built a totem pole trying the popular "jump on the enemy's head to reload" trick

Simple, but well polished. The only complaint I'd have is that the keyboard controls weren't the most intuitive, but it's a very minor issue and I got used to them pretty quickly.

@erukolindo Thanks! What would be more intuitive for you?

Super simple, super neat! Once you get into the rhythm of how enemies behave, you can take them out pretty effectively. Satisfying. Would love to see more enemy types.
@dod108 For using WASD, having the fire button on Shift or Ctrl would allow for playing with just one hand. For using both hands I'm personally more used to using the arrow keys for movement + ZXC or ASD for other actions.
This is a nice little game! It works well, and it's easy to understand. With a controller, the gameplay is flawless. The ennemy AI is fine.
The only thing I would add is some kind of variations in the environment. After some point, it feels a little boring (but hey, it's a jam game, there's nothing wrong here, don't worry).
It's a simple but efficient game (and fun! that's important), congratulations!

Btw, "You died"? Is it a souls-like? :D
dod108
2022-10-11 07:43
@chocolat-endive Not a souls-like because it has no roll button XD
I agree that more variation would be nice, as you noticed it's lacking due to the time constraint.
Thanks for feedback!
