I had a lot of trouble coming up with the right color combinations, and the colors in the bottles don't quite seem to match the color that came out on the crystal. Also, the movement was interesting. Why did you go with a hybrid of mouse direction + wasd, instead of just wasd? I wish I was able to get farther along in the game to learn who Ivee is!

sbug 2020-04-20 03:28

I like the mechanic of mixing different coloured liquid, but I felt like the game itself was too hard even on the easiest setting. It would probably be better if there was just a time limit and the crystals didn't gradually change colour from what you put in them. I am also a bit confused as to why you went with that movement system over the conventional WASD or arrow keys. It's definitely not intuitive from that camera angle.

The tutorial was very good, glad the game had that to get used to the controls. I found the game to be quite difficult as I wasn't sure how to get to the colours of the crystals with the colours provided. Art was nice and the sound effect was good :)

Thank you for the entry!

When I start doing games back in october of 2019 my first thought was "I want to do something will color!" (https://robinontheway.blogspot.com/2019/11/on-way-to-review-work-on-survival.html) but in ended with the failure.

This is exactly what I hoped I would think of! Long story short - I like the idea a lot! Only the movement bothered me quite a lot.

Other thing what I liked is the tutorial. It was quite nice from you. I will make a note and next time i will prepare a tutorial also.

Thanks!ยจ

Thanks guys for the feedback! @maxflav @sbug: I actually had WASD at the beginning. The mouse-rotation movement was something I thought I would use, but after all it just became a leftover of all the random ideas :joy:. @snory, @alex-mulkerrin: glad, you noticed the tutorial - often LD games lack one and I barely know how to play.

As it's been said in previous comments, the controls were a bit hard to wrap my head around. Other than that though, I love the color mixing gameplay. I'm personally a big fan of that type of thing and you executed it well. Nice job!

I loved the game idea, and also kudos for the addition of a tutorial. Those are very rare but so nice to have. Especially because I ended up haivng a hard time controlling the character. I wish the movement scheme was just WASD or point and click.

fabian-g 2020-04-20 18:43

Nice game, dig the look :v:

khopa 2020-04-20 19:40

It's great that you included a tutorial, i believe i would really have been lost without it. Even on easy it is really hard.

But good job ! The game looks good !

rob-parker 2020-04-20 19:44

A good innovative idea for a game, graphics looks good but the movement controls were confusing at first! I also struggled with working out what colours to mix.

iosonopie 2020-04-20 19:45

Super nice idea! I appreciate the tutorial. The easiest setting is not easy: love it  Cool sound design!

graal 2020-04-20 19:46

Nice puzzle idea! But I got stuck a bit. When I fill crystals with colors, after time they change their colors for some reason. I don't get how to fill all crystals with valid colors if they change their colors by themselves :( Controls are bit strange, but I already used to them, so it is not a big problem.

jsec 2020-04-20 19:48

clever idea, not so easy to understand, but its a good point for me. good job

rens-jan 2020-04-20 19:50

Loved the puzle game. It was totally new for me but it feels a bit to hard. The controls felt nice as long as you didn't use wasd. I also had trouble setting this up in my game. All by all a really good game

lestat 2020-04-20 21:10

It's a nice game. Complex and fun. Good job!

A unique type of puzzle game I haven't really seen done before! Moving around the space took a while to get used to and solving the puzzle did feel a little overwhelming at first, but nonetheless you did a good job :)

Controls: You could have simplified these. Maybe if you used WASD to move Up,Down,Left,Right, and then used space bar for EVERY other interaction, the game would have been closer to what we are all used to (which is important).

Difficulty: It would have helped a LOT of you used colors that better matched what I was trying to mix. We all know that Yellow + Blue = Green. Cyan + Magenta - what? lol.

Gameplay: *SPOILER* The theme really started long after the gameplay had been figured out. It took a while to figure out that the OPPOSITE colors mixed together would result in the color that I wanted. In this case, 5 colors to match may be a lot easier.

Timing: Once you figured out the puzzle, the game shifted into a different game... the game was now "do it fast"... which was too fast even on easy.

Theme: The theme didn't really start until after 1) You figured out the puzzle... 2) You did the puzzle fast and 3)(theme), you had to just keep doing (endurance).

Winning: Easy could have been a more simple puzzle to slowly introduce us to the game. Then - a GRAND SPECTACLE for winning your game should have occurred. Instead - I didn't get as much reward at the end as I would have hoped for. If you gave a mini spectacle for easy, and let us know that a better spectacle would come on hard, it would keep me striving for more!

Overall - I beat the game, it had good aspects to it, and if you made some necessary changes, you have the potential to have a very addicting game! Congrats!

What a strange game... I like the color mixing idea, but I found it pretty inconsistent in terms of getting the results I expected. The controls, as folks have mentioned, are extremely wonky. But I do like that it's not just another reimplementation of an existing game. It's a new genre! I look forward to checking out your LD47 entry. :)

abiral 2020-04-25 10:50

This is a really unique concept and i loved the game. The mixing concept was cool and overall i enjoyed the game. Good Luck for your future projects!

jimbly 2020-04-25 17:26

Even with the tutorial, I couldn't figure out what was going on - I seemed to get one color looking right and then worked on another, only to find the first color had gone bad? If it weren't for that, I think I would have enjoyed this, as it was satisfying to actually mix the right colors.

100th-coin 2020-04-25 19:32

Oh huh. the controls being relative to the mouse is a bit confusing, but I like the unique twist. Neat game, and cool graphics!

stanov 2020-04-27 19:29

I wasn't able to create a yellow color at the first screen after tutorial. That's where my journey ended.

Very nice graphics! And a neat idea! A bit more polishing and some hints for players would be nice.

Good job overall :)

alexascher 2020-04-27 19:52

You should work with control

aik 2020-04-28 12:49

Interesting idea, but didn't find it actually fun. Didn't get very far so maybe that's the problem, but not really sure where the theme comes in?

sharbelfs 2020-05-02 21:42

Nice idea, and tutorial really helps a lot. For me the only impression is that the character with movement is not really necessary. sort of an abstract game would fit here, unless if you plan to add more content or something in the level for the character to interact with. Overall it's a good game, congrats.
