10/10 would play again

2021-04-26 21:38

A lovely novella from Team 70 Bananas. Completed well within the scope of the jam, very functional on a first play through, and an introduction and epilogue to frame the action. Well done guys!

2021-04-26 21:40

Dayum son this some fire! I'll be on the lookout for more games by team70bananas in the future, check this out or check out.

This is an excellent source of therapy *citation needed*.

bottles in brain = bad, batteries in brain = good

excellent game, saved me spending 5 figures on a neurology PhD

10/10

Short and sweet. A well crafted and fun little experience.

funambulist-cat 2021-04-27 11:07

Hi ! Nice built game ! Specially loved the graphics with its roughly and organic aspect, the challenges were great (tried many times :D), the audio too and fun intro !! (shaaarp teeth indeed T_T !)

gimmers 2021-04-27 12:13

@funambulist-cat Thanks for playing it and the kind words! :)

mramor 2021-04-27 22:09

I loved that intro and that graphic, but idea kind of confusing

caeonosphere 2021-04-28 05:19

Fun animation and art style! Pretty unforgiving hitboxes, though, I must say — it was a lot harder than I expected.

mighty-mufflon-games 2021-04-28 20:27

Original idea. Really like the intro and outro of the game. Level design and controls working well togehter.

kitty-mama 2021-04-28 21:25

Fun little game! It made me think of Ms. Frizzle and the Magic School Bus. A good time! Pretty tough, though I wouldn't say overly so. Well done! Love the direction you took the theme.

merlinnsound 2021-04-28 21:33

I had quite a tense time with this. During my playthrough I hated your choice of checkpoints and wanted to quit. Put I pushed through and got better at it. I liked the graphics and animations, but the music was just amazing! Keep on the good work.

mitsouko 2021-04-28 21:35

@mighty-mufflon-games Thank you so much for your feedback - glad you enjoyed the intro and outro!

gimmers 2021-04-28 21:41

@kitty-mama thanks for playing! You're right, it's just like the magic schoolbus (but maybe not as trippy?)

gimmers 2021-04-28 21:42

@merlinnsound Thanks for sticking with it, through the frustration! It definitely could do with a little toning down in terms of difficulty. Thanks for the lovely words regarding the art and music! @mitsouko did a great job on both :)

chrisap 2021-04-28 22:38

"Everyone knows the brain runs on AAA batteries" LOL I really like the way the first level played in a circular radius way, it was very creative and different. The level design is brutal but I beat the mental traumas. I really like the idea of using fuel and HP as the same resource, it makes for some interesting choices where I can decide to book it even though I might get hit, or take it slow and easy making sure not to get hit along the way, allows for two different play styles. <3 <3

jmartinez-gamedev 2021-04-28 22:44

Great imaginative interpretation of the insides of a brain :) I enjoyed the animations a lot!!. As a piece of feedback I'd say the batteries should recharge faster. Good job!

christian-jallas 2021-04-28 22:59

nice cutscene

arguablyarugula 2021-04-29 06:26

The spikes were a bit much in the heart at times. That aside, really unique take on things, and fun to play.

vitor-milioni 2021-04-29 17:33

Really fun and well made, the way the scenery rotates with you movement in a circular way is very cool and works really well, perhaps should happen even inside the heart but i digress. The art is superb, it's very simple and eerie, matches the tone of the game perfectly, the background music as well, gave me kind of a twilight zone vibe, really really good. I would add that maybe the life shouldn't be drained by time, then you could space the batteries more and maybe have them be a pickup, also it's a tiny bit hard to notice the transitions from the liquid where you can steer and the air where you cannot. Overall a very very good game, the handling of the player feels nice and the collisions fair, great job!

sharkmax218 2021-04-29 18:09

Nice atmosphere! When you play, you can imagine, that the game map is you!

shubart 2021-04-29 19:56

Excellent idea. By themselves intro and outro are worth playing the game. Nice music too. Thank you for your game

judgeclark 2021-04-29 20:51

Quite tough in places, I really liked the organic style art.

matejag 2021-04-29 22:22

Wohoa! Nice intro and game concept. But it's really challenging! So many spikes! I think some parts are impossible to get through without getting hurt. The art is also nice and the "mission" music fits well. ;)

kr0s 2021-04-30 02:34

Nice game, I liked the cutscenes, the atmosphere of the game, the art, and the overall concept. I agree with Vitor, though, about the time-draining life mechanic.

xpoho 2021-04-30 07:35

Психотерапия - штука сложная. Лечишь человека, лечишь - а у него, оказывается, таракан в голове. А то и несколько. Спасибо за игру! ^_^

gimmers 2021-04-30 08:55

@chrisap Thanks for playing dude! And also thank you for the lovely feedback. Looking forward to catching you stream again sometime :)

gimmers 2021-04-30 08:57

@jmartinez-gamedev Thank you for the feedback, glad you liked the animations and enjoyed the insideyness! I think you might be right about the batteries, it could have done with some tweaking.

gimmers 2021-04-30 08:58

@christian-jallas Thanks dude! A lot of work was put into that haha

gimmers 2021-04-30 08:58

@arguablyarugula There are definitely a lot of spikes, and the hitboxes aren't the most friendly. Glad you found it interesting and fun to play though!

gimmers 2021-04-30 09:05

@vitor-milioni Thanks so much for the larger review! Also great suggestions. We did have an internal back and forth about the batteries as a pickup but decided to go with "safety zones" instead. You have a great eye for many things that we thought about but didn't have the time (or maybe energy) to sort out haha, but glad to hear them mentioned because that justifies that they would still be valuable changes. Thanks so much for playing and for the kind words, glad you had fun with it and enjoyed the art!

gimmers 2021-04-30 09:06

@sharkmax218 You're right haha, thanks for playing!

gimmers 2021-04-30 09:06

@shubart Lovely words for our artist and audio person @mitsouko :) Thank you for playing it!

gimmers 2021-04-30 09:07

@judgeclark It definitely isn't for the faint of heart (or brain?). Glad you enjoyed the art, thanks for playing!

gimmers 2021-04-30 09:08

@matejag Thanks so much! I think you might be right, some areas are a little.. dangerous shall we say. Thanks for playing!

gimmers 2021-04-30 09:09

@kr0s Thanks so much for playing, the kind words and for the extra bit of feedback. We'll take note!

gimmers 2021-04-30 09:10

@xpoho You are right! There are many challenges to face inside the mind.. Thanks for playing :)

rodrysson 2021-05-03 09:41

I liked a lot the first animation ahahaha it sets the mood! I think i had some problems with the collisions in the first level, but I liked the rotation movement of the world! Nice job!

oco 2021-05-10 21:14

wow thats an entire movie in the first cutscene, super cool! I thought the spiraling map was unique and fun to navigate. My secret technique is to get as fall as I can within the cooldown time limit after getting injured :^). Appreciated the rechargeable batteries.

The music was very good, though the water and meaty sound effects felt cursed (in a good way).

laulau 2021-05-12 08:43

really enjoyed it! 100%'d the game on my third try, really liked the "second phase" of the game, overall a recommended experience

aifryz101 2021-05-16 21:49

"Neuro Diver? YES" - this summarizes all I want to say about this game. Core gameplay is fun, it's challenging yet playable. Everythig is wrapped in a gorgeous package of music and captivating artstyle. But those dreaded spikes! They are the least fair enemy. The initial cutscene was cherry on top. Great job!
