LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Appease The Gods by japes 2020-10-07T20:59:23Z

I loved this game! It was very fun to try and figure out what the emojis wanted me to do. I replayed it hoping to find new commandments, and to my surprise, there were new ones! It has a lot of replayability. The game is simple and easy to control. I was a bit confused at the start when the emojis were angry at me, but I figured it out quickly. If you were to continue this and make it a full game, I would recommend a larger playing area, more commandments, and actions the player can do. This has quite a lot of potential, well done!

Great game! I liked the creepy puzzle style. The ambience is really good to set the mood. I never got to the end because I couldn't figure out what to do with the code thing on the table, but very good game overall! I liked the sound effects, and the art was nice. The hair on the guy's head was a bit glitchy, though.

Loophole by Laurari 2020-10-07T21:58:26Z

This was very fun! Quite difficult, but I managed to get to 60 after a few tries. The controls are intuitive and simple (although it would be nice to be able to use the arrow keys). I really liked the graphics! The minimalism is nice. I would recommend adding more bullet patterns if you continue to develop this. The music is very nice! Very well done with that. I would recommend adding more drive to the beat of the song, because it doesn't really develop or have a climax. Well done with everything! I hope to see this developed further in the future!

I really liked this game! I wish it was longer. The puzzles were simple and easy to understand, and it was quite fun. If you ever continue to develop this game, I would love to see more complex puzzles. Very nice atmosphere. I finished the game in about 5 minutes, so I'm not sure if I accidentally finished early or it's just short. Either way, very well done!

Photon Loop by Alexascher 2020-10-07T21:42:08Z

Nice job! I got lost in this game for a long while before realizing that I'd spent too much time and really should get back to my life. The music fits the game perfectly! Quite mesmerizing. The game mechanics are simple yet really fun! I could play this for hours, if I had the time. Love it! I hope to see you turn this into a more complex, full game some day!

Delivery Boy Forever by civmaniac 2020-10-08T22:03:36Z

Wow, this was incredible! Extremely well done. I played this one all the way to the end, and then some! I really enjoyed how everything seemed perfectly clear in the beginning but slowly dissolved into unexplained confusion. Well done! I loved every minute of this game!

I really like this game! I enjoyed the strategy with considering whether to just ignore enemies and run or kill them and spend time. I was a little confused after I got the first hand on the clock, because I wasn't sure if I had to go and get that hand again after the loop reset. I figured it out pretty quick, though. Learning the level and enemy layout after resetting the loop over and over is really fun, and makes for a great game. Nice job!

Caverns by Gossian 2021-05-05T19:02:02Z

Very nice game! The art was very mysterious and fun, and the music paired with it well. Having to mash the spacebar with such a heavy, fast-falling character was a bit annoying to deal with, but very worth it.

I loved the jazzy, dark song, it paired with the music well. If you make a post-jam version, I would suggest something to vary the song like adding a layer every level (drums, shakers, etc.). The levels are probably too short to write a new song every time but anything varying it is nice!

Good job overall!

Dream Burrow by RatFace 2021-05-05T18:53:57Z

Wonderful game! I absolutely loved the aesthetic you went for. The art, music, and general gameplay blended extremely well together.

I don't really feel qualified to critique anything but the music, and it's honestly the only thing i could find any little nitpicking with, so that's what I'll talk about.

The song was very pleasant and fit the game extraordinarily well!... that is, until near the end of the song, when a horribly loud and saturated snare comes in, scaring the devil out of me and ripping me out of the whole experience temporarily. I will say the saturated snare sound definitely works well as a contrast in the music, but it's just way too loud. A more subtle sound or just literally lowering the base volume of the snare would make it the absolute perfect song for this game. As it is, definitely the best song I've heard in ludum dare.

Great job from everyone working on this game, I hope to see something again next time! Nice work.

Very nice! I really like the art, especially the main character and swinging animation. The atmosphere is very pleasant, and everything fits together well.

As a musician I feel inclined to critique it a little, however, or I will have an unscratched itch permanently. The music loop you used is a wonderful start, and far better than many things I have heard in previous game jam games. Unfortunately, the more I played, the more annoying it got. I believe the reason for this is that it is both short and not looped perfectly. It takes the player out of the experience a little every time they are able to hear the music restart without the level restarting. It no longer matches what they are viewing, so they distance the visuals a little from the music. A simple fix to this would be to first lengthen the loop, adding a little variety (even a tiny amount helps a lot!), then making the loop more seamless.

Overall a very nice game! I hope to see more from you in the future.
