This is just the best thing

2018-04-23 02:31

Great job!

This game has an incredible amount of polish for a game jam submission. It really gives me some "Undertale" vibes with the sound and projectile-like movement of the keys. But my goodness, this game is hard. I get about 3 words in and then it's just impossible to hit the right keys! I'd love to see a difficulty setting, or a smoother difficulty ramp as you play through the game. Really fantastic presentation, I've rated this highly!

benbusby 2018-04-23 03:31

This is so awesome...I have a feeling that Zlornko is really just Steve Brule in disguise though, those words are straight out of Check It Out! haha. Really liked the music too. Usually by word 4 or 5 though it seems like it's impossibly hard.

katie 2018-04-23 03:35

@benbusby The difficulty curve def needed a little more attention than I gave it :P And I'm glad someone picked up on the Brule-y-ness! It wasn't intentional at first, but after a while I noticed it and added a few words from the show.

This looked like a lot of fun to play. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work for Linux :( I got:

This game was made for a different version of LÖVE. It may not be not be compatible with the running version (0.9.1). Error: main.lua:194: attempt to call method 'setQuads' (a nil value) stack traceback: main.lua:194: in function 'load' [string "boot.lua"]:406: in function <[string "boot.lua"]:399> [C]: in function 'xpcall'

@merrak What distro? See if there's a user-submitted 0.11.0 LOVE package. It's in the [Ubuntu PPA](https://launchpad.net/~bartbes/+archive/ubuntu/love-stable) and it's available as an [AppImage](https://bitbucket.org/rude/love/downloads/love-11.1-linux-x86_64.AppImage). If nothing else, there's also a [generic tarball](https://bitbucket.org/rude/love/downloads/love-11.0-linux-x86_64.tar.gz).

Took me a bit to realize I had to click on the keys instead of typing. Once I did I had a blast. Very cool and creative game. Great work!

abraxas-interactive 2018-04-23 04:17

Lol, this is great. At first I was trying to actually type like an idiot - super fun, lots of personality, great job.

timeload 2018-04-23 04:24

love the game!! Even though I wasn't able to get more than a couple hundred points I still had fun :)

@merrak I'm currently running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and playing the Windows version using the current version of wine, try running it through wine if you want to play

serious07 2018-04-23 04:30

Cool game, I'm like how you combine the game teams :D

merrak 2018-04-23 04:44

@TimeLoad @katie I'm running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. I tried the quick fix--running the Windows version with Wine and that worked well.

Now that I got it working, this is great. It definitely escalates in difficulty quickly. I tried playing it with my Wacom tablet and that significantly changed the game. It'd be interesting to try it with a touch screen, but that seems like it would be too far on the cheating side of the line.

Very clever idea. I like all personality touches.

vilix64 2018-04-23 06:43

Too much flashing, but you put an amount of work into this. Solid game.

caeonosphere 2018-04-23 07:10

By some miracle, I got 476 points. Great idea!

spthiel 2018-04-23 07:40

As somebody said before reminds me of undertale pretty fun nevertheless.. and challenging

petro-shoferystov 2018-04-23 08:43

Yeah dude! I don't even need the drugs anymore :) It's just more than enough to play this game and get high

adam-wallberg 2018-04-23 12:03

This one got my heart rate up. Great game!

themadpangolin 2018-04-23 16:20

Pretty tough, and very flashy! Typing games are interesting, but I've never seen one like this before. Great game!

xcvzxc 2018-04-23 17:35

This game is so hard! Moving letters look so hypnotizing haha Great game :)

mathiouza 2018-04-23 18:35

A way too hard !! But really beautiful game :))

kultisti 2018-04-23 18:49

Wha kind of drug is this? I got addicted immediately! The GFXs are really cool and the music is just ASMR :D Can't wait for more

ehtd 2018-04-23 23:28

woah that was hard to play, good idea tho

saoi-games 2018-04-24 08:19

I’m not sure if you were able to see it, but I played your game on my stream at https://www.twitch.tv/saoigames tonight.

Did you have to embrace the incompatible part of the theme so well? I didn't know whether to laugh or scream when the keyboard started moving around.

It was hard to realize at first that you didn't type the word, but instead clicked on them.

I think the game would have been better if you focused on real words, maybe even easy words, so the player could find challenge in finding the words as the keys moved around.

The vocabulary was very limiting, and when you got a very long nonsense word it was just painful. Keep the words around 5 - 7 in length to make it balanced and fair, especially if you plan to randomly present words to the player.

katie 2018-04-24 21:17

@saoi-games Noted! Thanks for the thorough feedback <3

bloodyaugust 2018-04-26 04:40

This was amazingly fun and funny. Well done.

EDIT: I and my gf played this on stream, if you'd like to check it out, you're the first up! [Twitch Video](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/254590165)

This is ridiculously challenging and ridiculously well made at the same time, I love it! At first I thought I had to type on the real keyboard until I realized what it's about, then I feared it would be one of these annoying point-and-click-as-fast-as-possible things, and then all my worst nightmares seemed to come true, in the best way imaginable. I enjoyed this thoroughly, the visual appearance and awesome music make it surprisingly fun to play. I thought the random (?) selection of keyboard-going-wildness makes the score quite unrepresentative of the player's skills, since there are clearly ones where it's physically impossible to type. But I don't think that takes away from the general experience. Very nice, thanks for making this!

My highscore after 5 tries was 633.

igor-kingamer 2018-05-03 19:45

Although gameplay-wise it's a bit frustrating, it's very funny and very polished. :)

In the era of technology and the Internet, many students prefer to receive education at home online. It is ok. But what if you have started to study poorly? You will no longer be able to turn to your teacher for help. Explore this blog https://edureviewer.com/blog/why-online-tutoring-is-more-effective-than-in-person-tutoring/ and you will realize that you have a good opportunity to use the help of an online tutor. This one is cheaper than an offline tutor.
