LD53 — Delivery

Forecast Folly by RetroSpecter 2023-05-03T23:51:52Z

I absolutely, absolutely adore this game. The jokes were light-hearted and fun, the game was easy to pick up and play, and the general vibes were so great.

Thank you for this wonderful weather game!

Had a fun time trying to beat folks' high scores! Music was a bop, and enjoyed trying to strategically dodge and aim amidst a bullet hell. It felt clean and intuitive, and I enjoyed it!

Stork Serenity by Mathstr0fficial 2023-05-07T03:00:37Z

Great game, great game. My thoughts on the game: - Biggest strength of the game is level design. Fantastic, fantastic level design that is puzzling at first, but makes you feel extremely satisfied when you figure it out (especially for the later puzzles). I wish I had like 100 of these levels, this is great for exercising the brain in a fun way. - Good tutorial levels make it extremely clear how each element of the puzzles work (and teaches them to you one at a time so that difficulty progression in the game is fair and well-paced). - The art + sprites are super cute and I love them - they add to an overall calm and pleasant mood for the game. - One tiny thing is that from time to time, the rain sound effect in the background gets pretty loud and starts to drown out the rest of the bird noises, etc.

I would honestly love to see like 100 levels of this game. If you end up expanding the game at all, please let me know - I really enjoyed it!

Pizza Bounce by theslate 2023-05-06T04:00:33Z

Enjoyed bouncing the pizzas from one side to the other! Simple and straightforward, but still fun to try to juggle everything and also avoid juggling the non-pizza objects!

Days on the Lake by nardandas 2023-05-06T04:45:41Z

I'm a fan of the water effect when you're boating around - it's well done! Also spent quite a bit of time trying to earn money to get upgrades and keep making the boat stronger.

One thing that was a bit tricky was not knowing exactly what to do at first - but once I got the hang of things, I had fun fighting other boats and making deliveries.

Congrats on the game!

SWAN SONG by Simon Rahnasto 2023-05-05T00:02:07Z

I saw that you were one rating away from getting scored, so I played through the game - and I was really, really glad I found your game. The game wasn't so scary that I couldn't play it, but was just the right amount of lack of visibility and sudden enemies (and darkness + eerie vibes) to keep me on edge.

Really great job of setting the mood and the tone in the game. I enjoyed the game a lot!

The Time I was Reincarnated as a Delivery Driver in a Video Game and had to ... by AMastryukov 2023-05-02T23:25:32Z

I really love the concept and the character art, along with the general plotline. I also think the game definitely fits in well with the delivery theme and had me enthralled (I was playing this for a good hour trying to get the delivery meters filled for all of the characters). I really, really, want to see all of the different endings!

I think the toughest part for me was that it was possible to get a "dud" delivery package where you've already filled someone's meter, but the package you pick up is for that person (and hence won't have any effect). So. you have to go all the way to their place and drop off the extra package in order to be able to pick up a new one. That made it very tough to get all of the meters full on a single run (especially if you start getting panicked and crash your car once you start rushing)!

Overall though, I love the vibe of the game, I love the music, and the game had me captivated for quite a while. Great work!

Swerved by Tony Redmer 2023-05-05T05:13:23Z

Funny and witty! A tad bit hectic for me, but I still enjoyed delivering crimes for folks. Thank you for the game!

NightClub DrugLord by Kentin_BK 2023-05-02T22:26:46Z

This was fantastic.

I absolutely love the way you get slightly stuck when you're trying to shove your way through a more crowded part of the dance floor (as compared to the more spacious areas) because it perfectly replicates that awkward feeling of "Excuse me! Pardon me! Coming through!" that we've all felt when we visit a nightclub and are trying to get back to our friend group in the middle of the club. It was also a great touch to filter the music when you're in the bathroom and unfilter as you leave (that kind of audio attention to detail makes me happy!).

The art style and theming is fun and fits the game perfectly, the moving dancers are both hilarious and well-made, and it really feels like a club. Like other folks, I'd love to see it get harder after some amount of time (maybe there are more security guards or each delivery grants you bonus time somehow)?

Also, in an ironic way, once you notice the security guard, it even almost feels like a horror game in some ways as you frantically make your way through the crowd to avoid the guard as he trails behind you. (That's a good thing - it got me motivated to get out of the way and evade him - and added to the pace of the game!)

Anyhow, great job. I love it!

Pack 'Em Up by OgelGames 2023-05-02T05:42:58Z

Packing felt very satisfying and the controls felt rewarding (I worried initially if it would be hard to "stuff" the boxes when they're overlapping a bit, etc., but never ran into any issues where I felt like the controls were not responding to what I wanted) - that's a huge win because where the packing part IS the main game mechanic. And on top of that, it was always so nice when a box fit just where I wanted it to go.

I did feel like I was packing for a really long time before the game ended (maybe a shorter "sprint" mode would be a fun idea)? Still, all in all, a fun time for sure!

Superstar Surgeon: a Sensitive Subject by Fupi 2023-05-04T18:20:24Z

When I saw the game's theme, I thought to myself, "It's really, really hard to tackle a topic like this and make it a fun/humorous game with taste. I hope it'll go ok." But you all erased all my concerns the moment I heard the first verse with the talkbox/vocode-y vocals combined with the pumped up music.

Witty and classy lyrics that leave you with a bit of melancholy inside even as you're laughing left me laughing as well amongst the melancholy. (I can definitely see why someone above mentioned Bo Burnham!) The characters are cute and expressive, all of the different art elements fit a consistent style, and combining the art with the music adds to the overall vibes perfectly.

The music's stuck in my head (in a good, catchy way) now that I've played through all the endings (I had to check out each of the different verses to see what would happen). Thank you for a great game - you guys did a fantastic job here.

Return To Sender by Aurailus 2023-05-03T21:13:07Z

This is an incredibly, incredibly complete game for the short time period in which it was made - and it was an absolute blast to play. I thought the game's commentary was also quite fitting for the theme, and the gameplay (trying to spot those differences) was paced fabulously (both in terms of how it started easy-ish, and then got trickier and trickier).

The art is absolutely great (and makes it very clear what the differences are even though they're hard to notice at first glance when you're in a rush). And moreover, the time pressure really adds a forcing function to keep you on your toes the whole game.

I really enjoyed playing the game (and enjoyed stressing myself out mildly while trying to frantically sort out the returns). A game with a clear message, funny jokes, and fantastic gameplay - definitely recommend!

Rail Blazer by alanxoc3 2023-05-02T05:27:42Z

Super fun game that had me racking my brains for the best way to try to navigate as efficiently as possible and not run out of money. Some of the procedurally generated levels were definitely quite difficult (there was one level where I really couldn't find any sheep for the life of me), but I still definitely enjoyed the challenge.

I love the art style and how it matches up to the theme and the straightforwardness of the game - I think the beauty of the game is how it was easy to understand and visually very clear, but difficult to master (which makes for a fantastic game experience for the player).

PSA for new players: if you're new to the game, keep your loops small at first, and keep your eyes peeled - you never know when a new resource might come in handy...

ClickExpress by JunaGames 2023-05-02T05:09:30Z

I didn't expect to get addicted so quickly, but I got addicted to clicking within seconds of opening the game (and I love the style of the bitcrush-y music that soared alongside the great mountain view). I spent quite a while clicking and making those numbers go up, and I enjoyed it. (It was especially therapeutic after a long weekend of game jamming.) Additional unlockable power-ups would be super fun to add to this!

Edit: At the time of editing this, I've amassed 17,773 deliveries and counting...

Little Oni by chris1919 2023-05-06T05:00:06Z

This is game is absolutely, absolutely amazing. One of my favorite games of the jam so far - it fits the theme well in a unique way, and the game mechanic of having to catch the baby is such a creative idea (and the perfect level of fun + challenging). The art and music style also add to the game ambience perfectly. Well done!

Meowxtape: Delivery by crow_seeds 2023-05-04T21:49:19Z

I saw someone on stream playing this game and I had to give it a try for myself. I loved this game so much - the plotline was both good and extremely funny, the texting while driving was full of so many funny moments and quips, and the raps themselves were full of great bars (especially so for a 3-day project). The art style is also perfect and adds to that vibe that you were going for.

Very rare to see a game with VA's as well (and great performances from the VA's)! Well done, well done.

Delivery Is EVERYTHING by SephoWepho 2023-05-04T19:14:02Z

I appreciate that you actually wrote stand-up comedy for this game - all while having a full game around it! I enjoyed that it wasn't just a "raw speed" typing game, but rather a timing game, which I liked. (After all, timing is a part of the delivery, and...delivery is everything!)

If there's one thing to add - a simple laugh track after the punchline (or setting up maybe like 4-5 laugh track samples that are randomly chosen after punchlines?) might add even more to the comedy club vibes.

But generally, I had fun - thank you for making this game!

Dungeons and Burgers by rusty_jpeg 2023-05-04T01:21:47Z

That was a fun, cute story! I enjoyed weaving and bobbing to avoid the boxing gloves that were desperately trying to keep me away from delivering food to our gamer boy.

I'm still not sure who the shape-shifting demon is? But aside from that, I enjoyed the game overall.

🗣️ MR SPEECH: The Purr-fect Pitch by Choo 2023-05-03T08:09:49Z

This was absolutely hilarious, and fun to play. I would love to invest in those sunglasses for cats - where can I invest?

Jokes aside, I thought the songs were great and super well done, and the jokes are absolutely on point. If I could give more than a 5 for humor, I would. Great game!

Sunset Delivery by nobiy 2023-05-03T08:21:12Z

I had fun with this game! Definitely found myself nodding along to the music as it bumped along - and it was satisfying when the game let me speed up even further (and it was fun trying to launch the deliveries of the cures while speeding along the road).

Beat Boxes by PonyGirlLuna 2023-05-02T04:51:42Z

I played through the whole song, and had a blast! The controls for the beatsaber mouse definitely felt responsive and quick, and not laggy [in spite of having really crisp graphic quality] - which is super crucial for any rhythm game. (As a rhythm game enthusiast, I really appreciated that.) And, I definitely got a good laugh out of seeing the boxes flying everywhere by the end.

One thing that was slightly tricky for me was that it was a bit hard to "reset" to the middle to get ready for the next note sometimes if notes were arriving quickly, because the zone between left and right was relatively narrow.

But overall, I had an absolute blast! Good choice of music as well - it was the perfect music for shoving those boxes around to the beat. Great work!

IGNN International Galactic News Network - Deliver The News by Adam Jenness 2023-05-02T21:55:35Z

This game forced me to actually exercise my logic skills from back when I was in school (which actually turned out to be quite a bit of fun). I enjoyed learning about all the different universes and realized how tricky it would be to disentangle the fake headlines from the real ones when the universes themselves are so different from ours. It turned out to be a great mental exercise!

One small thing I'd say is that it did take quite a while to read each headline (and while some of that is wording things a certain way to force the player to examine each statement carefully, I think another aspect of the clarity was the font, actually - it was hard to parse each headline on the right at a glance).

But overall, I enjoyed the game and was extremely glad to see that someone took the notion of "delivery" in this direction.

Top-tier voice acting for the newsdesk anchorman made me guffaw, as well - that part's absolutely an A-plus in my book.

LD54 — Limited Space

windowkill by torcado 2023-10-06T04:58:51Z

I really enjoyed the game from a mechanical standpoint - all of the movement feels super clean and nimble, and it really feels rewarding to hit the targets as you dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge your way through all of the enemies and enemy bullets. I also love the clean aesthetic that the game has overall. All in all, fantastic take on the limited space theme, and well done!

Bucket Buffet by Don Fouts 2023-10-05T04:58:01Z

This was a very funny game - I absolutely adore the take on the theme, and the quotes in the game absolutely made me roll on the floor laughing on my first playthrough (so much so that I did quite terribly on the first run of not wasting food by accident).

It'd be awesome to also have some sort of funny music in the background, but I did find the background ambient diner noise to be soothing and calming, honestly. The overall vibes were great - and I'm glad I got to play the game. Now to try to stuff even more food on my plate each time...

Thanks for the many laughs - keep up the awesome work!

Squeeze & Wiggle by YogurtTheHorse 2023-10-05T04:25:47Z

I really, really enjoyed the art of the game - along with the struggles of wiggling upwards and unfurling our slithering main character as we try to make it up. The pixel art style is really nice, and in particular, I loved the opening cutscenes that told us the story in just three well-drawn and well-animated panels. Well done!

Safe Space Passage by Kepsert 2023-10-05T04:39:29Z

I think this game definitely does a great job of adhering to the theme (the main mechanic really is all about that limited space and how to manipulate it well)! (Although, to echo sentiments above, it was definitely a bit tricky to get the hang of the mid-air rotations. It took me quite a while to figure out that I needed to rotate mid-air [or that I even could do so].)

The art is absolutely beautiful and I think that the overall vibes of the game are also fantastic. The color palette combined with the hands reaching out to grab you add to the general atmosphere in a way that's really, really well done and polished.

That end cutscene also made me feel all the feelings. (I had a very similar experience with one of my own grandparents not too long ago...)

Thank you for the wonderful game!

disembARK by Crygos 2023-10-06T04:38:12Z

The game had me laughing the whole time - especially with how derpy all of the animals looked as you went to grab them and toss them off the ark. Thank you for the humorous and clever take on the limited space idea - this is one of the funniest games I've seen all jam long.

Spectra by red-stake 2023-10-12T04:34:17Z

I enjoyed this game - I liked the general aesthetic and it felt nimble and agile when trying to move, dodge, and shoot all while the shape surrounding me shifted. I definitely agree with above folks that some audio feedback would help out, but otherwise I still found myself trying to survive for longer over and over again!

Fishpile by mina 2023-10-03T04:20:17Z

I love the idea - it's an innovative way to tie the theme in. The art is super cute and the game is also quite enjoyable to play; the music also adds just the right touch to the wonderfully cozy vibes of a day spent fi shin'.

The change to the music and the background when the sun sets for the nighttime is also fabulously done.

Thanks for the great game! ^^
