I can't believe the screenshot looks so good, but it seems that the game files have not been uploaded yet?
@louiejams @moonblast I see the game I don't know if it was just uploaded though.
@louiejams @moonblast Sorry I was just exporting the web version and you unfortunately go on the page while I was doing it. It should be good now have fun!
@blix Ah yeah, I can see it now. So was this not actually submitted in time then or is this an updated version?
Oh, I can play now. The gameplay is very simple, by reading the text on the envelope to create a matching game. Each character is depicted cute and has its own unique image, with a vivid story game that once again praises the cute visuals of the game.
I was able to play it, and I must said that I really loved it! The music, gameplay, graphics and details - it was really cute and enjoyable to play and read through all those letters! Kinda like Reigns, I would totally play a full game version of this! Amazing! AKAB!
I loved the game Characters :>
Love the art style. Very relaxing gameplay.
The graphics were great! I thought the letters were funny especially the ones that were addressed to anybody. Great little papers please casual mode type of game!
So beautiful 😍 Love the graphics and the animations
@louiejams The Windows version is the original submit yesterday, I had issue with web version so I uploaded it today (they are some debug in the web version).
Super charming! I've enjoyed reading each letter and figuring out the quirks of the characters. Might be nice to have a bit more interactions in there, but it's super well made regardless!
This was an interesting experience. The visuals and audio quality was superb, and reminded me heavily of the original "Adventure Time". Gameplay wise it's very similar to "Strange Horticulture", did you take some inspiration from that?
While I do believe there's a lot of potential, I did find the actual implementation lacking a bit though. I managed to finish the game within a few minutes, and it doesn't seem to matter whether or not you deliver the mail to the right recipient. It's very hard to tell if you even did to be fair.
However, I can see this concept working out with proper little stories being told between different actors within your kingdom and outside it, making you a silent witness to staged coups, love affairs, family feudes and so on. I'd love to see you evolve the game past the LD scope.
Great job!
@blix Okay, thats great you got it fixed!I also ended up submitting the web version a little later because I couldnt get it to fit the window properly!
Really nice art and simple gameplay. Good entry :>
I loved the illustrations in this game. I really did. The concept is fun, you feel like a stalker! Well done, great job.
Nice graphics and humor. There could be some punishment or reward system for player. Maybe more hints too.
Great art and feel, was very chill to play.
What a pretty game! It's a shame the pigeons ate all the addresses on the envelopes so the insides had to be inspected, but then we wouldn't have the pleasure to inspect them
One thing that I would like to see improved is the basket giving a reaction when you return a letter, so you know you made the right decision.
This is SOOOO good! Incredible art style! A lot of reading for my short attention-span though! Everything about this is just so great. I love the little (giant?) pigeon that delivers your mail and it seems you only get 1 at a time (that's good, less panic and anxiety!). I kept trying to drag the letters to their portraits rather than selecting them first and dragging it to the letter box. I like how chill this game is, no really strict time limits or anything etc. I seriously hope this ranks well in the jam!
Great art and music, and I love all the thought out characters and text. I will say I was having an issue on itch where part of my screen was cut off making things difficult to see, not sure if that is on my end or yours!
I followed the progression of your artwork throughout the jam, I love your art style so much! Looks very clean and polished.
As I only play the game that are directly available as HTML5, I was SOOOO glad you did because it looked amazing !
And boy was I not disappointed ! I love the art style ! Music is simple yet very entertaining. The narrative is really good and works well with the gameplay.
Two things to improve this already awesome game : - Depending of where we open the letter, a part of it is masked by the screen size, and I needed to repack, move and reopen the letter. Being able to move the letter once open would be a nice QOL improvement - (Clearly out of the scope of this jam but) an achievement system to track if we experienced the all storyline depending on if we sent the letters to the good people would be really nice.
Awesome entry, well done !
The visuals are so cute ! The game is really good and I also liked the sound effects
Nice idea! It bit too hard to understand right recipient, but still interesting. Also graphic is so cute. =)
This game is ADORABLE! I love the cute artstyle and the little characters... The music fit the atmosphere of the game, and the sound of opening the letters are very satisfying. As for the gameplay itself, it was really fun trying to deduce which letters belonged to which, but I feel like there needs to be like a score system to determine how well you did, but I guess it kinda goes against the feel of the game that is freedom. There might be some secret interactions I don't know about... I only played it once, but it felt like a lot of the characters didn't get anything, only a select few did (but then again I had a lot of question marks that may have belonged to another person), (ans also I kinda returned quite a lot of the mail). But I'm curious to know if there are perhaps secrets that I missed. Other than that, very cute game, loved it!
Very nice entry, with some little (but easy fixable) flaws!
- Great graphics and animations! - Sounds and music are on point. - The whole idea of managing letters and choosing/guessing who should get it is exiting and could be engaging, although 40% of letters are too unlear (starting from the letter 2, because I have no idea who is that Barbacus or w/e his name is). - Gameplay seemed pretty interesting until I founds out it didn't matter at all (at least I didn't see any consequences of my actions, except reactions from characters. - Game lacks the goal. I didn't feel that I really need to be careful with letters, and it killed the mood and interest a little bit. Ending without any consequences was kind of bummer. - Controls need some better explanation (only GIF helped) and polish: it's not clear that you need to pack the letter again; it's strange that you can't just drag-and-drop into character's face without opening him directly and trowing in the mailbox; hover and dragging items from the letters are pretty bugged and not very pleasant; UX overall could use some improvements. - Nice humor, didn't feel too cheesy and seemed to the point.
Anyway great job, one the best JAM games so far. With some time and love it can grow into something really nice, and I would totally play it.
I really like the graphics, so beautiful ! But for some it's not clear if we delivered the letter to the righ person or not. But the game is really cool !!!
Beautiful! Beautiful! Beautiful! The art left me speechless! The soundtrack is very polished and well done. The game is interesting but I confess that I'm not a very good postman. I made quite a mess. If it was real, I would have left until death.
Congratulations!
I like art, nice game! So cute!
Ok, this was really cool, love this game! Awesome graphics and music. I had a lot of fun reading the letters, especially when I got funny replies after sending letters to the correct recipients, or got letters referencing pop culture and history.
At first I wasn't sure if I sent the letters correctly, but I watched the reactions more closely and realized when I did. Some letters were a bit too cryptic but I guess you don't always 100% everything on the first few tries, which is fine. I wish there were consequences at the end of the game or a summary of how well I did, though. Edit: without spoiling it, obviously!
I can definitely see this game growing into something bigger!
The game is really cute. The drawings, the sounds and the music are perfects !
I made a lot of mistakes. I understood some letters parterns only too late into the game. But at the end everyone seemed OK with it, so it wasn't that bad right. I will maybe try another run with that knowledge in mind to read more response letters.
Beau boulot !
this is cite expirience, but reading other people's letters is bad :) I would like more feedback about the right or wrong decisions, but then I realized how it works. great job!
Can't tag everyone but I want to say that I'm so glad a lot of people seem to like the art ! That's really heartwarming <3 So thanks a lot for your nice comments ~
@klausklapper Adventure Time was totally a reference for me, that's my favorite show ahah ! I'm happy that the vibe is here. Also I played Strange Horticulture recently and I mentionned it many times with the rest of the team so you got everything right ! c:
The art is super cute, and I loved reading all the letters! The controls were a bit awkward, it seemed like it didn't always register my clicks, but the quality of the writing made it totally worth the mild inconvenience. I'd love to see this expanded on with a larger story and consequences for your choices/mistakes!
AKAAAAAAAAB!
Nice game, love the art, sound is on point, all the little stories are fun & well written! Not always clear who to deliver the mail to but thats okay. Very good job!
The art is fantastic and the game has tons of charm. A couple of the anonymous letters were a bit vague for me to figure out but the overall vibe is very cute. I would love to see more of this aesthetic!
Incredibly cute :> :<
The writing is great too, although the game itself has a little bit of an aimless vibe - more clarity on a goal might be useful, even though it's fun sending letters off to everyone!
Good job making a thing that works :D
HTML version on itcho.io was hard to play for me. Screen size seems too big
Extremely good graphics and overall mood!
What a beautiful art style!
I played this for longer than I care to admit. :joy_cat: It was fun to see the different reactions and read the letters between characters! The letters were cute and silly - very well written.
Sometimes the click to drag stopped working which made it hard to progress.
Great job!!
Such a cute little game!! I loved to read everyone letters and the responses they sent to everyone. The game is so pretty, I especially liked the ugly pigeon who delivers the letters.
It was such a peaceful experience to be the mail-person of the realm for a few minutes! Really nice music, sfx and art, I just wished the audio was louder. I missed some "lose-condition" kind of thing, maybe if we get fired for sending too many wrong letters? A great game overall, congratulation to the team!
Cool game, with artstyle and design being its strongest advantage. I think that maybe with added plot and consequences of player decisions this game would be excellent. After playing I can imagine the power of someone controlling letters in such environment and the vastness of possibilities for interesting outcomes to occur.
The idea is brilliant, I liked it a lot and I truly hope that you will expand it into full release!
The art is soooooo cute and cohesive. It definitely helps the feel of the game. I would totally play it as a full game too!
really solid game. beautiful artwork and music. i can't wait to play it some more. great job!
One of my fav entries for this event so far. A very inventive exploration of the theme and I really enjoy the deductive aspect to the gameplay.
Absolutely love the graphics and sound design of this. I had a little trouble when the lack of info on what feedback you could expect. But it plays so smooth - so went on for a little while. Very good job all of you :thumbsup_tone1:
:purple_heart: :dart: :frog:
Not my type of game but the graphics and the funny/intresting letters kept my attention for a good while, very nice entry!
Beautiful artwork, great audio and an interesting take on the theme! Really enjoyed this one!
Wonderfully crafted game. The game-play is really relaxing and feels nice, specially as a tea-break game. I enjoyed the overall aesthetics a lot, the graphics are marvelous and the music fits well. There's also a lot of routes to expand on that I can see, so that's a good point for a ludum game, using it as a starting platform. Jolly good work overall! Hopefully you'll continue a bit and add the final feedback letter too haha!
What a cute little game! I found the artstyle very charming, and same for the music. I don't know if that's intended, but sometimes I felt confused as I didn't know who I had to send the letter to, both seriously or as a joke. If some letters are left to interpretation or choice I think it makes sense, though. Maybe a clearer objective would've worked better but even like this is it's pretty relaxing ^W^
I had a great (and very chill) time playing this game. The music and graphics are just amazing and I laughed a lot at some of the letters.
In the points to improve, I think it's not very easy to know to whom you should deliver a letter and, in the end, you don't know at all if you made the right choice. But I think this part is more related to game design and we all know how complicated it can be to manage that, especially in 3 days!
In any case, thank you for this little moment of relaxation (which reminded me a bit of Strange Horticulture too), I would have liked to know the rest of this little kingdom!
PS: Vive Etchebest ;)
Incredible art style, one of the best looking games this jam! The writing was also great, I had tons of fun and laughs reading all of the letters and exploring the relationships between the characters. Loved this one, one of my favorites!
The mood of this game is incredible! It's easy to get caught up in following the different storylines, and the attention to detail in the graphics is so cool. The fact that each message has its own personality in its design and tone is a great idea. I had a lot of fun with it. Congratulations on your submission!
Really cute game!
Hey! This game was delightful! I liked the simple good mechanic and the cute story and character portraits! a grand little game!
I really enjoyed this game, the music was very well suited to the style of the game and the characters were very cute!
Thanks for submitting your game on the stream! Here’s the stream if you wanted to re-watch initial thoughts (timestamps in the description to jump to your game!) [youtube link](youtu.be/7zAPBeiWuqA)
I love this game 5/5 on everything
Amazing game, highly polished. The graphics are the cutest, the stories are fun to discover :-) A tutorial screen, explaining what to click, would have been helpful to get people started.
Top notch graphical representation, I love your style! Very nice idea as well, also with the letters which are non-text-based (like this little portrait puzzle). A wonderful entry for this game jam which fits the theme perfectly. I'm sure this will be among the top games <3
Maybe the letter texts could be a bit shorter/easier/give more graphical hints in the beginning though and become longer/more difficult with progress. The demanded reading motivation from the player is quite high in the beginning otherwise
Thank you a lot to all of your nice feedbacks and comments ! We are all so happy you liked it <3
@pfeyffer Thank you !! Indeed we realized that a better tutorial is missing to clarify some stuff (like where do the letters come from and all) Definitly something we are planning to do c:
@joscco Thank you a lot <3 I totally agree with you about the letters than can be a bit too much right away. The idea of making shorter letters to get the player involved easier (at least at the start) is great ! There are many possibilities to make variations that are funny and lighter and we have some in mind for the future 👀
Reaaaaally well polished game, that the kind of entries that are at the same time really enjoyable and also a bit frustrating by how talented some people can be haha !
Very enjoyable, but as some others say, if I had to pick a down side I'd say it's really not easy to understand some situations, or what to do with the reactions of the characters at first.
Et aussi, vraiment bien rigolé sur le ACAB ✊
Nice entry! Great art style. I just felt the lack of feedbacks here and there.
Simple, but a polished game, so lovely look and feel! Art style is so nice! This is a great entry! Keep it up :-D
It's a really rare amazing craft which is purely story-focused and I really love it. The art style is also adorable, so I guess you wouldn't mind if I follow you for the future
Get my :star2::star2::star2::star2::star2: for it, because you for sure deserves it!
Beautiful game!
Two small nitpicks:
1) I tried to drag the letters on the portraits and was confused, that it didn't work. It's a bit complicated (and I didn't get it immediatly) to first click on the portrait and then drag the letter into the letter-box.
2) Sending the answers back didn't make much sense to me, because the letter was also brought to me by the pidgeon. I think it should be the other way round. For example the King should throw over the letter and I will put it into the letter basket. Then the pidgeon brings it away.
Good job with the game!
Beautiful entry. So much character and whimsy!
AGHHHHH WHAT A CUTE GAME!!!! God I love the quirky medieval music and the characters so much,,, their little :< faces and when they do this :3 nhaw. The game itself is like a much more creative take on a visual novel! I love how getting the message to the right person lets them respond, which gives you more dialogue. Sending the letter back was a bit confusing, as others pointed out, and dragging stuff seemed to not work sometimes. Also, I watched this game in one stream and heard the idea of messing with the items people send, keeping some of them to yourself or sending to the wrong person, to change their reactions, if you ever continue this game with a feature like this it could have so much potential!! As it is though this is already a remarkable game full of character, I enjoyed playing a lot
Wow what a cute game, the art is just amazing, and mixed with the music and sound its amazing. Really don't have any criticism this is just awesome. The way the characters move and emote along with their cuteness is unmatched. Really well done guys. I enjoyed this a lot.
Probably the best art style I've seen so far in this jam, I really like the uniqueness of this game the idea of having many characters each with their design, personality and character is praise worthy especially when you consider the time pressure, I had fun reading the well tought out letters, some of them are weirder than others lol, my only bit of criticism is that I wish the letters content was a bit shorter, it made me tired having to read a long letter and make a decision just to read another long letter, don't get me wrong the content was fun but I felt exhausted after a while, other than that this game is awesome, nice work everyone!
I love the art, audio and writing. I found the letters super funny (special mention to AKAB and the insomnia).
I agree with Stefan's 2 nitpicks, I had the same experience/feedback. My own nitpick would be that I found it a bit frustrating to close back the letters, especially when the content was on top, I had to move it out of the way then click on it, it didn't feel intuitive. I would love if you could close them by pressing right-click anywhere instead.
I see some people find there is a lack of a goal. It's true, especially if you want to make it a larger game, but for the current scope it doesn't really bother me. The content of the letters is good enough that I can see it as "the real goal was the letters we sent along the way".
I had a blast, props to the whole team, every aspect feels very polished!
Nice game, especially the graphics and art style. It would be cool to have some more feedback (besides the reactions) in the end if I did something wrong, e.g., I did not realize in the beginning that I have so send letters back and not distribute them to the characters. But it is really fun and could be definitely extended to a larger game.
I think this is the best looking of the letter-delivering games I've seen so far. The squash & stretch animations along with the emote on delivery add a lot of character.
I would have to agree with some of the feedback on a few of the letters being vague enough that I just guessed, and sending letters back didn't feel like it fit the flow. Totally understand that time is the enemy here though :stuck_out_tongue:
Good work overall!!
Great art style, audio is also on point. I quite liked the letters and to know a little about the world and the characters. I managed to see how difference characters react to same same letter a couple times (Like the witch letter or the heliocentric discovery to the magician and the priest) and it was nice to see these diferences, Wish i was a little more clear who could probably answer the other ones as well, as to see their reactions and answers. That said, great job! Really enjoyed myself
Very cute and funny game! Such a fun idea!
Forgot to mention : playing the web version fullscreen, the right side of the game is cut off on my 16:10 screen, probably some resize settings to tweak :)
I loved the game, it's so sad that it ended so quickly D: I played it 11 times, 9 of them delivering letters only to one of the characters to see all possible responses. I would definitely love to see a longer version, like Papers Please. I was thinking it would be cool to have some responses to the letters we put in the basket. Seriously, a great game, you guys did an awesome job :3
This is a neat little game. It's easy to guess who each letter can be sent to, and fun to see their responses. Took me a little while to work out that I could drag letters back to the pile if I didn't want to respond to them. My other main complaint would be that the music and sound effects seemed way too quiet, I had to dial my headphones all the way up to be able to hear it properly.
The graphics are beautiful, and loved all the little details you put in! Found myself pulling the same face as them whenever one of them was sad haha. Very glad it wasn't timed, had a great time reading all the little stories.
Best looking game in the jam, and great music too. Really fun seeing reaactions of the people, would be nice to have a plot line going through the game the only thing that's missing. Fantastic take on the theme. Probably my favorite of the jam so far.
I loved the game! The gameplay style is very relaxing, the humor is on point, the background music blends very well with the whole ambiance, and I didn't feel the need for any additional sound effects. The art is gorgeous, the cute character design of the characters makes them very charismatic and lively! The game is well-polished and well-rounded. Congratulations on the great job and the amazing game! (´。• ᵕ •。`) ♡
Nice Game!
Nice idea, was pretty fun. Would've liked to see different outcomes depending on who gets confused for what or what drama gets revealed. Sent the king the love letter that the queen wanted to send to another man and was expecting the king to go mad or something.
But I understand there is no time for everything, the idea was pretty original and funny still, great job guys!
Super cute! Love the graphics, and the letters are funny and charming. The whole game just feels very cozy. Great work!
The graphics are adorable (I love the little king with all my heart). As others have said: depending on where you open the letter on the screen, parts of it are obscured, and more importantly for the story it would feel rewarding to have the letters be somewhat more linear/be given hints and clearer feedback. To make it feel like your decisions matter you could also have the player repeat the day until they get it right/mostly right or have a counter at the end of how well you've done. Aside from that everything worked very smoothly and I really liked how there's a bit of worldbuilding inside the letters!
The graphics and animations in this game are truly amazing, and the sounds and music complement them perfectly. The gameplay seemed really interesting at first, with characters reacting to my actions, but unfortunately, I didn't see any real consequences of my choices. Additionally, the lack of a clear goal made it hard for me to stay invested, and it was disappointing that the game ended without any real consequences. On the bright side, the humor was spot-on and didn't feel too cheesy. Overall, a great game with a few areas that could use some improvement.
Beautiful, beautiful! Loved the cute squashing of the reaction portraits. The writing was cute and effective as well. Did I miss any plotlines that run through the entire game? I did incite plenty of replies, but they seemed to be one-offs. I know this isn't really meant as a gamey game, but more continuity (and communication between the 9 characters) would have been even cooler!
@caeonosphere There's no major plot, just some "world-building seeds" or implied narration, still there is some "hidden" replies to find. Like the Scholar's findings might not please someone, or the Bard's letter maybe is meant to someone we've not think about After all, chances are you've already discover it all out, congratulations and thank you if this is the case ! The time of the jam prevents us from distributing choices than rather concentrates on the number
There was much thought put into the writing which I appreciate. What was missing was some sort of challenge. Currently it felt much more like a story where the choices appeared matter but ultimately didn't. Not to say I didn't enjoy my time :). The graphics and audio were top notch!
