very nice, cool graphics and concept. the UI is very clear, the controls are not very smooth though, jumping on the small plateforms is really frustrating. the randomized dangers are great but can kill you way too fast. keep up the good work !
Loved the graphics and sound design. This was a great take on the theme!! Just like the previous comment I also struggled a lot with the small platforms. Great game though.

Hi peoples. While i usually don't make any hotfixes during the rating period, i ended up fixing the terrible mid-air controls for this game (which is pretty important to get right for a platformer). Pretty much every person that has played the game so far has commented about it, and i agree that it wasn't great.
It didn't sit right with me for that to be the big detractor of the final product, hence the hotfix.

I like the level design of this game, however it is a bit frustrating to not known the next effect until it happen especially the inverse gravity.
Pretty cool, Pretty hard, but with multiples tries I can progress !! :) it's pretty neat, specially for a Pico-8 game. GG

I liked the aesthetic of the game, and the (fixed) controls felt good - adding coyote time could probably make the small-platform jumps easier.
The randomness was a good use of the theme, and added hectic chaos, but also easy orb pickup sometimes (spawning in the same place twice in a row)
I also liked how the level-design had good "hiding-spots" for many of the various obstacles, although sometimes the random elements put them out of reach. A suggestion could be to add an icon for the next obstacle, e.g. in the center of the clock, so the player can "prepare".
Well tuned game feel and fitting graphics and sound! It was a bit on the hard side though and not too much time to run around to explore but still enjoyed it. Bonus points for good UI design!

Oh shi... This game is crazy, I really liked the gameplay, it's so energetic. And, as usual with PICO, graphics are very nice and retro.

I calmly jumped around a pleasant platformer. I avoided the dangerous lava. I screamed while I tried to avoid the torrent of grenades, and then I was trampled by a horde of cows. I absolutely love this entry, the graphics, style, gameplay and audio were all excellent. I loved how chaotic this gets, though I did have some trouble with the platforming due to the camera shaking, I feel that it absolutely added to the pandemonium. I could play this for hours.
Good use of the theme in this fun game. Well done!

Really cool game! I loved the idea of the different dangers coming at you and having to adapt to them. The main thing I would have wanted was a way to know what danger was coming next. The first time it was antigravity so I fell into the sky. I restarted and hid under a rock incase it was antigravity, but it was lava that came from the ground so I died from that. haha If I knew lava was coming I could stand on top of something instead, etc. Either way though really cool take on the theme and platforming! nice job!!

Nice job, fellow pioc8er. This is a very polished platformer - everything feels right and the physics of things like grenades and cows works well.
I agree with some others that the hazards are a little imbalanced - antigravity is basically an instant death if you're not hiding, so you need to be fairly conservative.
I read your post - I don't think you missed the mark at all! It's a pretty solid entry, probably the most polished platformer I played here. I think it takes years of practice to get good at this LDJAM thing, as well as a ton of time and sweat. I'm certainly not there.
I think graphics and game feel wise this is super solid and you definitely nailed how to implement good game feel in Pico 8. The UI feels especially slick for a Pico 8 game. I agree that deaths can feel pretty sudden and unfair but knowing the upcoming event would have gone a long way. Oversights like that happen a lot in compo and doesn’t detract too much from the core experience. And if you ever want to take the game further you’ll already know what works and what doesn’t.
The 10 second events are awesome! Love those cows :laughing: This looks so good - I am a huge fan of retro pixel art. The explosions look great, and good job on the details like the death animation. SFX is great too. My only suggestion is to use spacebar for jump! This may be a personal preference, but I'm just not a fan of "up" to jump. I tend to be really clumsy when using up. I'm also left handed so the arrow controls are often difficult for me :sweat_smile: Again, personal preference, but I like WASD. Just some thoughts! Super great entry though, I really found your entire presentation and concept to be endearing. Great job and keep it up!

As it says on the tin, the game's world is very hostile. The cows suddenly appearing got a laugh out of me, the game has an interesting sense of humor. Nice visual fidelity and sound design, I'm a real sucker for Pico-8 games and this did not disappoint! :thumbsup:
Oof, that's hard! You can get pretty lucky with the spawns, got up to 7 that way, but eventually my luck ran out. I fear double digits will be forever beyond my reach...

Absolutely brutal.
I would've loved a warning on what the next obstacle would be, antigravity becomes an insta-death if you didn't happen to be under shelter for instance. I have to admit the first time I died to a cow got a chuckle out of me.
Graphics and sound were really well done :)

Ooh this is such a fun game! I love the cute little graphics! And the random generating orbs force you to traverse the level and get exposed to all the hazards that can happen. Very clever level design also. When the grenates fall, you are safe underneath the big platforms, but when the lava comes, you can better run to a high place. Very well done. I had fun playing yours
