rain world 2 but like actually really fun game! it was super cute and fun to mess around with the snake guy
@burrowbling wow! That's a solid statement, haha! Thanks!
The pixel art is amazing! The mechanics are definitely a bit frustrating at first with the tail getting stuck behind, but you get used to them quickly enough. I was able to shoot the snake super fast by quickly pushing the tail bone forward and zoomed through some tunnels—super satisfying.
Great take on the theme! Love u 💖
I remember seeing a post about this!
This game was super fun and I'm proud to say I was able to beat it with a time of 9:22. I saw some of the other times were like half mine! The small narrative intro and outro were also a nice little extra cherry on top to this overall really great game. Good job on this!
Super satisfying, anti aliasing on the weird dragon worm (wagon for short) was done perfectly, squeeze and wiggle is an excellent way to sum up this wagons game!
Wonderful game! Gameplay very innovative and interesting, It was hard at first but I got used to it after a few minutes (I couldn't put the game in fullscreen on the HTML version). The music is beautiful and relaxing, I liked that it evolved gradually. The variety of visual is impressive, I really liked the atmosphere.
Great work!
reminded me a lot of rainworld, the physics worked really well. was able to beat it just before the 10min mark and have to say I really loved moving the snake boi around. really good job !
accidentally posted twice ignore this!
This game rocks! I really really love the mechanics even though it is very difficult. Once you get the hang of it you can really start flying. It would be so cool to see someone practice and speedrun it. The graphics are gorgeous. When I saw the prototyped posts you guys made I knew it would turn out very good. Fantastic work!
dude, this is AMAZING!!!! gorgeous graphics and really fun to play hehe
Loved this! Took a while to get it, but when combining the pausing with the pulling, it starts to click (even if you're using a trackpad!). Gorgeous art, great gameplay, and brilliant theming make for an awesome package!
One thing I wasn't sure about was what the number under the timer means, but that's a minor detail
@yndajas can you show what number are you talking about? We are not sure :(
@YogurtTheHorse looks like it's if you go over 10 minutes Screenshot 2023-10-03 at 03.18.19.png Screenshot 2023-10-03 at 04.02.34.png Screenshot 2023-10-03 at 04.03.29.png
@yndajas oof. Thanks. We will fix it soon. Timer width is too small
I love movement mechanic of your game, and maybe feel some vibes of "Getting Over It" 😅
What a beauty! Like how it turned out and the start / ending "cutscenes" are awesome as well. Nice entry, guys, love it!
At the beginning it feels like QWOP, but you are a snake. After getting a gist of it, navigating actually works pretty good. Though - spamming directional drags (and resting limbs on each other) lead to the possibility to fly around - don't know if that's intentional. Nice game!
Excellent job. I really like the time freeze mechanic for finer control
This is amazing! Really like this mechanic. Also art is pretty) At first when i saw your gifs it looked like it will be a hard game, but after a minute in your game or so it is really fast and comfortable!
I would like to make it to the end, but unfortunately i've got stuck xd Screenshot_1.png
@vafer hey! Thanks. It's weird you stuck. You can't move with any of your parts?
Super hard game lol, I'm really struggling to go past a vertical part in the crystal zone, somehow I must not 100% understand the tricks to move the snake. Anyway, for the rest, the game looks great, nice art ! Moving the snake around is quite cool too, and nice SFX. Your take on the theme is one of the best I had until now I think ! Good job :)
Wow, this is getting-over-it-hard! :)
The physics seem pretty solid here! Can the snake go backwards? I tried, but failed, it seems like the head parts have a stronger pull force?
This is a very creative idea, I don't remember playing anything remotely resembling this game , so kudos!
@ace17 it can, but you probably need to pull with multiple segments at once. The head is indeed the strongest and the tail is the weakest.
@yogurtthehorse actually i was able to. I got stuck by jumping from right stairs and this branch went between the joints. I tried to get out, but it didn't wanted to move apart
00863 Yellowgreen screen 04-10-2023 08-18-34.png Too bad the previous records are being deleted
art is like rainworld so amazing, controls very intuitive yet somehow difficult? but the difficulty makes sense. anyways great gmae!
This game is pretty cool.
I was a slow learner and it took me ~14 minutes to complete the game. Visually, this game is fantastic. It takes a while to understand how to navigate efficiently.
The tutorial gives you the basics, but it was hard for me to completely understand the "getting tired" mechanic. I get why it exists, but sometimes I can't predict whether something will get tired or not; I can only see when it's already tired.
The levels lack some navigation hints. Sometimes it looks like the world has several paths, but you as a player has no idea where to go. I like that some of the places required advanced worko-parkour, but these places were quite rare.
I missed (misread?) the intro images (I thought they were buttons), so I missed the plot. I didn't know that we were a small work-like thing that fell down. This is why it wasn't clear to me that we're trying to get back to the surface.
Am I right that our little wormy dies in the end? :'( Is there a better ending?
This game felt quite peaceful. I like the fact that there were no enemies.
I haven't found any bugs or issues during the playthrough, good job on that front.
Overall, the game feels quite polished.
@quasilyte thanks for the feedback! We probably could've done better job by indicating that segment is about to get tired, I see why you find it vague.
Initially I planned to put some collectables into all the dead-ends, but time kinda got out of hand, so they feel like empty dead ends :(
The worm is eaten and the cycle of life continues...
Oh no, my poor wormo. :'( R.I.P. my friend.
Such a good game. Challenging just enough to keep you going but not so challenging that it's frustrating and you want to quit. Very unique concept. Great job!
Very original idea. Definetly 5 stars for Theme (I felt claustrophobic sometimes). I like the audio and graphics and the overall mood.
T'was hard. Very good but wery hard! 5/5 for the theme! I would have liked to hear some background music, though.
This is a cool game! Reminds me of Edmund McMillen's Triachnid, which is good. Really like your artstyle. Sad final is sad :(
literally the game I've rated the highest so far in the jam, this is amazing. Genuinely so impressed that this was pulled off in 3 DAYS!!! It was just the right level of difficulty to where it was challenging yet not impossible, the art was also really charming. It gives me "getting over it" vibes
Very fun idea and very well executed, it reminds me rain world. I liked the dynamic music depending on the area we are in. I loved the game, really incredible. But the end tho 💀
Such a great game! The graphics are great, and the gameplay is simple and clean, but I just wish there were a few variations on the click sound effect, as it got a bit repetitve, but thats a small nitpick. Amazing entry!
@roboimuri what do you mean? D: There's music in the game!
Super hard game lol, I’m really struggling to go past a vertical part in the crystal zone, somehow I must not 100% understand the tricks to move the snake. Anyway, for the rest, the game looks great, nice art ! Moving the snake around is quite cool too, and nice SFX. Your take on the theme is one of the best I had until now I think !
Good job :)
Fun game, I absolutely love the art and overall presentation. I got to the end in just under 12 minutes. I also got stuck on the tree like vafer did, though I managed to break out of it by moving further into the tree and building some momentum on the way back.
Really fun actually, I played it twice and I got about 5.5 minutes or so. It's frustrating at first but I ended up enjoying it. The movement mechanic is unique and makes up practically all of the gameplay. I could see this ending up on steam. The art is professional and yes, I noticed the pixel perfect camera movement! The online leaderboard really tops it all off, it's beginning to look like another "Getting Over It" game, just different. Great job for sure!
Update: Got 4 minutes..

Fantastic game
the art and sound is great! gameplay took a minute but I ended up loving it!
Superr addicting game! I love how it looks when the snake gets all crumpled up into a small corner LOL The art style is so amazing, especially the environment art! Great job!
I really, really enjoyed the art of the game - along with the struggles of wiggling upwards and unfurling our slithering main character as we try to make it up. The pixel art style is really nice, and in particular, I loved the opening cutscenes that told us the story in just three well-drawn and well-animated panels. Well done!
At first, controlling the snake can be quite challenging, but once you get the hang of it, it's a blast tackling the challenges. The artwork is absolutely stunning, and the music complements the mood perfectly.
Great game! quite challenging to actually manage to control the snake, i got stuck often but had a lot of fun anyway! Graphics are very cute!
Fun and challenging! With some practice you can probably build up momentum and skip large portions, which is how I assume the sub 3 min times were done, but couldn't quite get a grasp on controls enough.
Finally managed to beat this goosya guy, now I can rest in peace.
goos.png
Good game! Definitely one of the best! Super fun and polished. I enjoyed every bit of it! I have nothing more to add, people already described and mentioned everything awesome about this game. You guys did an excellent job! I will come back when the goose steal the record once again.
@aerial haha, Good you liked it!
Hey @guzman seems like you have leaderboard to burn
Super polished, and the graphic is what I love the most in this game!
How do you come up with this? This is a masterpiece, so polished and so original! The core mechanic seemed a bit counter-intuitive at first, and I spent some extra time figuring out the idea of parts getting tired, but once it clicked, it became really fun to play. I appreciate the comics-like cutscenes (the ending kinda broke my heart, but the snek is so cute!) and the attention to details is a whole new level! The background animation, different biomes, moving grass - in terms of polish, you're in the league of your own! The music felt a bit repetitive until I stopped noticing it, but it's just a nitpick. Hands down, one of the most solid entries! Bravo!
My place is on the bottom of the scoreboard, but I have a playthrough for you! :)
https://youtu.be/SIkgmA5ajOk
Excellent art, and I loved how crunchy / juicy you made the game! The little animations at the beginning were wonderful, and the epic screen shake when we first fall down was awesome.
I love this game. The gameplay is very unique and graphics are beautiful. Really well done.
I have to say.this game is soullike,,,very nice game art and physics mechanism,I feel the shake head is heavyer than the thail, drag head to move is easyer,,love this game ,good job
Cute snek, 10/10.
Solid core concept done justice. Nothing feels out of place or as if it doesn't belong. Music is nice and doesn't get too repetitive, controls make sense, graphics are nice and work in service of the core gameplay. Wigglign is immersive, I really felt like a snek. I like it a lot!
@yngvarr thanks a lot for the let's play :) It's always cool to see the actual playthrough.
hard game, I didn't quite understand how to control properly and avoid falling
@aerial we just wanna know how
Amazing job! Very addictive gameplay with gorgeous graphics and audio.
@yogurtthehorse wait, I thought you guys already knew about the aerial dash/sling thingy? That is why there is an opening up there in the start area from where you keep dashing all the way around to the nest.
@yogurtthehorse Ok here is a video showing how it is done:
https://streamable.com/t8mnz3
basically, when you have the two parts (the head and the next one) vertically aligned, you can keep pulling the other part upwards (better while it is fully greyed?) and that will somehow add lots of momentum to the head.
And yeah I almost had a new record (37 seconds) in that video but I flew past the nest lol. The hard part is landing at the nest after passing that peak and because of the solid color background, you can't accurately judge how fast you are flying.
Very interesting indeed. Looks and sounds great. Very original. Kinda satisfying.
@aerial we thought we fixed the flying D:
But it seems like while still doable it now requires some skill!
Really love the awkward controlls, it really feels like im a worm! Also love the environment art. I always love games that innovate traversal! Reminds me a lot of Snakebird and Snake pass! The visuals remind me of Rain World. Well done!
Man, that was fantastic! I really loved the learning curve that came with finding how to control the snake. The way I could see myself getting better and better the longer I played *really* makes me wanna come back here for a high score. The snake reminded me of the slugcat from Rain World, and the controller reminded me of Snake Pass to an extent. Really loved the openning cutscene, I'll be looking to come back here when I get a chance!
Great job, all of you! Only problem I found was how easy it was to get stuck and tangled in your own body -- there were one or two places where I could barely squeeze myself out of a corner because my second segment was blocking the way. I look forward to see what you get out next time! Cheers! :beers:
I... did it. 14 minutes and 3 seconds, or so. I went through a lot of emotions in those 14 minutes, and I had a lot of time to think. I suffered, I was confused, I ... had... fun...? I was a worm, I was struggle manifest, I was QWOP without joints, yet I was only joints. I crawled, I flew, I went tail-first and head-down and back around, and all wiggly and squeezy. Then I crawled some more, and in the end, I flew.
An experience that will stay with me.
A unique, mind-twisting entry that does very well whatever it is it set out to do. Unlike any other, congrats.
@ditam (*writes down nervously*) yeah, just as intended, yeah, th-thanks for participation...
Wow what a great game! I loved the rainworld inspiration and the movement was so interesting. Only issue I had was crumbling myself into a ball when I tried moving the back end of the worm. But art and pixelated visuals was fantastically done. The ending was SO funny and unexpected. Nice little treat for the end. Great game!
That was great. Took a while to figure out how the control actually worked, and even then sometimes it just wouldn't cooperate. I was certainly getting the hang of it towards the end though. The pause was definitely essential. Some of those high scores don't seem possible, unless I anded up taking a really long route.
Чую, будете в топ 10. Молодцы!
Hey, I’m the host of the Ludum Dare score chasers tournament for this jam
Wanted to ask for score chasers if you were fine with me playing some gameplay of your game in the background in the waiting period. In the waiting period while a music track is playing itll cycle through gameplay from a bunch of different games in the background
Hey @ategon, of course we don't mind :)
(The question wasn't addressed to us, and I missed that, but we still don't mind! :D)
image.png
Sub-40 :D Something seems up with YuryScript's time- it showed them as second even when I had a 40.xx PB.
It looks really messed up, how did you manage that guys =___=
@erlioniel what do you mean?
Why do I keep playing it?
Capture.PNG
Despite the fact that controls is a bit tricky I like the idea. Also I can notice the leaderboard feature. Nice job!
Very good pixel art graphics and ambient music. Super innovative mechanics, but extremely difficult gameplay. Although some reached the end, I really tried really hard, but there was a part that was insanely difficult, I ended up giving up. But it's very different and innovative, but I suffered here lol.
I really enjoy the graphic, and the concept fit totally the theme. The execution is very nice. The only thing is... I don't have the patience to move this snake... the movement is just...insane! But I guess I'm not the player for this kind of game. Anyway, I'm impressed by the execution. Congrat to the whole team!
Amazing entry, perfect theme fit as well. Sorry I am late :D
