Very fun, if a little difficult to control. I noticed that the asteroids push you out of the way if they would spawn on you - very good decision.

Its a angry birds kind of challenging and this is very good, if it was intended :D it definitely want's me to replay to beat my score. Props for two players option <3

I will admit to not reaching the first planet! Things I really liked: minimalist style and the drum sounds. The drum sounds were high quality and suited the overall vibe. Kind of a cool juxtaposition to pair scifi with a tribal pre-technology soundscape. Nice riff on a bullet hell game. Maybe it's just my fingers but I found the controls to be too sensitive. And maybe it's my brain, but I found the asteroids to be too fast! I noticed a bug where you're sometimes invincible if you remain at the bottom of the screen. Well done overall.

Very engaging. It's an easy game to say "Just one more try" when you die. Very challenging, though I'm a bit slow to respond to the obstacles, haha. They're pretty fast. I like how there is an easy mode too.

Controls are a little too sensitive, but it's a nice and simple game overall.

I love the concept of this game!

Decided to play Two Player with just one person... it was a blast! You've made a very nice twitch/reaction game. I played a few times on Single Player, but, it wasn't until I switched to Two Player that I reached the first planet. Alas, I died before getting to the 2nd planet. Good job!

Fun game of dodging asteroids! Controls are a bit challenging, possibly because the ship moves quite far even for a single key press? I very liked the "appearing out of the distance" effect of the asteroids and especially the stars/planets. It's also neat that it has a two-player option, quite a rare sight!

Fun game! Controls are too fast and too snappy for my personal taste.

I love the idea of having asteroid come from the depth, it might have worked great with my autostereogram effect to see that depth and understand when asteroid are at your level and when the planet is close enough ( on a much much slower speed ).

silkworm-sweatshop 2021-04-27 20:02

Very interesting pseudo 3D-effect and I really like the sound design as well.

paulhocker 2021-04-27 22:20

i really enjoyed this game, but like some of the others the controls were not quite polished. it probably might be better with a joystick. i feel like there should have been some play there. great concept, adding to my play again list -- because i at least want to get to one planet :0 -- #gogodot

The movement felt a bit too snappy and fast, making small movements almost impossible. For a game that's all about precision, this felt a bit weird and added to the difficulty. That being said, the way the asteroids enter the screen is very interesting, and the audio is very menacing. Nice game!

masaru 2021-04-28 16:38

The ship is too fast, other than that, waow this is very cool challenging game ! I'm going to keep on the side and try to replay to get at least to planet n°2 (so far, my personal best is 39s, felt like I was coming close... but still died).

jason-wilson 2021-04-28 16:50

Great simple game with some nice monochrome visuals. I loved that you made it two player.

I don't understand how lives and damage work. The second player in one game took a lot of hits compared to the first player. Having some kind of damage indicator would help a lot.

Great work

This was easily an ALL IN 5 STARS.

After half an hour or so of trying, I finally got to planet n°2. As an addition to my previous comment : - Having to click with the mouse on two different buttons to restart became very annoying, in particular after very short attempt (my shortest only lasted 3s) - The planets are super pretty, but the first one is already very white, which makes the game even harder after 50s as the asteroids blend in with the background.

The ship speed is very hard to get used to, and still is an issue, but the more I played the less it bothered me. The absence of difficulty curve, or at least the impression of, is also an issue but it does make for an intense and fun experience without a "winding up" period, so it's a double-edge sword.

And the 2nd player's lives are bugged. After seeing Jason's comment I went to try and yes, player 2 can take a lot of hits. Might be an interesting way to try to see planet n°3 though, so it might be an unintended feature ^^.

The 3rd link is an browser version of the game with about 60 lives for each player for anyone that wants a more casual approach. Another option as some people have pointed out is that the 2nd player is bugged in that it has 30 lives if i recall so you can do the 2 player option and play as the 2nd player to get further in the game or you can have a younger player or a more casual player be with 2nd player for fun. Thank you all for your great feedback so far! Maybe I'll post a fixed version in a month when the grading period is over.

keylime 2021-04-28 20:02

Also I think I setup input mapping for controllers for each player so feel free to try that out if you want a different way to control the ship

Pretty cool game that reminds me this good old Asteroids (I love talking like I was born at that time). Just like other people said, I think the asteroids might be too fast, at least at the beginning. However I managed to get to second planet and survived 85 seconds ^^

I like the graphics in black and white, and seeing the approaching planets is cool! Well done!

vasco-freitas 2021-05-02 17:34

I really like the sound effects, they're different and make the game stand out without seeming out of place. It seems to be much more difficult in the first few seconds than later, so that's odd. Anyway it was fun and the sound is really great. Well done.

bbaf 2021-05-06 13:07

Small and pretty game. The graphics are simply good and have its own style. In my opinion, controls could be a bit slower (or with a lower movement step) to increase the movement precision. Overall, great entry!

initialposition 2021-05-18 18:47

The core concept is very nice and the artwork is really good, I've always been a fan of this 1D style. This is basically a polished amped up version of asteroids with way better graphics.

However, I feel like your spaceship is way too fast. This is a game about precise movement and going that fast adds unneccesary difficulty.
