Pretty cool, you don't see many games of this style anymore. I ran into a bug. After I got to the factory I died by a turret. After that every time I made a character once I moved to select one of the starting options after creation it would open the gravestone back up and restart me.
Okay, this was neat, a text adventure. Made a scout with 10 foraging and started traveling to the factory with Freda. Taking plenty of survival turned out to be a good choice, since there were a ton of rolls to forage for food. Managed to turn off the factory with Freda's help.
Imma actually keep it on the desk, i really like it! Text-based games are rare today, but will never get old. I had a little bug where a bartender gave me 200+ headaxes, but that's all. Great job!
@ethanzech Found the bug you were talking about. The death scene wasn't clearing correctly after the restart of the game so if you died at all then tried to select any of the options but the first in the initial scene it would think you had died again. The only work around for it right now is to choose to leave right away when first starting out.
@octahedronsoftware Survival skills are very important when getting through the wilderness. Stocking up on rations before hand helps and there's also a companion you can get that's very good at hunting. Also even with low survival skills it shouldn't be too difficult to survive. You just have to spend more time hunting.
@florianbald Glad you like it. If you have any more info on how you got the bartender to give you more hand axes than anyone could ever need I'd like to look into it, have been unable to recreate it myself.
I really enjoy games like this, just a plunge into a mysterious and magical lore. A world lush with fantasy elements, technowizardry, and great dangers around every corner - all through that lovely retro text style. Very well done!

Managed to turn off the factory with a scout with high combat skills. Nice work!
@ugly-robot Glad you enjoyed it, and that was the feeling I was going for. A kind of science fantasy pulp story.
@potkirland Haha! Hopefully you didn't have to play the entire game like that. Played more King's Quest than Leisure Suit Larry myself but the same roots are there.
@ranseur Good job, and thanks for the praise.
@unpronounceable lol i was just having fun on the screenshot  there was no problem whatsoever
Bug: At the turrets, choosing "Investigate" or "Shoot" resulted in the opposite action.
But I was still able to get the Power Down ending. This was a fun little adventure.
@sethjmoore Congratulations, that's the hardest ending to get. Found what was causes that issue. Was a sloppy copy and paste issue. The investigate choice is pointing to the shoot resolution scenes.
I got the turned off ending, I survived being mauled by a bear so seemed like a pretty ok result to me. Reminds me of old text adventures but without the cryptic grammar gameplay (thankfully). Actually more like a choose your own adventure style book. Whatever genre of game you would call it, I certainly enjoyed the experience. I thought the writing was pretty good and had enough strange and unexpected encounters to keep me entertained. A good time was had, Thanks.

I was shot by the turret, oh well. Very nice game, I might return to it later! I like that events are non-linear, and you may gain necessary items later in the game, if you missed them earlier. Well done! Inventory limit is also a good addition, adds one more dimension to decision-making. OVerall, very pleasant game.
I really didn't expect to see a game like this here, this is very nice and I miss this style of games and interfaces. Although, my surviving results weren't great)
Fun little journey. Got to a factory and died to a turret. Some obvious grammatical errors, don't know if that's due to random generation stuff or just rushing through creating the text for the game, but either way just something that could be ironed out over time. Other than that, everything seemed to work correctly for me.
@automatonvx The verb hunting in old text adventure games was always my least favorite part of them which is why I avoided it here. Also meant less writing. Also good job surviving the bear, it's probably the most dangerous encounter you can have in the wilderness.
@bootak The event design was based on trying to make sure no matter how you built your character there's something you'll be able to do better than a different character. A similar process went into the items which are useful. Though there was one item that was going to be used but I cut the scene it was going to be used in due to time constraints.
@lesinvisible I always thought there was a certain charm to terminal based UIs. It also helps because I'm not a particularly good artist so the game doesn't hit on one of my weak points. It instead hits on English grammar which is one of my other weak points.
@apples-mmmmmmmm Any text that looks like it was generated by a random text generator was to try and show how the robots were broken. There are a few places it's used and I was worried it would be a bit confusing. The writing also was rushed, a quick and dirty estimate puts it at about 14200 words (although there are lots of repeats and simple variations). If I do another one of text game in the future I need to find a way to do it in an editor that has auto-correct to help.
I liked this game quite a bit. The retro style was really nice. I managed to complete it too, turning off the factory.
Dang, that's a lot of writing in 48 hours! When I tried a narrative game a few Ludum Dares ago, I didn't manage nearly that much. Well done!
@abdonatioera Good job and glad you enjoyed it.
@caeonosphere It was a lot, barely made the deadline and didn't have enough time to do thorough testing. But like I've mentioned before it was helped by repeated text and some that's slight variations. All skill checks have three results, usually the failure and costly success results were similar enough that I could copy one and make some changes to make the other.

Fun game! Way more narrative than I was expecting! I got the "turned off" ending. I really enjoy text-based games like this (even made one myself this time ^_^).

I suddenly remembered I downloaded this couple weeks ago and decided to play it at some point later. It took quite some leg work to find this page (I wish LD has better mechanisms for that).
Anyway, I love it. Unique setting, compact story that keeps me interested, lots of variations based on decisions and rolls. It running in cmd prompt based off a single executable is a plus. Though I wish it could be full screen, and orange highlight of selected option's white text is very hard to read, other than that the interface is an ascii beauty.
Also I am surprised at how well thought of the game is, and the size my party grew to. I couldn't help but spot a few mistakes in texts (example: "The turrets retract and the voice tells two among sir sorry men court.") but it's no big deal, just feels bad that I can't know what the text was meant to say. Anyway, I got the "turned off" ending, will give it another go and try out possibilities. Good job!
