When the mouse trap fell on my head in the first level I had flashbacks to Cat Mario (does that make this game Rat Mario?)
After the first falling mouse trap I was almost expecting a Mario Kaizo type game, so I was surprised to see the later levels were so simplistic. Something that would be nice to add to a platformer like this would be 'coyote time' so that running and jumping off of the edge of a platform doesn't feel as difficult!
The music and art was great, the player movement/physics/collision could be better.
For platforms I use this as a good reference: https://gmtk.itch.io/platformer-toolkit
That falling mouse trap kept me on my toes and then i stayed on my toes. If that makes sense... Regardless for the jumps on the wall, try using composite colliders. Helped me before. Neat story
Congrats on finishing the jam and thanks for sharing your game!
Cute game — my favorite bit is the cat sprite though, which sorta makes the first level hard-mode — it's tricky to keep him on-screen without dying :-P.
I noticed an oddity around mid-air collision: it seems like when you come into contact with a wall it zeroes out both components of your motion vector as long as you're holding the x-axis movement key into the obstacle, even if you're midair. It seems like maybe it's setting velocity to zero instead of just velocity.x?
Some of those jumps were pretty tricky to get just right — I also enjoyed the bits of dynamic puzzle with the other rat and the falling trap — with the quick levels and fast retry times it's satisfying to run repeatedly and learn the timing.
I liked the music in this game, I liked the lvl design, especially when a mousetrap falls on you at the first level, I thought there would be more moments where you need to memorize the path, but this did not happen, I still did not have enough jump animation, and so I really liked the music, lvl design, graphics
Nice little platformer game! I like the setting and the art style. However, I did notice the lack of some platformer QoL features like coyote time and a jump buffer. Those are small additions that turn a good platformer into a great one.
Nice platformer! Here is a tip for ya, use interpolation on rigidbody to get rid of vibrating effect. you can also add gravity multiplyer if y speed is less then zero, with this jump will fill better , more live and snappy
just i got a flashback when i got kill by the sky but it's really cool
Fairly decent platformer. A bit repetitive once you get to the later levels, but some of the jumps did feel fairly difficult.
A good platformer with a fun story
This was great - I loved the level of detail, especially in the kitchen level . Great art style too.
Your cat had some super realistic sound fx, I need to add some to mine.
I really liked this game! It's awesome!
Nice work! I loved the art. The cat sprite was fantastic, it totally caught me off guard. The vibrating when walking and colliders next to walls were the only things I noticed that could use some work, otherwise great!
"Cool. We date now."
"Yay"
I love that the piano follows the dialogue.
Thank you for making the game forgiving and letting you retry the level on death.
The platforming is a bit rough, but I appreciate the effort in jamming this out :mouse:
The art and the music was really nice and cute. The controls somehow felt off for me a bit. I loved the cat and that it continue to push you to make progress faster :)
An interesting game that uses a mouse as a perspective to represent tiny animals. I find it very interesting to escape from the pursuit of cats while avoiding obstacles reasonably! I invite you to try my game too
One day I wish to be as forward and direct as Ratony
God-tier story and I am so glad. I cried, it was beautiful
Very cute game, very nice graphics :)
I got the cheese Ratina, please go out with me. I loved the part where I drowned in the sink.
Honestly the controls/collision detection are a little bit wonky, but the art and level design is impressive in this short amount of time.
Very cool submission.
We need more rats. And cheese. Lots of cheese!
Cool game, like the cartoony feel of the art and animations, gives it a good feel even though the animation is simple. Nicely done :)
This art style is the essence of jams! Fun and unexpected level design. However it could be improved if the rat wouldn't stick to walls when jumping against them.
Great graphics! and an interesting idea, I got a buzz from the game))
I found the art style very endearing - and it works well :). Cool game!

Like the art, not really the controls! But I played to the end, I wanted to explore the levels. Well done for your first ludum and keep going!
A story that will make you laugh, cry, feel joy, despair, hope and dread all at the same time. The art was fantastic, the sound design was good, I enjoyed the random traps you could die in but I wasn't too much of a fan of the controls. I was also sad when the game ended so fast, I really wanted more :)
I like music, good job
I like the levels layout. And the dialog are funny!
Interesting art direction. Not necessarily my style, but it was all cohesive and looked good in the game. The audio matched and improved the gameplay, so extra points for that, especially the chords playing when pressing space during the dialogue.
Narrative and story telling were a 10/10, made me cry.
As others have mentioned, better collisions and movement would have been appreciated, but for a jam game it was fine.
Additionally, while the game was short, it was quite enjoyable. A solid entry!
asdad.JPG I enjoyed this game. Short but nice Story
the art is really likeable, the controls sadly are not. But i still really liked the game and the fact it had an fast playthrough
I liked the world you created. It's imaginative and feels cool to platform on everyday objects. Jumping felt alright, not too floaty, not too abrupt. I wonder what kind of cheese he got to melt the heart of the lady mouse instantly  :mouse:
The music fit the atmosphere perfectly. I think it was too easy to get caught on the edges of the objects - we should just slide off those. And in the first level, where there's a falling trap, there should be some shadow or something of the sort to let the player know that something is gonna happen

Really good Idea for the jump and run.
personally, i found the edge-hanging a bit unpleasant.
Other than that I was a bit disheartened that the sound effects on space weren't played at the end.
I really liked the art style and the story was good, the movement felt a bit weird tho but I got used to to pretty quick other than that it was a great game
I really enjoyed this game fun little story and liked the art! movement was sometimes a bit odd feeling (floaty) but a great and fun experience well done! :D
Amazing art and gameplay. I struggled a bit with collisions though. Anyways it was a nice experience.
Great submission! I got confused with some objects on whether I could step on them or not (lego bricks, sponge). It would be nice if the objects that kill you are highlighted differently than other objects. Still a better love story than Twilight. Awesome stuff!
Ratony, she doesn't deserve you after all these trials (cat's paw is very scary and dangerous, actually!). The game is small, but funny. The jump feels a little weird, especially when colliding with objects, but I got to the end of the game quickly anyway. I really like the hand-drawn art style, a big plus from me! Nice entry :)
i like your drawings, but you need to work with collisions and with control.
Cute! Good fit for theme!
One tip, if you upload to play on web browser (as you did, which is better for jams), place the link in the html box, not in the windows one.
Some people will be discouraged to try if they think they have to download it. Also, while in html it should work on every major platform, linux and mac included.
For the game itself, neat platformer, I hope to see you around again next ludum
Loved the level design! It felt coherent and added to the feeling of a small but real journey. Some true Tom & Jerry vibes which was real nostalgic! Yay! :smiley_cat:
PS. I was sad that one mouse/rat killed me. Even more deadly than the cat! What did he have against me?
Thanks for the game, I had an interesting time! The graphics and music/sound are really solid. It just felt like it needed a bit more technical polish and maybe a standout feature to really hook me. But it's a good idea with decent execution. You did a great job!
Could use a bit more work on controls, but it does its job. Congrats!
Fun game! I liked the art, music, and sound effects. The collision on some objects was a bit wonky, but overall I enjoyed playing this. Nice work!
I liked the game. The graphic style was nice, I believe the gameplay could have benefitted by a smaller bounding box for the player - but overall it was a solid work. Very cool!
