wodensfang 2024-10-08 00:00

The title alone sent me into a fit of laughter, thanks for that, and hey! you got something done! I've certainly seen worse showings at these

crushedsummers 2024-10-08 00:14

I love the sprite animation

rsheepdv 2024-10-08 00:22

God tier, GOTY XD. Ok but genuinely though I'd love to see a polished version of this, a mouse blasting everything with a machine gun sounds hilarious.

julesleech 2024-10-08 00:53

That's a creative title hahahahah!! So funny

lightningst 2024-10-08 01:17

Very simple, but what you had felt great to play!

tompendergrass 2024-10-08 01:53

Props for still posting it after admitting defeat. I got a kick out of your apology letter at the end. I hope you still had fun and learned a thing or two!

sharky3188 2024-10-08 04:23

The text at the end gave me a chuckle. Not sure why you chose that control scheme? Very different, i would suggest going with more of an industry standard in the future (eg space jump) as it can make it feel a bit more frustrating than it needs to be. I wish you luck on the next one!

the-quinnzite-mushroom 2024-10-08 04:39

Having space or w or up to jump would have been more intuitive, and click to shoot. Anyway the title reminds me of the book "If you of the give a mouse a cookie" and I think you should totally give it a bigger machine gun more opponents and an end goal it would turn into a pretty fun game.

iaroslavik 2024-10-08 05:53

So funny, I like it ☺️

enderswype 2024-10-08 07:23

oh well, happens to all of us, sometimes tis gud sometimes tis shit x) There's some potential, controls are nice, maybe finish it and publish anyway later :)

blue-wren 2024-10-08 09:11

I never new I needed a mouse with machine gun in my life till now. I love the sprite animation - its funny and cute.

inre-dan 2024-10-08 12:16

Goofy as hell - nice.

lachlan-james 2024-10-08 12:17

Hahaa! I loved this. I saw a comment about the apology letter 'at the end' and was curious how much I got to play through before getting there. Was not disappointed.

davidsheadgames 2024-10-08 14:49

Props to the idea and game name. I just wish I could rate it. I love the little text tongue-in-cheek cop-out ending

Thanks for a short, fun time :)

nick-halstead 2024-10-08 17:05

No need for the apologies! This was a great concept with artistic potential :) Love love love the name/idea, the walking was so derpy (I loved), and the graphics felt genuine.

I would personally change firing/jumping to clicking and spacebar, but the controls were easy to get used to.

deantwotwo 2024-10-08 17:09

Short and sweet! Has potential, movement feels nice :)

wouter52 2024-10-08 18:16

The controls were actually challenging. That made it a fun challenge. Don't take my following question the wrong way, I'm just curious as I know what games you normally submit:

What happened? Seeing the basic outline, I don't really see where the challenge in development could be. Was there some grand plan that sucked up all of your time? Or just life happening?

atlasflame 2024-10-08 21:14

He runs just like me fr fr.

ricksquanchez 2024-10-08 22:17

i like the sound fx!

cam-moore 2024-10-08 22:59

XD The apology at the end was worth it haha

katelyn-trout 2024-10-08 23:28

i loved it

kevinary101 2024-10-08 23:52

I would like to see what you could have done with the game! Its a fun idea

radjax 2024-10-09 03:13

The mouse sprite was great and the shotgun firing was saitsfying. You've got good bones to the game, and you could do some really fun stuff with it, nothing to apologize for, congrats on getting a game out there!

kobato-games 2024-10-10 00:27

Funny game. I like the mouse's design and scurrying legs XD. I think it would have looked better to reuse the mouse's idle animation for jumping as opposed to the running one, but having it's crazy legs running in the air probably best fit the spirit of this game.

mavvy 2024-10-10 02:10

Saw the title, *had* to take a bite.

Well, as it turns out, if you give a mouse a machine gun, they will murder everything that stands in their way. Yo, I found this to be a goofy good time? Like as a starting point, you have solid gold in my opinion. A side-scrolling shooter loosely based off of if you give a mouse a cookie in a framework of violence is open to some wild and hilarious stuff.

pete-valeo 2024-10-10 05:36

Simple and straightforward! Love the premise and title - pretty self explanatory 😆 Definitely a work in progress, but what was there was solid for what it was. Making games is hard in general, let alone in a single weekend - but I think this was a strong showing! Graphics were admittedly not AAA-quality, but they did the job they needed to do. Same with the audio, but I will say - it's easy for such a simple set of sounds to feel so repetitive they're annoying, but this never grated on me, which it easily could have. Nice work!

Thank you all for your kind words. Really, you're too generous. I'll be sure to check out everyone elses's games later.

@wouter52 My other games were made in Unity, which I was pretty proficient in. My last few attempts have been with Godot (this being the first that I "finished") and being a Daddy now means I don't have as much time in-between jams to learn and practice.

I'm hoping to remake all my old games within the next few months so that for LD57 I'll hit the ground running instead of learning as I go.
