LD47 — Stuck in a loop

The Flying Postman by auxC 2020-10-06T03:52:23Z

This is legit fun! Love the controls - feels super smooth, and very satisfying to navigate.

Love the unadorned style - strategic minimalism at its best! Would have liked a little texture on the walls for some visual variety but really enjoyed it.

It felt a little tough to react in time to be able to navigate to collect the waypoints items, but the collision detection was generous enough that it never felt cheap.

Excellent output overall!

Over Unity - A puzzle game by nardandas 2020-10-06T04:05:01Z

Excellently executed style, playfeel and atmosphere, but I was not sure how to proceed through the first level. Maybe perpetual motion isn't my strong suit?

Would love to see it expanded with a tutorial/introduction so I don't feel so clumsy!

A Letter to Haedrics Wife by AndideBob 2020-10-06T07:11:40Z

Good execution of the theme - not a lot of gameplay per se, but a fun way kill 10 minutes for sure. Graphics are low-fidelity, but it works quite well with the overall style and art. The music was light and jaunty at first but got a little repetitive as I went through the various events.

Really appreciated this one!

A Night Around the Fire by arron-fowler 2020-10-06T07:19:53Z

Wow - this is great! A little thin on the 'gameplay' parts - wish I had a score to try to beat, or some kind of metric for whether I'm doing well or not - but the execution is top notch. The art style is perfectly minimalist, and the overall mood is clear and well-executed. Could see this turned into a full-fledged title easily, with a few bits added to spice up the gameplay/extend longevity.

Really nicely done overall!

Pig-em-Up: Lassos Are Loops, Too! by Jamison 2020-10-06T05:46:12Z

This is a hilarious submission, and surprisingly high quality given the multiple false-starts on prototypes that didn't pan out. The graphics are... well, they're not the strongest I've ever seen, but they actually work perfectly in the whole of the game, which is nice! The music and sound effects are a great match for the visuals.

The motion/feel of the lasso swinging around after the pig gets roped is really good - given such a simple gameplay mechanic, it really has to be right on, so, nicely done.

Very creative take on the theme too - not at all the direction my mind went in upon first seeing the theme, but it absolutely matches it.

...And again, dont steal from dead pharaons by ZMVL 2020-10-06T04:30:25Z

Fantastic game. Excellent take on the theme, captures a clear mood and sensibility, and doesn't include anything that doesn't need to be there. Would love to see this concept expanded into a full title.

Escape from LAB 2635 by Rein 2020-10-06T04:14:39Z

Shockingly fun for a game where I consistently die the same way, over and over again! I like the mild weirdness of the look and feel, and the mechanics are solid. Took me a while to realize you could boost/jump in the direction you were facing, but not a big deal.

After hearing it approximately 200 times, the punch-smack sound when you die is going to be haunting my dreams πŸ˜†

Bloody Loop by Ashkman 2020-10-07T02:11:42Z

The sound effects, oh god, the sound effects! That squishing sound will haunt me πŸ˜†

Really liked the feel of moving the worm character thing - lots of pleasant vibes there.

The look and feel were simple but nicely done, and the sound effects were very effective - possibly too much so! Really enjoyed seeing how everything came together

We are me: Solaris Sands by mind0o 2020-10-06T04:45:11Z

Great atmosphere and ambience. Definitely an ambitious take for a game jam - lots of things going on, lots of models/writing/voice acting, etc. Would love to know more about the development process - how the modeling/rigging/scripting labor was divided. Super cool - would play again!

TowerStuck by Edeneden 2020-10-06T03:58:07Z

Nice work! The mechanics are straightforward to figure out and the pace of the waves is solid.

The variety of items you can deploy is good too. That sound effect for the Tower o' Slime though... it's a little grating.

The subtle parallax when moving the mouse is a nice touch - feels good just to move around the board!

Co-Routine by MatchaFlavor 2020-10-06T04:57:50Z

Great concept, very nice execution and presentation. Didn't quite get how it related to the theme, but it's hardly the only game that that could be said about. I appreciated the way you made the simple block geometry/styling into a feature and matched the sonic aesthetic to it.

Had a little trouble figuring out how the different switches functioned even after reading the 'how to play', and it wasn't totally clear when I could/couldn't switch between robots, but that's the kind of thing that an extra hour or two of polishing time would fix.

Definitely a strong submission!

Co-Routine by MatchaFlavor 2020-10-06T05:18:51Z

Ahh, that makes sense! I think my favorite thing about this theme so far is seeing how wildly different everyone's ideas of 'stuck in a loop' are.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Reel Deep by frenchie 2021-04-27T05:00:31Z

Great look and feel. I liked the color scheme, and the oceanic vibe really comes through. The audio work is good - nice effects, good mix. The music is a well executed musical vision but didn't totally feel like it matched the mood of the different parts. The reeling-up tune was jaunty and for whatever reason gave me the sense of cruising along in the van in one of the Ninja Turtles games for the NES. Which is a curious association! But I like it.

I wish the fish were a little bit slower when you first get started but I might just not be good at this kind of game πŸ˜†

Nice work!

Duggy by neowhoru 2021-04-27T18:48:26Z

Nailed the feel of the old-school 8bit style! Sounds are sparse but perfect, the graphics are exactly what you'd expect for the genre. Definitely hits the theme, because... well, deeper and deeper, it's right there in the action! The controls felt a little unresponsive at times, but it could have been because I was playing in-browser. Overall nice work!

This Goes Deeper... by The Enigma 2021-04-27T21:19:51Z

I like the mood and the setting, and the graphics are a fun take on the theme. The controls are a little rough, and the exposition text is a little hard to follow, but that can all be tweaked with a little bit more time. Nice job.

Bun-ker Buster by Ziamor 2021-04-27T04:52:42Z

I love the art! This world is fun to be in. Colors are great, characters have personality, and I could see it being fleshed out into a full game.

The mechanics aren't super innovative but are nicely executed and decently polished for a weekend's worth of work. The controls are A little slippery feeling, but that might just be my own preferences. I really liked the horizontal acceleration of the main character - felt nice to just zip back and forth before digging.

Nice work!

Falling Rock by snip_man 2021-04-27T18:53:23Z

Such a simple concept seems like it should be boring, but this was actually super fun and very relaxing. Slap a new coat of paint on there and add some chill tunes, and this would fly off app store shelves. The physics felt good (wish the bounce as a little higher, but I understand it's a rock), and the level design had great pacing. Graphics are not amazing, but that doesn't detract from the enjoyment at all.

Swing Shroom by Quite Good 2021-04-27T07:47:51Z

Great atmosphere, fully formed look and feel, totally fine sound effects and excellent music.

Could easily see this getting fleshed out into a full game available for purchase in all the game app stores.

As someone mentioned, the level design leaves something to be desired, but you can't really be picky in about that kind of thing in a game created over a weekend.

Y'all should be proud - very nicely done overall!

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Stir Cry by icxon 2022-04-06T06:43:43Z

Fun concept, great art, solid execution! Like has been mentioned already, the aiming felt a little bit strange, but nothing a little tweaking couldn't fix. Loved the style, and the overall mood was light and breezy in a good way. The character selection screen was well done too - great work overall!

The Last Savior by JustusPan 2022-04-06T15:07:37Z

This is really impressive! The web version has massive slowdown issues, but that could be fixed with optimizations if you had a little bit more time. The environment and overall vibe felt coherent, and really had a sense of what it was and what it was trying to do. Nice work!

Battery Low by Milestone Games 2022-04-05T15:17:29Z

Really well executed - simple but not boring, and a really nicely conceived premise. The sounds were a perfect match, and the whole aesthetic felt like it really knew what it was about. Great work!

OSTRO by Totteri 2022-04-09T18:24:09Z

Really impressive! The aesthetic is spot on, and the progression of steps is exactly the right amount of challenge for the context. Well done!

Dads don't die by kremlebot 2022-04-05T15:21:28Z

As a concept, fantastic - the piano music was a perfect fit, and the whole scene captured a moment/mood really well. It wasn't clear what exactly I should be doing (except killing time before... the inevitable), but a strong kernel of an idea that could tell a great story.

Will Goo by Rafael Garcez 2022-04-05T15:30:10Z

Fun! Simple but well done for what it is. Graphics are fun, sound and music match well. The jump mechanic felt really satisfying, and the levels were surprisingly detailed for how simple-feeling the game was overall. The rate of the goo rise was a little bit too fast for me - I kept dying before it felt like I had played a "full" run through - which definitely fits with the theme, but was a little disappointing because I was genuinely enjoying bouncing around the level with the little alien dude. Nice work!

Why Sailors Drink by N.Y.R 2022-04-05T15:25:50Z

Great design! Looks very cool, and feels coherent. Love the color. The hissing sound in the background was a little bit much over time. Between the moving of the ship and the WASD navigation/interaction it feels kind of like two games at the same time, which is a neat feat but a little hard to focus on for the player. Definitely captures the theme, with the rising water level. Well done!

Life Finds a Way by Mopifish 2022-04-06T17:45:51Z

This was so good! The music was a perfect match, and the voice of the narration was absolutely spot on. The mechanics were really fun too - surprisingly fun for how simple they appeared to be, but the time management elements of it really made it engaging. The timing was a little bit too fast, to be honest, and it felt like I was getting overwhelmed beyond the scope of what I could reasonably do in the time frame, but that's nothing a little tweaking couldn't fix.

Really well done - you should be proud of your entry!

Galactic Crash by Zerox 2022-04-09T18:26:50Z

Fun idea! The execution is a little bit shaky, but understandable given the time constraints. I would definitely try a more fully-realized version of this!

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Cypon by tybantarnusa 2022-10-04T03:37:58Z

Great work! This is a fun entry - the graphics and controls could use a little polish, but I really love the upgrade mechanics and the frantic music/sound world. Lo-fi, but in a really effective way. Thanks for sharing your work

Steam-Machine Survival by Ivan Garcia Filho 2022-10-04T03:53:24Z

The mechanics are simple but feel great. Good crunch on the explosions upon enemy death, and very distinct feel. Felt a little bit thin as far as content etc. but that's kind of how it goes with some jams - still a fun time. Loved the lighting effects on the enemies. Having just finished it, it kind of reminds me of Flashback (albeit totally different).

Chromo Trigger by LandoSystems 2022-10-04T20:27:41Z

Wow, @100th-coin - thank you for recording and sharing your playthrough! It's amazing to see someone actually playing and enjoying something we made 🀩

10 Second Dojo by Secretmapper 2022-10-06T06:25:39Z

Simple, but fun - love the premise, and hitting a bunch of enemies in a row is extremely satisfying.

Great submission for a solo offering - nicely done!

Plop by Ayced 2022-10-04T03:40:57Z

A little bit confusing to me to try to get working but I really appreciate the uncluttered design and look-and-feel. Would have enjoyed some audio but that's always a tough one in a game jam situation.

Garden Panic by barret 2022-10-06T20:03:54Z

Love the look and feel of this - well done! The overall experience has a warm and friendly vibe and the playing is also just genuinely fun. Keep up the good work!

Reboot by Astrydax 2022-10-05T04:36:00Z

Wow - this is really really impressive! Never played the original so I can't compare it, but I enjoyed the premise and execution of this a lot. Anything with ghosts/multiverse-style many-playthroughs-at-once is always right up my alley, and this was a simple and elegant implementation of that idea. Great minimal graphics, appropriate music/sound - nice work!

Diagonally by PartySquadMember 2022-10-04T03:44:23Z

Very cool graphical style and feel. Strong music choices, and a lot of build clearly went into this just for the jam. As mentioned above, camera was pretty touchy, which was not ideal for the genre, but I see you've acknowledged that - always room to improve! Great work - thanks for sharing your output.

Headcount by Bogden 2022-10-04T04:19:18Z

Really really impressive. Great execution, profoundly minimal in look/feel, sound, and mechanics, but still super engaging.

Perihelion by Fuse in a Bowl 2022-10-06T06:30:51Z

Really nicely done. Simple premise, executed well. The graphics and sound really nailed the feel, and the 10-second cadence with the ramping up sound effect to indicate impending doom got a genuine OH GOD RUN FOR COVER urgency reaction.

Would love to know a little bit more about the world, but the minimalism is an effective choice.

Job well done overall.

The Madness of Martha by lavendaggers 2022-10-04T03:58:22Z

Very fun story. There is a wryness to the writing that is both cute and snarky - very endearing. The mechanics are pretty simple, so not a lot to judge there - but the art is spot-on and really captures a specific mood. Nice work!

LD52 — Harvest

Reapo Man: Death Who? by LandoSystems 2023-01-11T07:47:10Z

@niterich Glad you enjoyed! The music was fun - pretty much every melody/progression is repurposed/alluding to a different song about heaven/hell/reaping. Opening piano is playing the guitar part from Don't Fear The Reaper, with a chiptune synth playing the main guitar melody lines from the opening of Stairway to Heaven, both over the Another One Bites The Dust bassline. Second section is the chords for AC/DC Highway to Hell, with the melody for Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton, and the second half melody is from Heaven by Talking Heads. The breakdown/build starts with the death music from the original Legend of Zelda, and then builds up on the opening riff from Heaven On Their Minds from Jesus Christ Superstar, and then the second half of the second half, the melody from Dies Irae (which is kind of like a widely known allusion in music that's suggesting death/someone dying in the plot).

Dead Earnest by PoshDan 2023-01-10T19:08:20Z

Well done! The voxel look/engine really works for what you're going for, and it's impressive how well it runs even in-browser. Feels like a pretty strong Minecraft influence in terms of the look and feel, but doing it in an isometric view makes it feel fresh even though it's something most people are already familiar with. The gameplay itself is a little thin, but what's there is well executed. Not super clear what the end goal is, or to what extent I'm making progress towards it, but it feels good, and is solid for a weekend's worth of effort.

Nice work!

Hector the Apothecary by Daxic 2023-01-10T20:59:56Z

Impressive game! In true Ludum Dare form, I am not 100% sure what the goal is, or what many of the elements do in the actual game, but the mechanics around them are all very solid. Strong vibe, excellent visual and sonic identity, really complete-feeling experience. I've never worked with Unity before - how much of what's there e.g. modals, interaction events etc. come from Unity tooling, and how much did you have to write yourself? All of my (admittedly limited) experience making games has been in LibGDX - curious to learn about the process with other engines/toolsets

Bow Knight Drifter by Kostas Nik 2023-01-10T22:29:05Z

Nice work! The art and sound/music were spot on for the feel/genre, and the gameplay mechanics were intuitive and actually fun to use. The walking/swinging felt a little clunky, but it's understandable given the constraints of the LD jam format. It's a solid submission overall, but for being a 2-person team, it's extremely impressive output for a single weekend project. Little things to simplify the experience, like, having the merchant's list appear automatically whenever you approach, are nice user-experience touches that really make things feel smooth. Job well done.

Crop Rush by Multipixels 2023-01-12T20:09:13Z

For being such a simple-looking game, this is a surprisingly enjoyable gaming experience. Nothing fancy, but extremely well executed for what it is, and it successfully induces the "just one more try" compulsion from the jump.

Graphics aren't mind-blowing but work very well with the format, and the sound/audio is simple but effective. The little snip-snip sounds are very satisfying, and the minimal musical backdrop make it easy to zone out (or zone in?) on the gameplay itself.

Well done!

LD53 — Delivery

The Kings Scam by JCMonkey 2023-05-02T05:28:05Z

Very impressive motion/controls. Maybe I don't have a good sense of the complexity of making a working 3D FPS environment/engine, but I was definitely surprised at how high-quality (if very simple) the 3D work was. The feel of the arrows was nice - not particularly easy to hit targets, but very satisfying to try.

It very much had a vibe/feel to it that was enjoyable - and shockingly high frame rate for a web build.

Well done!

Asteroid Outlaws by GuitarBro 2023-05-02T05:16:51Z

Very impressive! The physics/motion felt very realistic - almost too much so, in that trying to steer and direct the ship and manage them momentum was definitely a challenge. The graphics and visual effects were all really solid, and the soundtrack definitely had personality.

Excellent work, especially for a 2-person team.

Special Delivery by Ismael Rodriguez 2023-05-02T05:21:13Z

Man - the feel of the physics was extremely solid. Really liked the 3D pixel-art aesthetic, and the feel of the package bouncing around was very satisfying. Couldn't figure out how to get the claw working, and it kind of felt like something wasn't working (I couldn't really get the package to go anywhere), but as far as a physics sim, it felt really, really nice - which is hard to manage. Good work!

Worm Eats Inc. by sillyman987 2023-05-03T17:38:58Z

Incredibly charming game. The pace was slow but somehow not boring? The music was perfectly matched, and the graphics were extremely simple but effective. Even though there was not much in the way of action (it's just clicking and dragging), the music being calming and the pace being just fast enough to feel like it wasn't stalled out was very enjoyable. Well done!

City Runners by ScalphaMission 2023-05-02T05:32:35Z

Man - very cool. The feel of the jump was a little bit too quick for my tastes, but it was fair in terms of navigation speed/complexity given the obstacles and terrain, so I can't fault it for my own personal preferences. The style and look-and-feel was distinctive, and the audio really worked well - even though it didn't fit the visual aesthetic necessarily it still felt like it worked well with the overall energy of the game.

Job well done!

Pack 'Em Up by OgelGames 2023-05-02T05:39:29Z

This game is the definition of less-is-more. Incredibly satisfying packing physics, straightforward and uncomplicated-but-deep mechanics, perfectly matched graphics, and sound that fit the game exactly right. I would have been impressed if this was a full weekend project, but for having pivoted from the main idea and turned it around in one day, this submission floored me. Job very well done.

Drone Delivery by chesschaser 2023-05-02T16:03:50Z

Nice work! Was a little it hard to tell where pickup/drop zone was because of the shadow effect (which was visually cool - just a lil confusing), but once I got that, it was a straightforward and fun challenge. Graphics/sound were very acceptable for a weekend game, and the story/premise was definitely relevant to the modern moment. Definite moments of anxiety when the low-battery alarm was going and I was far away from the charging station - overall a very solid offering!

Croc Crate Consignment by aschab 2023-05-03T16:26:25Z

It was a little unclear where I was supposed to go at first, but once I figured out the little white diamond shape was the arrow, it all made sense and I was able to actually play! The lighting effects were super cool, and I really appreciated the commentary from the croc. Collision detection was sometimes a little unpredictable, but the feel of the momentum of the different vehicles more than made up for it - it was super satisfying to drive/turn/stop on the package delivery pads. Music and sounds were perfectly appropriate for a LD game. Overall, very nicely done!

LD54 — Limited Space

Shootout! at High Noon by TheFoppian 2023-10-03T06:01:49Z

Great angle to take on the theme! The story/exposition parts were fun (although I did think this was a visual novel game for a bit), and the controls were straightforward. The graphics and sounds were exactly right for a jam game, and the amount of polish you were able to put into the other elements showed through.

Well done, team!

Space Ltd. by HolySparks 2023-10-02T23:24:03Z

Nice work team! The mechanics are fun, and it absolutely nails the theme. The MIDI music is a nice addition, and the graphics are perfectly reasonable for a jam entry. Really well rounded - thumbs up!

Firebounded by tucan 2023-10-03T05:30:39Z

This is a very cool premise and nicely executed as well. The idea is neat - I've never really seen a game work in that exact way, and it definitely fits the theme for this LD. Even after only playing it for a few minutes, I am still mentally "feeling" the rhythm/timing of the fire circle, which is a little surprising to be honest. The song and graphics fit the mood well, and it really conveyed a specific sense of place/feeling/identity of space. Nice work!

Traffic Tangle by WouterK12 2023-10-06T21:39:32Z

Incredibly impressive showing for a jam game - graphics/animation were spot on, the movement mechanics were very smooth, and the audio/music fit extremely well. The goal/aim of the game was not immediately obvious, but I am pretty sure I figured out what I was supposed to be doing after a couple of runs. Thumbs way up on this one - you should be proud of your work!

Space Knight by darzu 2023-10-03T05:56:46Z

Graphics are cool and the movement controls are really satisfying, but I didn't really have any clue what I was supposed to do or how it was all supposed to work. What was there was well-executed, but as a game it was a little hard to make sense of.

ASAP by Stevie257 2023-10-03T05:52:55Z

Very neat mechanic but the controls were a little hard to work on my machine. Scroll wheel was not consistent in rotating the pieces, which made it hard to know what was the game not working correctly and what was me not being very good at playing it. The graphical look and feel of the machine and the music and choice of audio were both great additions as well.

Other than the gameplay difficulties, this was a really well done entry!

LD55 — Summoning

Clone Stacking by CrociDB 2024-04-16T20:02:41Z

This is fun! I appreciated the minimalism on the graphics and sound - it was enough to get the job done, and didn't waste time with any frills. I was a little confused at first since the A key wasn't working, but then I realized you must have a different keyboard layout and it was the Z key on my machine that got things going. Excellent work for a jam weekend - the puzzles were easy, but I appreciate being able to complete a jam game in a reasonable amount of time.

Well done!

Wonder Whistle by Ismael Rodriguez 2024-04-16T05:49:21Z

Really impressive entry! Shows off what can be done by a team of one with the right skill set and good taste. Simple and familiar mechanics, but put into an interesting situation and presented with an eye and ear for quality. Graphics didn't require insane art talent, but were done extremely well in terms of what they were going for and the effect they had. Music was interesting to listen to without drawing too much attention to itself, and the vibe complemented the scene well.

Really coherent vision for a specific thing, executed well. Very nice work!

Nuki and The Cookbook by Tamino Laub 2024-04-17T16:59:43Z

A delightful snack of a game - well done! The graphics fit the mood well, and the overall execution is solid. The controls were a little clunky, but they worked fine for a jam game, and I was able to complete all the required tasks without trouble once I figured out what did what. Having the little helper goblin get summoned to deliver the item was a fun touch - I knew it was going to happen based on the description but it was still a little moment of surprise when he came up.

Job well done!

Library Fighter II Turbo by JoeShanahan 2024-04-16T22:02:01Z

This is fantastic! The graphics and sound were exactly right for the kind of feel it was going for, and the gameplay felt smooth and crisp. Our game was sort of similar in mechanics, but presents completely differently - I love seeing the contrast!

Also, love the subject matter - libraries are great, and it's always good to see their virtues being celebrated in everyday ways like this. It's also nice to have something that's a little different from the typical content/style/sense of place that game devs tend to gravitate towards in jams like this.

Really appreciated the vibe and execution that you were able to cultivate with such a focused, contained game experience - extremely well done!

Pulse of the Ethereal by DzejPi 2024-04-16T06:54:28Z

Very very cool! Strong Star Fox energy from it, but in its own way doing its own thing. Solid controls (I didn't realize the mouse aimed at first, and once I did it was like playing an entirely different game - fun experience!), good music, very decent graphics given the format and the time constraints.

It would have been cool to have some particle effects or other visual/sonic feedback for when you hit different targets, but there's only so much that can be done in a weekend.

Great job!

Bounce Bounce Goblin by Doonutsaur 2024-04-16T06:00:09Z

This is fun! Nice, coherent little gem of an entry. Straightforward mechanics, fun aesthetics, nice music and sound design choices, and an all-around polished feel.

Nice submission!

Summoning Bumper by MatthiasBroske 2024-04-16T20:08:25Z

I appreciate all the effort that went into this - very nicely rounded out for a jam game! The controls took a little bit of getting used to but once I got the hang of them it was flowing nicely. The look and feel and overall vibe is very nice - polished without being too formal! And the ongoing tutorial explanation was a nice touch - it's hard to teach mechanics in such a short window, but it did the job well.

The audio wasn't working the web build for some reason, which as a bummer - may have to try out one of the other versions to get the full experience. But job well done!

rotator by Gallant_Dev 2024-04-16T05:39:58Z

Really compelling overall vibe with this. The intro story was a little slow (or rather, it wasn't clear about what it was doing, so there were a few times where I thought the game was frozen as nothing was happening for a relatively long time). The mechanics were interesting - not super clear to me what I was supposed to do for a bit, but there was a very clear sense of what the game's overall feel/mood was about, which was impressive. Well done!

Chessummon by Def-Mane 2024-04-19T19:51:29Z

Great entry! Took a little bit to figure out some of the UI/interaction elements, but once I figured it out it was off to the races. Our entry was nominally similar to yours, but executed completely differently - I love being able to see the same idea come out in such totally dissimilar ways. The aesthetics were great - graphics were exactly right for what was needed, and the music/sound were chill and matched the vibe well. The sense of humor really aligned with my own - the line about the wizard's choice of headwear line got an audible chuckle from me. Nice work!

Angel Vox by Iwant_Pizza 2024-04-17T20:54:51Z

Really impressive work - incredibly robust for a jam game! The environment/ambience really conveys a specific sense of place, and the story/events unfold in a really great pace. Got a little stuck a couple of times because I didn't realize you could interact with certain elements, but got through it eventually.

Really nailed the feel, the graphics, and the audiovisual ambience - nice work!

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

If You Give A Mouse A Machinegun by Shaolin Dave 2024-10-10T05:36:22Z

Simple and straightforward! Love the premise and title - pretty self explanatory πŸ˜† Definitely a work in progress, but what was there was solid for what it was. Making games is hard in general, let alone in a single weekend - but I think this was a strong showing! Graphics were admittedly not AAA-quality, but they did the job they needed to do. Same with the audio, but I will say - it's easy for such a simple set of sounds to feel so repetitive they're annoying, but this never grated on me, which it easily could have. Nice work!

Gull and Ray by Mathstr0fficial 2024-10-21T22:57:50Z

Incredibly solid look, story, and general vibe. The graphics are charming (the noise shader for the waves is fantastic!), and the interaction model was solid. The actual gameplay was a little thin, and I was never really quite sure what I was doing, but the overall execution of what was there was spot on.

Really nailed the theme as well - and the names/personalities of each creature was clear, which is impressive given the development timeline!

Tiny Sanctuary by 03gramat 2024-10-10T05:39:59Z

Simple and effective - incredible work for 8 hours! Shocking how engaging it was given the fact that you're only one thing the whole time, and the whole effect was very peaceful and relaxing. It wasn't clear at first what the goal was, but it quickly became apparent with minimal explanation, which isn't easy. The music and sound really worked for the feel as well. Would have enjoyed being able to mousewheel to zoom in and out, but that's a big ask for such a short timeline. Great work, especially given the time spent on it!

Bee-Gone! by Attala 2024-10-10T05:52:14Z

Great work on this! The concept is simple but effective, and the execution is shockingly compelling! The positional audio with the bee swarm was really really impressive with headphones on - better than I've heard from some proper non-jam studio games even. The 3D models were great for the context, and the audio clips and effects were exactly right. Job well done overall!

TinyCrΓ©atures Company Simulator by mackain 2024-10-09T20:23:42Z

This is a fantastic game jam entry! A little bit of a stretch as far as the theme, but it is a really well done collection of mini-games, with a very strong sense of humor about it. The graphics and sound were simple but very effective for what they were doing, and the controls were so responsive I didn't mind their low-fidelity nature. Very well done!

Antonio by benjaminm 2024-10-10T06:07:54Z

Damn, what an effective experience! Legit trepidation wandering around not being able to see, and the first time the spider popped out was definitely memorable. Graphics were great for the purpose, sound worked well enough to support the overall vibe. The controls felt good as well - for a game that involves walking a creature around a space, the walking feel needs to be just right, and I think this nails it. Nice work on all sides.

runner by haztro 2024-10-10T05:46:30Z

This is an incredibly complete experience for 1 day's work - it wasn't clear exactly what I was doing at first, but once I figured out the resource management and controls, it became really engaging - much moreso than I expected it to, honestly. Graphics were great for being so simple and stripped down, and the sound effects had a surprising amount of feel for being such uncomplicated bleeps and bloops. Very nice work!

Wink and the Fae by Pious 2024-10-10T05:32:40Z

Really great job with this - the visuals had a strong, coherent sense to them, and the gameplay felt extremely responsive. When the mechanics are this simple, they live or die on how responsive they feel, and these nailed it. The music was a nice fit - I would have enjoyed a little more sonic variety, but there is only so much that can be done in a game jam weekend. Well done!

Tiny Colony by MrEliptik 2024-10-10T05:56:43Z

Really well done! Huge amount of content for a jam game. The team clearly knows what they're doing. Graphics were charming, gameplay and physics were spot on (although I did run into bugs with the slingshot a little bit frequently), and the audio was top tier. The song had Katamari vibes, but with a very Mario Sunshine/Animal Crossing-esque energy to it, too. Great entry all around!

Neckmeat's Tiny Adventure by Jerem Watts 2024-10-10T06:02:54Z

Unreal. Not sure what the deal is, but it works. Extremely strong vibe (albeit hard to pin down) but it all clicked. The overall experience feels like if an early Ween were turned into a game, which is not a thought I would have likely ever have had without having playing this game, so in that sense, it is a clear success! Very well done on all counts.

Molly the Mole by Linus Szokody 2024-10-09T20:13:39Z

A deeply charming entry for the jam! Very simple but very effective. Sound design is extremely well done, and the character is enjoyable. A couple of hiccups with the controls not being responsive consistently, but very reasonable for a game jam entry! For being such a simple game it has a lot of "vibe" to it - a lot of specific personality, and is executed well. Nice work!

B.E.E - Brave Explorer Evangeline by Pentaworks 2024-10-10T05:28:08Z

Love the feel and execution of this! Didn't have a ton of idea what the objectives were, but the movement mechanics were enjoyable enough that it didn't even matter. The visual style was great as well - simple, but effective. And even though the scale was small compared to human size, it felt grand and spacious. The music was good as well - strong 2010s synthwave energy and I am here for it! Job well done!

Journey from Critter Grove by galaxybat 2024-10-10T06:04:54Z

The vibes are off the charts with this one. Look and feel are extremely spot on for That Vibe, and it all came together very well. It's like if Toy Story and the Chuck E Cheese band got together in the forest. Very nice work!

Mimic by Lizz 2024-10-10T05:21:59Z

Simple but effective! I don't think I'd have the patience to craft this much text for a jam game - truly a slog, even when it's enjoyable The different branching paths are all shockingly detailed - and the fact that you were able to pin it all together with Twine is really impressive. Excellent workaround to have the YouTube link for ambiance as well - nice touch!

Battle Dots by nimbushead 2024-10-10T06:16:34Z

This is a very neat set of mechanics! I had a little trouble understand what the goal/process was supposed to be, but the colors and motion were satisfying to poke around and change the flow time on.

A little confusing, but you can tell there is care in the execution of what's there - nice work!

Green Shell by Kekwu 2024-10-10T06:12:34Z

Incredible storytelling on the cutscenes. The game itself was a neat idea and the look of it was solid, but it was pretty buggy to control. The just-in-time tutorial explanations showed a real attention and were really well done in a user-experience sense, especially for a jam game. The lack of audio was a little disappointing because I would have loved to get a peek into what this world would sound like, but understandable given the time constraints. Great work!

LD57 — Depths

The Cleaner of the depth by Egor Iv 2025-04-09T06:51:53Z

Absolutely gorgeous game. Had no idea what was going on or how to get the bird to actually do things in a way that matched what I was intending, but the vibe and overall aesthetic of the experience was top tier.

Coin Grind by jester1454 2025-04-08T19:27:58Z

Very impressive! Super minimal in presentation but unexpectedly deep in the execution. The controls were a little confusing at first but once I figured out the hit boxes and how switching weapons was meant to work, it clicked. The bomb is extremely satisfying to use The audio is great too - the effects are simple but spot on, and the music really sets the mood well (although the little bap in audio keeping it from seamlessly repeating due to how mp3s work always makes me die inside a little bit). Job very well done!

A Final Deed by 0X_VOID_X0 2025-04-08T19:35:30Z

This is great! A really neat take on the theme, and a well-executed idea overall. Took me a minute to understand some of the mechanics (I kept getting stuck on the "don't hit the key until the circle is filled in" because I thought it meant you had to not hit it at all), but I got it pretty quickly. The graphic style is super minimal, in a perfect way - it captures the old-school aesthetic but has the polish of a more modern version of it. Audio wasn't too complex and matched the mood perfectly. Very well done!

Depthshift by Snotax 2025-04-08T19:40:32Z

Couldn't make it past the tutorial screen, but the mechanic is extremely interesting - would love to see a more polished version of a game using this same idea! The music was a good touch and set the vibe nicely, and the graphic look and feel was simple but effective and really impressive for a jam game.

Into The Deep by clymm 2025-04-08T20:49:54Z

Incredibly impressive as a game jam entry at all, let alone for such a small team! Great vibe, excellent feel in the controls, surprising variety of things for such a straightforward entry. Very well done!

LD58 — Collector

Suck! It! Up! by Hjalte 2025-10-11T06:09:55Z

I cannot believe how much time I just spent playing this game. The premise is not immediately clear, but once you figure it out, it moves deeply into "just one more try" territory, both between levels and after getting a game-over. Great graphics, really well-done, non-invasive music and audio (which, given how simple the mechanics are, is pretty important. I got lost on a few things that weren't obvious (e.g. took me a couple of playthroughs to realize there was a countdown clock, and even though they're RIGHT THERE, I somehow missed the little descriptions for how the different animals/items figured into the scoring, which made it a little confusing how to proceed at first. All those minor gripes aside, this game has probably gotten more time from me than any jam game in recent memory - very well done!

Goomba Simulator 2025 by LandoSystems 2025-10-07T07:22:17Z

@ry0 and @grizwhirl Black screen of doom should now be fixed - feel free to give it another go if you're so inclined

Cardboard Collector by StefanHolst 2025-10-21T21:25:15Z

This is a very strange beast of a game, but I found myself enjoying it kind of a lot? Not much to do that I could discern, but the floatiness of the jump mechanic and the overall fog-swamp vibe was a surprising amount of fun to spend time in. Very confused, but impressed nonetheless!

If I Ran the (Alien) Zoo by UkuleleFury 2025-10-21T21:41:23Z

Love this. Great vibe, great aesthetics, and a simple mechanic that remains fun throughout a many-minute play session. Graphics were perfect for the feel, and the audio worked very well (the music track was great even though it didn't super fit the feel of the game IMO), and the premise was enough to keep me coming back. It wasn't immediately clear to me that there were specific items you needed to get, so I ended up getting yelled at by the alien for 3 or 4 rounds before I figured out what was going on, but once I did it was much more straightforward. Job very well done, team!

Skeledaddler! by Catusfelony 2025-10-11T05:49:08Z

Incredibly charming entry! It's simple and easy to grasp premise, with great controls and pitch-perfect music and sound design. Perfect graphics for the vibe, a shocking variety of level design, and a genuinely engaging mechanic. One of the most well-rounded entries I've seen - great work!

Booster Buster by Revetoon 2025-10-21T21:30:20Z

I was not prepared for how much I enjoyed this game! Graphics are a great version of that style of visual, and the overall flow of the game felt tight. The music was fun and didn't get repetitive (even though it was repeating), and the mechanic for using the cards was very engaging - lots of 'just one more turn'-itis with it. I wasn't totally clear how to advance and build the deck up, but using the cards to stave off the creatures' incursion was a lot of fun, and I'd be willing to play a more fleshed-out version of this game for more time than I'd like to admit. Well done!

F.L.O.P by Pentaworks 2025-10-11T05:42:11Z

What an absolute trip of a game πŸ˜† Loved the goofiness, premise was solid and the controls were not hard to learn. Took a quite a bit of practice to get the penguin to go where I wanted, but once I got a feel for it, it was quite a fun ride. Great idea and solid execution - well done!

Touch Mycelium by surf croc 2025-10-21T21:44:29Z

This is great! Was initially a little confused about why I couldn't pick anything until I restarted and saw that Shift was the crouch button, and then all was clear. Great aesthetics, simple but fun premise, nice ambience and overall feel, and absolutely nailed the theme.

Well done!
