What a fun mechanic. I really liked it!
Great game!
Interesting concept, and the game felt nice to play
This is awesome! It feels to polished and the graphics and effects are just so well made. Also the little background stories of the characters on the left and the VN parts were funny and a nice change of pace from the gameplay. I should have made some VN segments in jam games too now that I think of it :D
Very original idea! It was fun to play. I like the audio, graphics and humor.
Felt original to me, fun script, nice graphics. Would play again, awesome overall
Nice idea and a fun mechanic. Graphics were a bit mix matched but I had a good time.
Very unique, had fun playing!
It feels like memory with super pressure. love it :D
I had no idea what was going on, but it was amazing.
Love the oldschool graphic style and courage to put together all the different styles together, it really fits togetger well! The game mechanics are understandable and fun to play. Great contribution and definitely original.
Very interesting and unique little game! I think it was a bit difficult to plan things in advance, having to default to reaping random souls and hoping I hit the ones I need. But there was a lot of nice visual flair to it all that made playing the game an amazing experience
I loved the soundtrack! For the music references, I only managed to catch the Queen bassline. I tried to listen out for Don't Fear The Reaper but I couldn't pull it out. Any hints on where you hid it?
Really fun stuff! Visuals were weirdly charming, music was a banger and gameplay was solid. Also libgdx :sunglasses:
Love the little golfer guy lmao
@niterich Glad you enjoyed! The music was fun - pretty much every melody/progression is repurposed/alluding to a different song about heaven/hell/reaping. Opening piano is playing the guitar part from Don't Fear The Reaper, with a chiptune synth playing the main guitar melody lines from the opening of Stairway to Heaven, both over the Another One Bites The Dust bassline. Second section is the chords for AC/DC Highway to Hell, with the melody for Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton, and the second half melody is from Heaven by Talking Heads. The breakdown/build starts with the death music from the original Legend of Zelda, and then builds up on the opening riff from Heaven On Their Minds from Jesus Christ Superstar, and then the second half of the second half, the melody from Dies Irae (which is kind of like a widely known allusion in music that's suggesting death/someone dying in the plot).
Really nice!!! I loved the gameplay loop, the pacing of the game was just right, the game kept me hooked right until the end, there's nothing I can complain about. Well done!
I dig the 90's indiegame feel with intentionally clashing visual aesthetics. I love the puns built into the writing! I love the music, sounds and overall atmosphere!
Honestly, great entry! High Marks!
Interesting mechanic! The tutorial is too reliant on text, but even with quickly scanning through it I understood what to do.
I get what you were aiming for with graphics, but imho it's too obscure and mismatched. Only played it because my teammate compelled me to
Otherwise great entry!
I enjoyed the style, gritty nostalgic textures, and the humor of this game. It felt like a board game. Had good pacing. Music and sound matched the atmosphere. Good melody on the song(s). SFX a few nostalgic jabs, which I get humor wise.
I was getting so invested in this game especially after the Musk was introduced that I hardly noticed the golfer in the bottom left corner of the screen. I don't know what it was about that, but it brought a lot of joy. This game felt good. I don't know what type of Musk Magic Powder you all put into your games, but it was good.
Really interesting take on the theme and game loop. I liked it when it got going. I think if I had to pick up one thing is that it feels a bit messy visually. A lot of work went in but some of the pre amble just felt a bit rushed and not worth it. Once the game loop got going it was really cool. Good work
