I spent a supprisingly large amount of time packing trucks and sending them on their way, very relaxing and statisyfing to try and pack them to the brim. Great entry!

alex-chertilin 2023-05-01 16:18

I like the design so much. Audio and Graphics

I liked the packing mechanic. Could use some background music for sure and it's missing some key user-feedback items such as a score indicator that increments after each load, and an indication of when the game is going to end. Otherwise, pretty fun!

I think you can get away with speeding up the clock a bit more. It would also be nice to see a high score to beat.

Great work :)

Great idea for a game! I thought ringing the bell was a great idea off the bat, and the little LD logo on the truck was great! I think a score indicator or some kind of visual indication of how I'm doing would help keep the game engaging and add some extra incentive to the player. I also think your sound effects were great, but a few extra ones would make the game feel much more immersive.

This was honestly really fun, and has a lot of potential to expand on! Keep it up!

svenerik 2023-05-02 05:07

Agree with the previous commentator on the extra incentive to the player would be really nice. Overall I digged the game, very neat effects and a simple & yet lovely idea that has many ways to enhance it. Was a really nice little satisfying experience!

kinart 2023-05-02 05:18

I had headphones on and the truck sound was amazing with them. The game stressed me out! I didn't have any concept of how much time I actually had on the clock. I think something more obvious would be nice. That being said, I had a lot of fun desperately stacking as fast as I could.

pete-valeo 2023-05-02 05:39

This game is the definition of less-is-more. Incredibly satisfying packing physics, straightforward and uncomplicated-but-deep mechanics, perfectly matched graphics, and sound that fit the game exactly right. I would have been impressed if this was a full weekend project, but for having pivoted from the main idea and turned it around in one day, this submission floored me. Job very well done.

hanadulcet 2023-05-02 05:42

Packing felt very satisfying and the controls felt rewarding (I worried initially if it would be hard to "stuff" the boxes when they're overlapping a bit, etc., but never ran into any issues where I felt like the controls were not responding to what I wanted) - that's a huge win because where the packing part IS the main game mechanic. And on top of that, it was always so nice when a box fit just where I wanted it to go.

I did feel like I was packing for a really long time before the game ended (maybe a shorter "sprint" mode would be a fun idea)? Still, all in all, a fun time for sure!

danmerey 2023-05-02 05:44

Promicing concept and intriguing game mechanics, but I was pretty disappointed when found out that there's no reason to pack things right. You can just throw stuff inside and call another truck.

Nice graphics though. This could be improved and made into a small full game – just add some real goal and a reason to stack it "right".

batisdark 2023-05-02 06:00

Love the idea of tetris-like gameplay + constantly refreshing 'level'. Very impressive for one day - physics are satisfying, sounds are simple, but really nice with none being 'out of place' or 'too sharp', and art with anumations are on-point. Would love "overflow" scenario or high-score based on volume transported vs trucks used in the end, but its really too much to ask for such a little time spend.

twobitadder 2023-05-02 07:00

I appreciate the way things correct when they *almost* fit. The bell is also a very nice bit of UI, though I admit I am a bit of a dummy and didn't make the connection between starting the game with the bell and calling a new truck, so I was just kind of going "uhhh" and trying to fit in new boxes. To that end, sometimes it seemed like boxes were being thrown to the shadow realm when there wasn't room for them.

To be honest though, I also found that kind of a feature, lol. But yeah! I really like the concept and the actual loop itself has enough dopamine in it to make a great relaxing kind of game.

ruruie 2023-05-02 07:54

There is definitely something very satisfying about this. The correction and packing was great.

Thanks for all the positive feedback everyone!

@theartifacts Yeah, I wanted to add a little radio to play different music tracks, but I had to cut it to avoid the time-consuming task of picking the perfect music.

@theartifacts @whycardboard @svenerik Yes, a live score counter should have been in the game, it's one of the first things I'm going to work on for the post-jam version (and a leaderboard).

@theartifacts @kinart The clock indicates when the game will end, which is when the big hand goes around the clock once. Perhaps I should have made it more obvious...

@hanadulcet Yeah, I should have made it 3 minutes instead of 5, but I'm just gonna blame it on the time crunch not allowing for any playtesting

@danmerey Agreed. Initially I had planned on calculating the "wasted space" in the truck, and integrating that into the score somehow, but unfortunately I had to abandon that to get it done.

alpacalypse 2023-05-02 08:44

Very cute little game. The score reveal in particular made me smile. Cute and/or alarming logos on some of the boxes might have spiced things up.

forestofcode 2023-05-02 12:06

Wonderful concept and a really well polished game.

zombiebust3r 2023-05-02 12:52

Ah yes! This is some good stuff that satisfies my OCD. But because of how the physics and collisions work sometimes some slivers of space would be left and some combination of boxes would not fill the entire height of the truck. Probably not done because of time constraints but maybe using a grid based placement on the truck instead of physics would have been better? Leaving the physics only on the outside, love to play around throwing them around :)

zhiteng-chen 2023-05-02 12:53

The packaging feels very satisfying and the controls are very accomplished. The physics are satisfying. Welcome to play my game either/

shaunyeap 2023-05-03 07:40

finally know why my parcel sometime arrived with deformed and crumpled :joy:

wadlo 2023-05-04 01:13

Nice game. I packed it super full and it the boxes started glitching out. Was an interesting idea I haven't seen before. Also, Go Godot!

kypello 2023-05-04 02:19

this game gives me anxiety, I love it :)

ogelgames 2023-05-04 04:45

@alpacalypse The score reveal was a happy little accident, I liked it so I left it in, nice to hear you liked it too :) Adding stickers and logos is a great idea, definitely something for the post-jam version.

@zombiebust3r You just described exactly what I had planned to do! I ended up not doing it that way to save time, because the physics seemed good enough for the job. I definitely want to do it properly for the post-jam version though.

@shaunyeap Hehe, now I kinda want to add that to the game :D

rookrules 2023-05-05 06:32

literally if you send your best run of this to amazon they will immediately hire you 4/5

st00nsa 2023-05-06 11:45

Score: 83. Ok, I did the same thing a month ago in real life in IKEA. So was a bit prepared for it.

Nice crunchy pixel art. Love LD logo on track, moody.

digitaldude555 2023-05-06 11:50

Quite nice, great work for one day. It's a simple concept but very good execution. Never really felt the need to rotate the boxes, it didnt matter much. I agree on the guy that said it could use some stickers to spice things up visual though the visuals are still good.

pacha 2023-05-06 12:31

Scored 106 ! Not sure I was good at it but i enjoyed playing ! I like the fact that the boxes can fit by pushing the others even if it's getting a bit messy ! Really satisfying and fun ! Good job <3

kerri 2023-05-06 12:51

Had great fun playing this! Very satisfying and relaxing, even more so when I actually read the controls and realised you could rotate boxes! The bell is such an amazing little detail too

conduit 2023-05-07 04:37

For a 24 hour entry, that was really well done and a lot of fun! There's nothing I can really say negative about a plain and simple fun experience!

draconox 2023-05-07 04:43

That was super cool, loved it, scored great too, I think I'll play it when I need to focus on something soothing x)Capture.PNG

arron-fowler 2023-05-07 14:19

Lot's got done well in that day! It all worked pretty solidly. Occasionally the collision got a bit janky but generally all good. I liked the art style and the game loop was satisfying. Good work

weirdbitgames 2023-05-12 19:38

Gotta say I'm a big fan of physics-based games and packages (obviously!). The sounds were great as was the UI and HUD! This is really satisfying, well done!
