Sooo... That game made me weirdly nostalgic for Half-Life: Opposing Force (single military grunt taking on monsters that infested research facility... Yeah, sounds like Opposing Force), which is good thing I guess =)

Other that that, it is a cool game. There is super cool concept for a rougelite in that, if you are willing to keep working on that. One more thing - game crashed on me, when I tried to change audio settings. Could you fix that, and ping me? I would love to play that with sound on!

allbetsareoff 2020-10-05 21:51

the biggest issue I have with this game is probably the way movement on the arrow keys was implemented. when you have an arrow pressed, pressing another doesn't always change the direction. I think I also got stuck on walls a few times. The boss fights were good, although a bit more telegraph and wind up on the electricity attack would have been appreciated. The gun sound was a bit repetitive.

I think the enemies are pretty funny, I think one was the top half of a cave man, and the other was robot legs. having the boss be the two put together is great. I really like that you're collecting the hour and minute hands on the clock, that made me smile. Despite the issues I had, I think the game was pretty good. I had a bit of a negative first impression, but I enjoyed my time with it overall I think.

Neat game, keeping track of what you've done was cool and deciding if you should clear a room out to make it safe or save time and rush the objective. A criticism would be that the collision of the character and objects like walls were funky so I got stuck getting off the time platform or dodging enemies. Maybe a feature that told you how many loops you've done would have been cool for score tracking.

@kszaku I think that might be a localisation/local PC language setting issue with decimal points vs commas, a workaround for it is going into Assets/settings.xml and changing the value in there manually to anything between 0 and 1. You might need to change it from a decimal value to a comma as well if that also doesn't work.

kszaku 2020-10-05 22:22

@pandepic thanks, you were right lol. I will change ma rating accordingly

pandepic 2020-10-05 22:29

@kszaku I just pushed a new version that in theory should fix the issue.

Good job guys, nice game

pomo 2020-10-06 15:35

I found it really fun having to learn the level by repeating the loop. Thanks for submitting it! -PomoTheDog

Am I doing something wrong? the game isn't running for me unfortunately. when I click on the exe I get this and it closes quick.

apos 2020-10-06 22:23

@denzil-gomes Was your sound driver crashed? The error says you don't have any audio hardware.

Otherwise, this might be stupid, but try renaming the "Justin Time" folder to "JustinTime" without space.

steffy 2020-10-06 23:23

Learning the rooms and where one needs to go is helpful with this game. Once I figured that out, I was able to move more quickly through the game and get a bit further every time I looped. The game kept me on my toes trying to move through it. Thumbs up!

melvinng 2020-10-06 23:28

Nice game with good theme application!

morrilet 2020-10-07 02:06

This was really cool! I love that you managed to tell such a neat story with so little. The only things that soured it a little for me were the hitboxes - I kept getting hit when I felt that I shouldn't have been. For the bosses I just wound up standing still and shooting them because I wound up getting hit less overall. Still, hitboxes aside this was a really fun entry. Great job!

eugenik 2020-10-07 05:18

Looks cool!

rhythmic-revival 2020-10-07 20:07

I really like this game! I enjoyed the strategy with considering whether to just ignore enemies and run or kill them and spend time. I was a little confused after I got the first hand on the clock, because I wasn't sure if I had to go and get that hand again after the loop reset. I figured it out pretty quick, though. Learning the level and enemy layout after resetting the loop over and over is really fun, and makes for a great game. Nice job!

barelyevengames 2020-10-07 22:50

Very cool! That was a beautiful looking bloody menu and the enemy spawning animation was fantastic. I couldn't figure out what to do on the arrow. I thought maybe the elevator door would work but I couldn't get it to. Was that a bug? Great game!

apos 2020-10-08 02:08

@barelyevengames The arrow is the clock hand. You can bring it to the time machine(clock) where you spawn. The goal is to bring both hands to the time machine to repair it.

To open the door, you need a key.

simple and fun shooter game, the repeating time loop makes you think about optimizing your actions. Personaly I find it hard to evade, due to the large y-size of your character - shots from above or beneath are far simpler to evade. The soundtrack is fun, and I like how Private Justin Time is constantly sweating... pilot-sweating.gif

I like the art style (especially the spawn animation, that's slick), kinda reminds me of some of those old games like Commander Keen. Music's also pretty good, though the sound effects are rather minimal. Would also be nice if there's more feedback for getting hit besides just a sound effect and a missing heart (camera shake would be cool, but even just a red flash or something would do the job). Overall not bad though!

denzil-gomes 2020-10-10 07:57

@apos redownloaded it and it worked just fine. Nice use of effects in this!

apos 2020-10-10 11:05

@denzil-gomes Awesome!

Also thanks to everyone that's played the game so far! You're all great!

justcamh 2020-10-10 14:17

Heyo, I played your game on stream! Here's the vod if you wanna rewatch; https://www.twitch.tv/videos/765804766

Thanks for submitting your game!

f1krazy 2020-10-15 14:57

I feel like this game is just a little bit too unforgiving. Whether the caveman enemies hit you or not seems to be blind luck to an extent. The future enemies and the boss are extremely hard to deal with because they're faster than you, move seemingly at random so you can't predict their movements, and shoot seemingly at random so you can't predict when you'll be fired at. When you only have 90 seconds, fighting them without losing buckets of health takes way too much time.

Which brings me on to the time limit. It took me about 10-12 loops just to get hold of the little hand and bring it back. I have no idea where I'm supposed to go or what I'm supposed to do to get the big hand, and *less than zero idea* how I'm supposed to do *both* in just 90 seconds. It seems like a genuinely impossible task.

I want to like this game, I really do, but it needs some serious rebalancing because as it is, it's just too difficult.

apos 2020-10-15 16:08

@f1krazy There's a good amount of enemies and rooms you can just skip. Otherwise, the game saves when you bring the hands to the clock so you don't have to get both in 90 seconds (you can if you want, the streamer above your comment gets both in 90 seconds after he learned where to go: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/765804766?t=0h20m30s).

trexxak 2020-10-15 22:24

Liked the creativity with the enemy types :D How did you come up with them? Did I miss an obvious reference? other than that, was also a big fan of the purple clock animation aswell as the "wavey" distortion!

somogy 2020-10-27 16:32

Nice game! Good job!
