This was a cool riff on the theme and on the genre! I had a pretty hard time getting my movement juuuust so to make the most of every second on the recorder though, it's tough!

@bearcage thanks for the feedback! Hint: try to collect more tape and use rewind to your advantage :)
This is a really cool idea, but I had a hard time figuring out how to use my abilities in order to progress. Could use a tutorial with the basics of how to use the recorder if you end up doing more with this. The art is really nice, and it fits the theme really well!
Woah! Really good job! There were lots of things here I haven't seen before.
Beautiful graphics, great map design, and really cool idea. Agree with others that it was tough, but the mood was solid enough that it made it worthwhile. Great work!
You really have to put your brain to work to solve the puzzles, but it’s perfectly executed—well done!
Pretty hard puzzles, but they are really well-done!
This is really, really impressive. The puzzles required a little more brainpower than I had available while playing it, but the overall game itself is fantastic. As a technical achievement, I can't imagine how hard it was to get the mechanics and engine working as well as they do. In terms of audio, the way the music scrubbed forward/back was a SUPER cool effect, and it added a neat meta-layer to the experience in a way that I haven't seen a lot of other jam games do. The sounds were perfectly appropriate for what the game was.
In terms of look and feel, things felt clean and precise, and there was a sort of melancholic-wistfulness-infused-with-hope to the overall experience that I really appreciated. It felt like it had a clear identity and sense of what it wanted to be.
Very well done - one of the more polished entries I've seen for a jam game!
Great gameplay and execution, very polished. This is a lot of content for a 3 day game jam!
Absolutely beautiful visuals, and the movement feels fantastic! The recording and rewinding mechanic is pure genius. It really makes you think carefully about every move you make and adds so much depth to the gameplay. A masterpiece, without a doubt! Amazing work!
Fantastic mechanics, but a bit difficult for me. love game!
Beautiful game. Tricky and so detailed. I'm so impressed!! Congratulations!
The gameplay is really fun I like the rewinding mechanic a lot and it made it a fun challenge. The visuals were also really good. I do wish there was a way to reset the recording though.
@thanatosisanoob thanks for playing, and we appreciate your feedback! It was intentional to not add a recording reset mechanic as this is part of the puzzle design. Try it again with this perspective and let us know what do you think :)
Such a cozy game!
I got PTSD from Braid (in a good way :D). Very polished game!
I really liked the game, the mechanic is really creative, it took me a while to realize what the character could do but it was satisfying to discover it by myself ! I think I almost reached the end, I don't know what you are supposed to do after reaching the top of the church
I really like the idea, is overall a very polish game, I wish there were a way to delete the recording that I did, as it was super annoying when it was overriding what I did. I couldn't get the third tape recorder, I didn't know what to do after watering the big tree... But overall it is a pretty cool game
Really impressive amount of polish on this, possibly there were a few too many text bubbles to start with but that's just nit picky...
Its a really interesting concept and the overall polish you achieved is really impressive for a gamejam! The graphics are simple yet really charming and easy to read, which is really good for this kind of game. I really loved the CRT shader! The signal interference was a really nice touch! I wish the game was just a lil bit more intuitive, tbh, I spent like 30 minutes trying to get out of the chimney in the beginning (I actually achieved it, just to realize something was wrong 'cause it was a dead end). The difficulty is quite high for some of the puzzles, but its really impressive to be able to come up with this stuff in such a short period of time! Overall, really cool entry! :) Thank you for the game.
Undoubtedly impressive. The text has that familiar LLM flavor to it. Agree with others that the mechanics could have used a more formal tutorial, especially figuring out how to make use of the vines.
@div00 ohh ok ic. I never particularly hated the lack of a reset. Js a minor thing. It does make the game harder and require more attention to details and I enjoyed that too :)
This is really impressive, and a super unique idea! I had a bit of a hard time getting my head around it so I think it you were to improve it would need a bit more of a tutorial
This is so awesome!
This is a very polished game! I found it a little hard to wrap my head around the rewind mechanics at first but after I got it, these puzzles are very well designed around it. Nice work!
It’s too big a game, of course. But the concept is interesting and enjoyable. There’s not even anything to say about the controls or anything else — everything was fine.
@remink Yes, also thinking if a reminder of the flag (which you found in the attic in the beginning) would be helpful at the church...
@neeko69 @thanatosisanoob but you can always re-record and therefore overwrite what you had before on the tape, so you basically have a free "reset" ?
@stefan-b I think it would be less annoying if you could just fully erase a part of the recorder, without having to override, Like I'm holding an item in hand, but since my previous recording was also holding that item, that item disappears from my hands, and I have to keep rewind and overriding.
@neeko69 i see your point... or maybe, if you hold it, you have the override and the copy does not take it away from you 🤔
The game looks great, and you can tell a lot of care went into making it. But honestly, I couldn't figure it out. =\
I mean, I understood the general idea, but as soon as I picked up the radio, my movement became limited to 100 units, even though I hadn't started recording anything. And I couldn't seem to drop it to move around as freely as I did before picking it up.
I'm not sure if I missed something or if I ran into a bug.
Nice challenging puzzles, great art style. Thanks for the game!
What a brilliant puzzle game!!!!
Very neat concept, and it looks so cool. Amazing, I love it so much!!
Wow!! Such a beautifully done game!! Loved the art, music, the mechanic, the puzzles and overall mood of the game so much!
Cool concept. But the beginning almost put me off. The cutscene showed a hole in the roof, so I tried to climb through it and crashed the game. Then I had my girlfriend give it a try, and she just kept moving the crate from side to side until, at some point, she pushed it right up against the pressure plate. Neither of us realized it was even a pressure plate.
Loved the game!! It was so fun but a bit hard.
What a thought very cool! Tho at first my head was aching from unertsanding but then using your clone afterwards was fun!
Amazing idea and realisation! Graphics and sounds fits perfectly the intended mood, and it's engaging to try finishing the puzzles. However, I didn't manage to get to the end. Too much controls, each needing to be carefully mastered separately, I ended more than I wanted rewriting among important record because of confusing two keys, or failing a rope jump series I yet did without issue a minute ago… And at the end I was stucked, not understanding what I have to do next, where to go next, or just how to do the next step I felt I had too, if even it's really the next step or not (f.ex. reach the opened roof just behind the right of the second recorder). I even can't tell where is the third recorder at this point. However, the game still is good (even if I find it hard for a jam entry :P), so: well done!
I absolutely LOVED Overdub. It might be one of my favorite games from LD 60 so far.
At first, it was a bit tricky to grasp how things worked—even with the tutorial provided—but that’s on me, and it’s just part of the learning curve. I’ve always enjoyed games that play with time and time manipulation. Overdub reminds me of Braid, and the mechanic of switching between elements is a very welcome addition. When I realized that the environment changed whenever I swapped elements, a lightbulb went off! Every new tape I found brought a sense of joy and the hope of extending the timeline. What a great feeling. I reached a small garden at the top of the tower, but nothing happened other than the flowers growing. There was no end screen or any indication that the game concluded there. I climbed onto clouds, reached the top of the tower, and even went past the house, but nothing else occurred. Am I supposed to assume the mission is complete? Both the graphics and the sound are beautiful and exceptionally well-crafted. It’s the kind of quality you’d expect from a game released on a platform like Steam.
Congratulations to the team on an excellent game.
