Wow, I didn’t expect to find a Mega Drive game here! Unfortunately, I probably won’t have time to set up an emulator to test it out, but I’ll definitely keep it in mind for when I do.
I just wanted to leave a comment and say that I really appreciate the passion for old systems!
I made it to the end! Amazing, it escalated a lot harder than I had anticipated, at first you think "Ok, Auto Move is probably going to be one of the harder ones, the graphical ones aren't that hindering" but then it hits you with the color palette virus and the scanline virus and all hell breaks loose lmao. And of course reverse attack, that one made it tricky as well, especially with the additional enemies. Super fun, it got super tense near the end! I really loved how it escalated like that, I still have Kega Fusion (I'm an emulatorbabby) open just to look at the funky colors at the end after winning. There's something very mesmerizing about it, it looks super slick. You got absolutely amazing effects out of the Mega Drive, kudos on what you did here. And the controls were super smooth and snappy, it felt great to play as well. Amazing game all around, very well done!
I love seeing games for older hardware, though I don't have the time to learn the skills myself.

Daym cool
First of all, I cannot believe that this is a functioning sega genesis rom. I literally downloaded a sega genesis emulator just to run it and couldn't believe it worked. So mega (pun intended) props to you for that. As for the entry itself, I liked it a lot! Very funky, edgy, weird, and visually incredible. Had a lot of fun and was very impressed!
Thats actually insanely cool hahaha Is there even a category on Itch for megadrive games haha. I really want to get a megadrive just to put this one. Fantastic job. It worked great on an emualtor and was fun to play hah!

Smart little entry, and I appreciate holding off on the audio glitch until the end.

The core concept of a floppy disk gathering viruses to corrupt the world is wonderfully imaginative and perfectly suits the retro aesthetic. Couldn't play this, but will leave rating for the skill it took to do this, damn!

Hahaha, I had to break out my travel tablet (which exists almost solely for on-the-road emulation) to play this. I guess it'll just sit in my game list for the duration of this devices' lifetime.
I liked the background and character art for this. Can't say I love the end sound my lord, but it fits!
If I had a flash cart I would have put it on my megadrive that I actually still have in the living room.
If I had a nickel for every Samuli that I know who does retro games on outdated hardware, I would have two, which isn't a lot but it is weird there are two of them. Couldn't really try the game out but at least there are some promo images to see the game in action.

This is so cool! It’s a pity I don’t have a real Sega, but I happily installed an emulator. The progression, adding various virus effects, is fantastic, with great game feel. The text is hard to read, but I think that's part of the game's charm. The only thing missing is a warning for people who might experience health issues from what happens at the end ;) Excellent work! screen1.PNG
Oh my god, this is SO cool! How did you make this? I'm soooo jelly. You must show me! O__O

I just gave this straight 5/5s across the board. I can't believe you made a Genesis ROM for your compo. My mind has been blown. =)
This is actually an amazing game!
Initially I was put off by the need to find an emulator (never done this and not a fan of retro-gaming), but then I thought that is such an unusual concept that I should try it (I was also having a very boring day). It wasn't difficult at all, and it was SO MUCH WORTH IT!
Great game, aestetics, sound - so retro and so phychodelic, brilliantly executed, I like how everything escalates during the game, and in the end you just in such a rush from all effects that you can't do or see much and you just randomly pressing all buttons because there's only one virus left...
Sweet victory.
The concept is very unusual as well, collecting viruses until complete overload is not something you would do on a regular day!

Heck yeah, love the mega drive. Tried it on my real hardware (PAL but worked perfectly well) and I definitely had fun. I was very impressed with the glitch effects you did and I'm kinda curious how they were done. Genuinely very cool that you made a game for *much* more limited hardware than any of the rest of us were aiming for.
i love this gameplay)

Very nice!
I played it using **Mednaffe 0.8.8** on Linux. First I thought the Movement-virus was my emulator acting up, duh. :joystick:
---
The enemy-sprites and sound effects are well put together and have a feel of responsiveness.
I love how the corruption escalates so profoundly. The glitchiness reminds me a bit of the [final boss](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giygas) of **Mother2/Earthbound** and one of the last episodes of the demoscene-series **[PC-Lamers.](http://viznut.fi/cwu/)**
As someone else has mentioned on **itch,** you probably ought to put up an epilepsy-warning somewhere. :sparkles:
---
But yeah, this was really well put together! I could imagine the game could be a fun experience using a video-projector. Haven't got one hooked up as part of my regular setup right now but might try it sometime if I get the chance.
I also ought to recommend this to a friend who I think has a real MegaDrive at his disposal.
Keep on jamming!
Like it!!!
This game is seriously fun! The idea of playing as a floppy disk that wants viruses on the Sega Genesis is just brilliant. It's easy to pick up and play, but also really addictive. The virus effects are super cool and change the game in crazy ways. Hunting down the viruses and watching the world get corrupted is a blast. Go get infected, haha!
