Great game, I like the visuals gives me silent hill vibes. Theme wise it is very good the rewind effect is a smart touch!
I liked the graphics and the mood, really enjoy the horror atmosphere. Great work!
I like mood and experience in general.
The text on 4k resolution is too small and lacks readability a bit, but figured out and managed to finish the game. Good job!
I think the text at the start should have a continue button, I could't ead it in time, but the was cool, I had to think how to solve the puzzle, but it was good.
Nicely done!
This game was fun. I got all the way through it. I really want more content because it pulled me in and I like how it kept rewinding me as well. Lastly, I also enjoyed the story component. I must know more, lol!! =P
Good job!
Que legal! Seu jogo e muito bonito! It feels like an old Sierra adventure game - I love it! The time limit was a really great way to get the most out of the content you made. The comic book style is absolutely gorgeous!
Very nice work! I loved the rewind effect!
I liked your game my congratulations, I also did one if you want to know, and give me your feedback I am very grateful, this is the link https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/resurrection
Cool game. Only complaints are that it was a little hard to understand what you were supposed to do and the text in the beginning disappeared before I finished reading it.
Good horror atmoshere and graphics!
Google drive is giving me an error 429 when I try to download your game...
@squidzilla I made new uploads in the dropbox and also in itch.io. Please make sure you can now download the game. Thank you :)
Ah, excellent, fixed it! What really attracted me to this game is the pixel art. I kept dying and rewinding, so you nailed the theme :) Really happy to get to the exit at the end. I'd love to play the complete game some day!
The atmosphere and the visuals were very well done, really meshing well together with the gameplay to deliver a great experience. Good use of the theme! Sometimes it was hard to read text but it was manageable, all in all I really enjoyed your game and I'm looking forward to seeing it being developed further! Cheers!
First of all congratulations on your first ludum dare entry! It's a really nice one, and i would love to see more of it but there is only so much you can do in 72 hours :D. Liked the rewind aspect, we've got something similar in our game too. In the beginning i thought i would have to do something to the window especially with that vase.
The puzzle was really nice good job!
I dont like and play games like this, but its good!
I love this game, its mood is suprisingly effective considering the fact it was made as a game jam! I love the rewind effect and I hope this gets expanded into a full thing.
Excellent game! I think you two have incredible potential. I really love the spooky vibes this gave me
I loved the scary atmosphere, congratulations on the first jam :3
I'm not used to this kind of games but I enjoyed this one, good rewind stuff!
I really appreciate the athmosphere of the game and the unique take on the theme, however my experience was really badly influenced by the blurred fonts and pixel art with not matching pixel sizes :) But definitely good job!
Congratulations on your first Ludum! After playing this game I hope you participate in many more!
Really great execution on this one, you guys did an awesome job
Nice game! The graphics are right up my alley and the controls are a pleasure to use, could you check out my game when you can? :D
Wow, this game was well creepy with it's atmosphere in a good way. I tried several times until I got to the finish and I really liked it! Good work!
That was a nice piece of work , theme is here, gameplay is simple and understandable, the story behind is catchy, so good job !!
Wow I love the story! It really pulls you in :)
First things first, It's my first time participating, too. We are the new comers. Your game is engaging and spooky but collision detections and animations need extra polishing. I wanted to see what happens next but the game ended too soon. I hope you work on it and turn it into a full game. I also loved the graphic novel in the beginning. keep up
I really liked this game! I wish it was longer. The puzzles were simple and easy to understand, and it was quite fun. If you ever continue to develop this game, I would love to see more complex puzzles. Very nice atmosphere. I finished the game in about 5 minutes, so I'm not sure if I accidentally finished early or it's just short. Either way, very well done!
Hello @rhythmic-revival, just to answer your question, the game is really short, and the puzzles are intentionally "easy", since many people end up giving up if they get stuck in general in the games. Our idea was to focus on what we could do in relation to the theme, at the same time that we wanted our game to be very accessible to a larger number of people. Of course, the short time and possibly some lack of experience also did not allow us to create more "fair" puzzles. And yes, we are analyzing all feedback, and evaluating a "complete and expanded" version of our game. And in a larger version, we intend to improve all aspects of the game, including a more elaborate difficulty on top of the puzzles (we intend to expand the concept of the puzzles on top of VHS tapes, even our initial idea was the existence of more tapes to be collected). Thank you very much for the feedback. :)
I liked the atmosphere you created in this game - it was dark and foreboding, very in-line with the story you told. The story is simple and fitting to the theme of this jam. Very nice job on that.
The puzzle itself felt too straightforward and simple. And because of that there was no real satisfaction in solving it.
Congratulations on your first jam! I think you did a nice job here and can definitely build upon that if you want to improve or even expand your game further.
Interesting concept with a spooky feel to it. I wish it was a bit longer because I was just getting into it when it ended. The mechanics for solving the puzzle were good even if the puzzles were a little simple. I feel like you could have increased the puzzle difficulty if you expanded on the game.
Overall, a unique and interesting game!
Nice atmosphere and story, puzzle interactions work well, congrats on your first game jam !
It's amazing how a small game like this can create an horror atmosphere. I like the graphics and the mood.
It was pretty fun and the visuals were good altough I really didn't like how some parts were high-res and others super low-res. It was also just a little too short in my opinion.
for the rest it was an okay game :)
Neat little horror game. It got a bit tedious in the end but depite that still had fun.
Cool atmosphere cool concept. All around its a decent game!
Nice, fellow Brazilians! :D
Alright so I think this is an interesting game, I like the VHS theme, and the puzzles made sense. I think the graphics are good, but the images look blurry. I like the atmosphere. I don't like having to rewatch the tape every time I rewind, I think coming back with the knowledge you had in your previous rewind would make the game less boring. It was also very short, but that's alright, especially for your first jam.
I found a bug, when you put the VHS into the player while pressing D you keep walking, and when you hit the door you start rewinding while watching the tape. That had me confused a few times.
Hi @fupi , thanks for reporting a bug. And thank you very much for the feedback. We are considering and analyzing everything said here so that we can improve in a future full version. :)
Felt somewhat unfinished - but I like the aim! And you managed to get a pretty good vibe thanks to the color palette and the music. I also got a bit engaged in the story, its a good way to tell it, so I would have wished that it was longer!
I enjoyed the atmosphere of this creepy vhs-ghost story with cool rewind effect! Very solid work!
I wish it was more of a puzzle that you needed to figure out, rather than just interacting with everything. Nice visuals.
Had fun figuring out the events that needed to take place. Loved the idea of watching the video tape to get a hint. The cups had me for a moment, but got it. Good job
Nice game! The art style, especially the main character's blank face and the gloomy colour palette really set the mood. I got spooked :ghost:
Great atmosphere and has potential for as a full story game! My only suggestion would be to put the text at the bottom, underneath the level; so it's easier to read the text and watch the player.
It was nice, especially being your first jam =)
I would have liked to have more time when reading the messages on top since there is a lot of text, either the text become shorter or the time stops when I'm reading, something like this. Also, the text disappear automatically after some seconds, I would have preferred to have a button for it so I can choose when I'm done.
I also thought it was a bit annoying to have to do it from the start, especially since you have to pass through the vhs sequence everytime, it breaks the immersion sadly. The interaction were also a bit random to me (clean the cups for example), I mean I didn't understand their meaning apart from add content to the game.
That said, it's playable from start to finish without troubles, nice work!
Congrats on your first submission! I understood the puzzles well enough but it took me a few loop-fails to realize I had to take the picture when leaving. I really dig the rewind effect, it works very well. Welcome to the world of game jamming!
Hello @toccio94, I would like to tell you a little about the puzzle of cups. We plan to "tell the story of the game" in a slightly more elaborate way, however we were unable to do it the way we planned because of the short time. But at first we wanted to associate the red cup with the ghost (which in our story is the character's dead brother), so the color red and notice that the ghost wears a red scarf. And consequently the blue cup is related to the main character. We would go deeper into the story, gradually exposing the characters' personality in the item descriptions, and there would also be other VHS tapes, which would help to tell the story better (as well as there would be more rooms with more items to be explored). Anyway, we couldn't focus on how to tell the story better, so we decided to focus on showing our interpretation of the theme. Perhaps my explanation was still confused, but in summary everything there in the game had a reason with a certain logic behind it, defined by us. Anyway thank you very much for the feedback, we are reading everything here and studying the best way of knowing how to make an expanded and complete version of our game. :)
@vphyre thank for the clarification, I didn’t want to sound too harsh, you managed to complete it in 72 hours and it is not easy! I’m also playing many games from the ludum dare so sometimes I can be a bit tired and pay less attention, therefore the misunderstanding could be just a thing of mine. Feedbacks are important but in the end I think you must listen yourself and what (and how) you want to make the game come to life.
I hope you manage to go on with it and make it as intended =)
@toccio94 No problems, buddy. Your comment did not sound harsh, on the contrary, I found a good observation on the puzzle of the cups (sorry if my previous comment sounded harsh). So I wanted to share with you a little of what we had planned. But your comment was very helpful, just like all the feedback we are receiving. This feedback interaction I think in the end is very important for everyone. :)
There is a cursor at the end of recording the first tape 😛. I really appreciate your job here, guys! Nice atmosphere and creepy story! Nice work
@rvenson Oh no, you got me hahaha, let's consider the mouse cursor an easter egg, right? hahaha, thanks for the feedback. :)
Short but cool! Would've like to see more but I know how it goes with only having 72 hours. Great job on your first jam game. Keep it up!
Cool concept for a point and click puzzler - there's an actual reason why you have to progress fast, which I liked a lot! I too noticed the mouse cursor and at first thought I have to jump out the window after the door opens, but the next time I understood it's most likely not intended to be there^^
Hello @trexxak, about the mouse pointer, i'm sorry for that hahaha, we produced that VHS video about 3 or 4 times and there was always some detail to improve. In this "latest version" the detail was the mouse pointer unfortunately (which ended up being due to the short time). We still leave this version of the video on the tape provisionally, as we are strongly considering expanding our game and making a full version. So we thought about remaking the videos, with the introduction of some others if we continue with the idea of expanding the game. Anyway, thank you very much for the feedback. :)
Average art design, next time will be better. Really ?! That game is really fun, good job. I like that audio, very good. Partly match the theme, maybe next time it will be better.. Very good mood, nice work. Overall I like you game, good job.
One last note: I always write down honest review, because everybody need that, not just nice craps with some bullshit, but sometime I will aperceite very good games. So if this review insult you, but use it well :) Anyway every game is counting so :)
I liked the sound design a lot. The concept of rewind was interesting although I found it kinda tideous to redo the previously done rooms. Maybe a checkpoint system would have been cool to rewind just at the beginning of the current room. Still, a pretty cool entry
Short and sweet story with really moody and creepy vibes and excellent pixel art to go with it. The comic book intro was very cool and stylish too so extra points there. Audio was great and music was pretty damn ominous!
The rewind time mechanic was a really interesting way to explore the theme and the story, though while it wasn't an issue for these short 3 rooms, I feel if you added any more rooms, having to replay the vhs tape to figure out the painting location everytime you rewind would get tedious.
Not sure if there is a post-jam plan for this or if this is complete but its really cool so congrats!
Hello @jam373, we are considering making an extended and complete version of our game. We intend to give the player more autonomy from the execution of the VHS tape (our idea is that the player can find other tapes in more rooms). Thank you very much for your feedback. :)
Que bueno! So good! I was never good at this kind puzzles so i couldn´t break the loop...Nice art and excelent sound...I especially like the rewind FX. The global mood and game idea are brilliant. I just missed a game exit button. Congrats!
This was pretty neat. It's good to see how much story you were able to squeeze into the game, but the puzzles were a little simple. I enjoyed reading the observations on things. Also, it would be nice to be able to skip the first VHS tape - after restarting a handful of times it starts to feel a bit frustrating to have to wait through it. Lastly, I think you should still leave v1 up (if v2 came out after the submission deadline) - it'd be good to rate the game as it was originally submitted. Nice work!
Had a great time playing your game on stream! Here is the highlight reel if you would like to use it as gameplay footage https://www.twitch.tv/videos/775837058 :D
nice game, loved the pixel art and game concept. enjoyed playing it.
Adorei o jogo! A atmosfera criada ficou incrível, os sons combinaram perfeitamente e o sistema de rebobinar ficou simplesmente fantástico! Parabéns pessoal, ficou realmente bem original!
Great game, I really like the art style and the horror atmosphere, it reminds me silent hill. The audio is also well made. Good job!
Great mood! I can tell that a lot of love was spent making the game.
The storytelling part is very impressive and I think it fit great in a thriller/ghost game.
My biggest complain is the story ended too abruptly (understandably).
The text content could use more, like, importance. Being at the top doesn't help much because it's a bit hard to read. Maybe having their own panel and a bit of sfx on open/close could make player feel their existence more.
That was a very cool experience! I liked the story and the music. The gameplay idea is great, more levels could be better, but I know you didn't have the time to finish it. The graphic looks really good, but I have to say that you should make the images more pixelated in Unity. I don't remember how exactly you should do that, but it will make the game look more beautiful.
In my opinion, that's a very good game.
Good job!
The game looks very nice. I couldn't figure out what to do after I clean the blue cup and put coffee to red cup, the game rewinds when I go to the left after being done with the cups.
The graphics can be better. It seems like that you haven't used Point filtering for pixel art. Also, some of the assets (like cups) are inconsistent with the other assets.
I'll rate the game once I can complete it.
Hello @gord10ahmet, to help you, after you clean the blue cup, and put coffee in the red cup (no matter the order), the door on the left should open, and you should go back to the first room. In the first room, you will see that the door on the left will open, however there is a "little detail" that you must do before leaving. I will give a spoiler below what should be done, if in case you want to see it (and also to ensure that you are not stuck in a possible bug, although so far we are not aware of a bug that makes it impossible to complete the game). In addition, thanks for the feedback and tips.
Spoiler:
In the last room, you must interact with the only "interactable" item in order to "break the loop", finish the story, and get out of the room. The item in question is the photo on the wall. You can either watch it or interact with it (which means taking it away with you). Remember, that just pressing the observe button (R) will not stop time, you need to interact (press E) with the board. There is a meaning behind this, closely related to the little story we try to tell.
Ps: If you still can't get through, please let me know. Perhaps you may be witnessing an unknown bug. And thanks again for the comment. :)
Thank you, I completed the game. Great story!
I forgot to give another critique: I think it would be better if the thought texts were at the bottom of the screen. It's a bit hard to read them at the top.
Great idea, graphics are good, I like the pressure to get it right. Well done!

Hello again guys!
@jesiahli and I would like to thank everyone who played our game, and left some words of feedback here in the comments for us. All the comments were very important so that we could understand which points were good and which points we can (and should) improve.
All compliments and criticisms were read and considered. And through all the comments that are here, we are analyzing and considering making a possible expanded and complete version of our game. So soon you will be able to hear about our game once again haha.
It was really fun and interesting for us to develop this game together. We believe that the main meaning of a game jam is professional (and even personal) growth of those who participate. And we can say that we managed to achieve our goals with our game. We hope that everyone who participated in this game has managed to achieve what they wanted!
And so we intend to continue our saga as developers. Finally, I would like to ask everyone who is interested in our work to kindly follow us here at Ludum Dare. We intend to continue making games for future gamejams! Thanks again and a hug to everyone!
See you later!
