I enjoyed playing it and got to the end I was glad that there's a win state rather than an endless game because I was worried that poor Rachel would have a mental breakdown no matter what

I filled up the whole head;) Bullet update is kinda OP, used it a lot. Overall i love the music and a gameplay, well done!

salaro 2023-10-03 04:50

Really fun game, although it makes me wonder what part of my personality is a bullet upgrade?

joymagine 2023-10-03 05:29

game was really cool, one thing is when i dragged some pieces for upgrades it was a little innacurate to where i was dragging it or something... i tried to put reload into the L of damage and its a little finicky

dunno what else to improve about it, it seems pretty cool

oh also i expected the upgrades to block my movement.. or maybe they could have some effect when you are standing on them, like damage gives even more damage when you are standing on it?? idk

pierre-marie 2023-10-03 10:49

Only reload speed damage, I think it will make me a good personality! The lore and gameplay are great, well done!

dioinecail 2023-10-03 10:57

@joymagine we thought about making the upgrades board bigger and make certain blocks have effect when you combine them with other blocks for example if you have L shape right next to Square shape it give you +5% attack speed or something like that but everything was ultimately a scope creep for us

also first Godot engine jam so it took some time to figure out stuff

iron-head 2023-10-03 21:03

Damn, too real... But actually, very cool. Su much stuff to keep track of. My brain was fully engaged in the gameplay. Nice job.

pinkemma 2023-10-04 12:15

The shooting felt really good! The little screen shake and the bullets.

apophatique 2023-10-04 19:25

The metaphor works well and the game is very pleasant to play, bravo :D

tetrergeru 2023-10-04 19:39

Nice game!

Somehow it glitched and could not fit my monitor at all, so I couldnt't see both enemies and ammo at the same time without scrolling back and forth :)

But shooting feels solid and upgrade system feels nice

alanushke 2023-10-04 21:36

i wish there was an endless mode, game is super fun, has a more serious theme to it (besides the jam theme), gameplay feels nice, controls are tight, music is fun to listen to, visual feedback is really great, awesome work!

moebius 2023-10-05 13:04

Interesting game with a deeper message. Well done!

brainles-etertainment 2023-10-05 13:09

What a music! Such a catchy tune, really liked it!

stealthorc 2023-10-05 21:40

Wow the games really nice! I like the theme you went for! Ive played one session with full damage and reload. It was really easy and a no brainer. going for hp with only ammo felt too harsh. I feel the HP nodes take too much space and maybe the other might take another revision, but other than that the arrangement went flawless and was really forgiving for letting me change around and stuff, a bit of polish which I like!

Good job!

catulus-zesmar 2023-10-05 23:57

Played till I beat it and really enjoyed playing it! Really liked the art and theme.

pipima 2023-10-05 23:59

The theme is really fun and I appreciate the diverse range of attacks available. I love how both the shoot'em up gameplay and the leveling-up stage tie into the concept of 'limited space.' I'm looking forward to receiving a final score at the end as it would be quite rewarding for me. However, I did encounter a bug with the HP bar. After leveling up my HP (e.g. to 11), it consistently reverted to a maximum of 7 whenever I got hit. Despite this issue, I must say, great job overall!

kilthorne 2023-10-06 03:49

My wife's name is Rachel

dioinecail 2023-10-06 07:00

@pipima whoops :) it's only a visual bug though, you get ``base_max_hp`` + ``upgraded_hp`` at the start of the level, but after you get hit the health component sends out an event with ``current_hp`` / ``base_max_hp``

I'd love to turn it into an infinite mode or something, where you have to mix and match different upgrades to progress and each upgrade block has a synergy with other blocks but it was too big of a scope for the jam as i'm not very experienced with Godot at the moment. Infinite mode would allow to have a proper highscore though since right now there are fixed amount of levels and mobs are not varied (because there was a bug and i had to cut varied encounters )

harksa 2023-10-07 14:40

It's a nice game and I liked the idea of having a shooter in a limited space while also having the updrages in the same space. Maybe it was a little bit too small but it was manageable.

I have to admit that I hated the music. The drawings are nice though !

Keep up the good work

lorelei 2023-10-12 01:56

This was a fun game to play! I like the subject matter and the music is on-brand for this type of game. The controls are rather simple, it helped me just get into the groove. My only criticism is that sometimes the enemies would spawn on top of me-- it was a bit jarring, but otherwise, I really enjoyed playing this!

hinesite 2023-10-12 22:54

Incredible use of the limited space theme. A lot of fun, but I can't get past level 5. Too many bullets going in every direction. I probably spend too much time in the middle of the head. I will keep playing.

milq 2023-10-13 10:36

A truly hidden gem! A robust game where some aspects for me are a clear 5 out of 5, such as the fun factor! The upgrade system fits perfectly with the theme and is entirely original! I adore the concept of fitting pieces together for improvement! Moreover, the upgrades are well-balanced in my opinion, and the game itself is well-rounded! If I were to point out a downside, it might be maintaining a bit more consistency in the drawings between the player and the enemies - even if they're a small cartoon or drawing, they should harmonize with the rest of the art. Nonetheless, all that remains is to congratulate you on this game; I find it incredible and I don't understand why it doesn't have more votes and recognition, because it certainly does from me! Great game, truly, it's spectacular!

japayne 2023-10-16 16:00

Most fun game I played so far! Only thing I can really comment on is that the reloading didn't reset the bullet count until after you fired a shot, but that's a very minor issue. Good job!
