Great stuff! Cool concept and cool graphics/audio :)

I see what you tried to make here. Keep in this way, refine and practice more and more. Honestly i have many advices but i will go right to the point: - You could use a white font color in the UI with an outline, it could be more neat. - The core mechanic has a great potential, it can be more explored! - The music is retro and have a good feeling, but the loop is too short, you can make more variations! I know the game is buggy and youre seems to be a begginer, but i like to see things the way they can be, remember they always can be better!

The gameplay is very light as you said. I like the way the game starts up with the character running in. The character animation is really cool, especially the digging animation is well done.

The end game craked me up, it's nice to see a game that feels complete even though it is small in content :)

Hey! a very short game but an interesting concept, I would have liked to have a little more levels :(

Otherwise the animations are very nice, it was very pleasant to watch! :3

Thank you and congratulations for this game !

Short but its still cool, the idea is interesting

The graphics are pretty good, but the controls could use some work. Overall an excellent 2nd game jam game.

It was pretty fun, it was just a little buggy for me, it wouldn't let me hit the slimes unless I was running against them, but it was still enjoyable. The music loop was pretty short but I still liked it and the animations (especially the opening one) are really nice

I think there were some bugs. It wouldn't let me hit the slimes so I couldn't make any progress. Otherwise, the art was super good.

Interesting! Very lacking in content, but the animations are nice and the mechanics show some promise. The music loop is incredibly short and repetitive, and the hitboxes are very jank, but it's still promising.

Wonderful concept, I loved the hit sfx, what was the sound source? I'm an audio nerd so I'm always wondering about that stuff lol. Charming little entry, great job homie <3

firefart 2021-05-05 05:49

@conduit Glad you liked it :), the sfx is made by knocking a hand saw as an alternative to a shovel as they both have metal parts that are thin and wide.

Great and really enjoyable experience. The game has a retro atmosphere, that comes from music, art and gameplay combined. Really liked that, and i can imagine how much effort you put in this - as your first time at LD.

That said, i would like to point some things that i think could help you, like:

- you could explore more of that mechanic. It's a great ideia, and kinds of remember some other games - but have a unique touch. That's great!

- It is really too short. You can scalate the game by adding some levels, some skills and a nice inventory. That could give a lot of weigth to your project.

- As the game itself, the music loop is nice - but too short. That makes the music a little repetitive - with just a few more seconds, and it will get really cool.

That said, it's a really cool and fun game, has a lot of potencial and i hope you continue on working at this project. Wish you the best!

Very nice! I really like the art, especially the main character and swinging animation. The atmosphere is very pleasant, and everything fits together well.

As a musician I feel inclined to critique it a little, however, or I will have an unscratched itch permanently. The music loop you used is a wonderful start, and far better than many things I have heard in previous game jam games. Unfortunately, the more I played, the more annoying it got. I believe the reason for this is that it is both short and not looped perfectly. It takes the player out of the experience a little every time they are able to hear the music restart without the level restarting. It no longer matches what they are viewing, so they distance the visuals a little from the music. A simple fix to this would be to first lengthen the loop, adding a little variety (even a tiny amount helps a lot!), then making the loop more seamless.

Overall a very nice game! I hope to see more from you in the future.
