Ship in a Bubble by Moebius 2023-10-04T17:57:51Z

I hear you dear commenters. Maybe I should do a post ldjam version that changes the mechanics to a more direct approach.

> Shooting sound hurts my head

That's intentional - I call it immersive gaming

@bigstrongddoge here is what I would potentially add/change in a post-jam version: * change the way the ship is controlled, so that it's possible to dodge bullets more easily * add more ship modules and more projectile types, which would allow for a broader variety of enemy ships as well as more tactical possibilities * maybe add some kind of button activated short term shielding that needs time or specific items to recharge * put more time into balancing * add a way to control the volume, and/or make the sounds a little better * add online leader board for highscores

Thanks for your feedback @tomssuli. Never encountered the bug you described before, but I'll add it to the list for the post-jam version. Also the idea of having health per module was also something I considered but dismissed because of time constraints. But I will also look into it for the post-jam version.

@ramonvicious wow you're right, your entry looks quite similar (though yours looks a lot more polished). I did not really take part in LD49, so I didn't see it before but I guess the idea of a modular ship is not too uncommon . Anyways thanks for playing & rating my game!

Limited in Space by MattHartley 2023-10-03T09:30:47Z

Really nice fresh take on Asteroids! Loved the idea of the different asteroid types that either helped you or helped getting you killed. Only down side that I was able to find is that you re-spawn in the same level if you die (don't get me wrong at first I was happy about that). I think you took that decision because of possible player frustration, but Asteroids is an arcade game and part of its appeal is that you have to do it all over again if you die.

Even though I had a machine learning lecture back in university, it is already a while back that I had to actually work with neural networks. Still after some tinkering around I think it's a really nice editor that you designed there. Also I like that I can play around with it and immediately see if it works or not. With bigger networks usually you have to use a super computer and that's pricey, so this is really nice for learning how to get a network to converge.

If it's really a game? I don't know. But did I have fun playing around with it? Definitely. So, well done! Especially considering you only had two days for that.

Brilliant game concept! Form the short term game loop of those really nice rigid doll physics based mini games to the long term game loop of selling as many products as possible before you run out of space. I also like the sarcastic undertone of it all  Really well done! One of the best entries for sure (even though it might be a little bit of cheating to reuse what you already built for your commercial game - but nice marketing stunt nevertheless!).

Also: extra points for building the game in a way so that it does not break on my extra-wide screen!

Interesting game with a deeper message. Well done!

Sampler by caeonosphere 2023-10-07T14:08:42Z

Cool entry. Reminds me a little bit of "The Cube". The puzzles are not too complicated but the fact that an (apparently) alien being, or rather just two eyes in the dark are watching you and giving you instructions in an alien language makes the game really stand out!

A.I. Move by Petter 2023-10-03T21:57:48Z

The knapsack problem as a game - interesting idea. But the first level was already way too big for me so I already lost interest after some time and instead threw around vases (which was fun tbh). I'd suggest to make the first level smaller to get the player better into the game. But all in all it the game definitely fits the theme

Super Low Memory Bot by LaserPanzerWal 2023-10-21T11:07:38Z

Wow, nice game. Was already sold when I saw the Gameboy style LDJam54 intro! Really awesome puzzle game that feels really balanced. Level progression is also done quite nicely. And music & sound effects fit the old school Gameboy style perfectly. Kudos!

Only thing missing is the rom version that I can play on the actual device

Running Low, In Space by Enad96 2023-10-07T12:58:24Z

Nice game, but as some other commenters already mentioned controlling the ship was really hard. Also it took me a while before I was even able to get it to fly. But I like the sound effects and the music. All in all a solid entry

Corporate Courier Deluxe by JuanRod707 2023-10-07T13:52:53Z

Really cool game. At first I thought it would get boring after some time to simply get the packages delivered without drowning in them but then the packages with the extra message appeared. Really nice work!

Cathtulhu:Paws Vs. Paws by Yucong 2023-10-04T17:54:16Z

The art style is really nice and so is the idea. But unfortunately the most I was able to do in this game is put some feeding bowls on the floor (**drag & drop the Tetris looking thing to the central game area**, in case you were wondering) and get poor Cathtulhu killed by clicking on their avatar multiple times. Maybe I'm not a worthy assistant for Cathtulhu :scream_cat: ...

Project Minima by BlueDandelion 2023-10-08T11:43:21Z

Nice platformer with cute pixel art and infinite respawns. I also wasn't really able to beat that ^ very level. But the game was quite fun nevertheless! Great entry!

Project Minima by BlueDandelion 2023-10-09T08:13:41Z

@bluedandelion: first I wanted to say the problem why I was not able to finish that level was my dexterity - but now that I checked out the screenshot again, I think the problem is that the buzz saw next to the exit was too high when I played it. There was no way to jump over it but it also never dived deep enough into the wall so that I could simply run over it. Maybe it's a problem that's caused by Unity not working with pixels in 2D?

Project Minima by BlueDandelion 2023-10-09T09:03:53Z

Thanks @bluedandelion, I will gladly give it another shot later .

And for the Unity & 2D thingy, it's just that Unity afaik uses 3D with orthogonal projection for their 2D, and that could potentially lead to rounding problems when projecting from 3D to 2D. But you're right, it should not have such a big effect. I'm just glad that you were able to fix the problem

Galactic Taxi Limited by Archaeognathus 2023-10-03T12:33:46Z

Okay, a little confusing. At first I thought I needed to go to one of the planets with a red line to pick up a passenger. But it turns out that I can simply click on their faces in the ui to pick them up as the ones showing up there ARE the aliens on THIS planet and the red line shows where they potentially wanna go.

Once I got that figured out it got really interesting and I was having a lot of fun optimizing the ways to get them all to their location without running out of fuel. Well done!

KAAMOS by PabloAbraham 2023-10-03T22:10:30Z

Really nice game. Especially the atmosphere is fantastic! The only problem I had was with firing, for some reason pressing "F" when getting attacked didn't do anything.

Prison escape by Game addict 2023-10-21T10:43:50Z

Interesting little text adventure. I'd suggest to automatically set the focus to the textbox at the bottom of the screen when the game starts, so that people understand that they need to type. And yes, some form of music or even sound effects would help to bring the mood across.

Dwarf Life by arvis 2023-10-08T11:28:20Z

Very impressive considering you're only into gamedev for two weeks! As other have mentioned already I think the game needs some polish but all in all a solid entry. Also the art style is already quite consistent, which is, in my experience, something that takes most people quite some time to get right, when they start with gamedev.

Illusion by Vikatoria 2023-10-06T20:54:27Z

Nice idea with the story line, but it was a little confusing because it's not really clear which of the things are actual platforms and which are not. So you find yourself hopping from one thing to another that might or might not hold the hamster, only to be told that you can't keep the funny hamster alive - I'm trying, but you're not really making it easy for me

But: the hamster looks really cute! Nice pixel art!

Fun little game and good implementation of the theme. I especially love the pixel art graphics! Nice job!
