LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Another One Loops the Dust by limered 2020-10-07T15:55:38Z

This game is designed to torture people - the game tricks you into thinking that you are doing well by letting you hear a few seconds of the song at normal speed, you relax and the game immediately hits you with more dust. You get mad, you start working extra hard and end up hitting the needle resetting the track. Took me over 6 minutes to beat the game

Excellent execution though - the art and the sound design are top-notch. Would get tortured again

Dungeon - Repeat! by Stratcat66 2020-10-07T08:59:20Z

The concept is very clever and the puzzles are well crafted too, I enjoyed playing this! Agree that a "reset the game" button would be a nice addition, but I just refreshed the webpage to achieve the same effect.

Over Unity - A puzzle game by nardandas 2020-10-06T06:22:01Z

Love the music and the colour palette. Puzzles worked great for me too!

Loopomotive by JPiolho 2020-10-11T11:26:27Z

This game is just too high quality, how is this allowed? :scream_cat:

Everything is polished to the max - the art style, the logo, win/loss/credits screens, train horn music, fluid gameplay, little sloth hiding behind a tree... Just wow!

Unholy Echo by Dizzy 2020-10-06T06:53:50Z

Great visuals! The only recommendation I could think of is to keep the music playing continuously instead of restarting it on each death, or maybe I should just get good and stop dying all the time.

Torus by MiracL 2020-10-06T03:04:48Z

Fun game! It caught me by surprise when the entire tunnel started to rotate

ronron Therapy by Redunca 2020-10-07T08:10:16Z

Excellent art and a unique take on the theme:thumbsup:

I really like the first scene that teaches you how to play the game.

I've learned that I am really bad at typing word "beautiful" quickly:smile:

Phil Alone by Gabriel Dias Oliveira de Almeida 2020-10-06T07:05:02Z

883MB was a real test for my poor internet connection, had to wait 30 minutes to play this game, but well worth it in the end! I like how deep the main character is - "Or maybe we don't die" haha!

Led Astray by Lyrcaxis 2020-10-11T09:30:38Z

I like the art and the animations a lot! Great game! Maybe it's just me, but it took me a very long time before I figured out that I am supposed to ride the bat in the basement to get the wand, I've restarted the game several times before I've realised what I am supposed to do.

Stuck in the Office by BobParis75 2020-10-06T08:10:48Z

I really like the empty office atmosphere and the music, game feels very polished. Was worth the time looking for an old dusty xbox controller.

Fault Outcome by VPhyre 2020-10-11T10:24:14Z

Nice game! The art style, especially the main character's blank face and the gloomy colour palette really set the mood. I got spooked :ghost:

Lily The Bee by Vivien Fargette 2020-10-06T09:31:13Z

Cute art and great storytelling, a real heartbreaker though, poor Lily

LÖÖPS by Tamail 2020-10-07T08:43:24Z

This game is perfect, I couldn't force myself to close the game until I maxed out all the upgrades and even then it was hard!

I did find one useless feature though - "Mews on/off", who would want to turn off the meows?! :scream_cat:

Hangin' Around by Nocity 2020-10-07T08:22:45Z

Excellent humour, going for the apple first, hand holding hand and getting stuck in the loops over and over again made me smile the entire playthrough  The visuals are really nice too, great game!

Pete Repeat by ChilleBigPP 2020-10-11T10:09:30Z

Nice game, I really like the visuals and how the lab changes in each time period, reminds me of Portal games a little

One strange thing that I encountered is that launching the game also launches Steam VR on my computer, I wonder why

Crystal Curse by LouieJams 2020-10-07T07:44:09Z

Stunning visuals and fluid movement stood out the most for me. I think that the game fits the theme well enough, because you have to loop through the same level over and over again to learn the waves and how to use your traps well.

Graphics, Audio and Mood are :star::star::star::star::star:

Really like your take on the theme - seems that protagonist is stuck in more than one loop

Games are So Much Fun by Rainbows are Fun 2020-10-06T03:29:19Z

Was afraid that I might press "exit the game" one too many times :scream_cat:

LDJRodeo by Oinktato 2020-10-06T09:06:19Z

Highly realistic cow movement, especially that one move where cow starts to spin after hitting a barrier. This is a must play.

Orbitrary by Aimainiac 2020-10-06T06:33:21Z

Awesome presentation - intro, menu, pixel art and sounds, love all of it. The game itself is really clever and fun too! Can't think what else can be improved beside adding some 8-bit music, although not sure how well it would travel in the vacuum of space.

Djinn Alwaqt by JohnDaivisse 2020-10-11T09:05:51Z

Beautiful game, fits the theme very well too!

Stages of Life LD47 Submission by Joshua Steward 2020-10-06T02:34:33Z

Got fired for eating too many burgers

Puppy Loop by Cubiclaw 2020-10-06T06:04:54Z

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions!

@nardandas The puppy count is there to let a player know the total number of puppies in the loop, in the current version of the game it is set to the static value of five, because there are only ever five puppies. I thought that adding the puppy count will help make it clear that puppies do not disappear or multiply, but looks like it's having an opposite effect of causing confusion.

Puppy Loop by Cubiclaw 2020-10-07T07:07:26Z

Wow, more comments, thanks everyone!

@redunca I've noticed that the game won't load when the browser cache is disabled, for example when using a private browsing mode, could it be the reason why the game isn't loading for you? I've uploaded a Windows version of the game, I hope you are on Windows, because I don't think I can build for Linux or Mac, sorry

@tamail I wonder why the the dog wasn't moving at first  I've had to click on the game screen before to get the game running properly, I believe Unity iframe doesn't always get focused by the web browser, could it be the cause?

Puppy Loop by Cubiclaw 2020-10-11T11:01:38Z

@mycosil hey, thanks for playing our game! This is a tiny game so there is no end goal and the original idea was to make an infinite loop game to fit the theme well. We imagined that from the dog's perspective - it doesn't really understand how the puppies are stolen from the kennel or why they end up on one of the conveyor belts, it just sees a misplaced puppy and carries it back home, hence no real progress is made

Several people suggested adding audio and incentive to play - thanks and we totally agree! If we were to expand the game, some nice music and barking sounds would be the first items on the to-do list, with some gameplay enhancements following shortly after. This was our first jam and we didn't have any prior game development experience so we decided to keep the scope of our first game very small to make sure we do release a game in time. We'll try to deliver something a little bit more feature rich for the next jam!

Express Without Remorse by alpacalypse 2020-10-07T07:29:25Z

I've been working hard collecting all that junk, so I could sell it and buy some of that delicious Perpetual Stew. No one was selling though, so I spent my small fortune on thrusters and now my ship zooms across the screen at Mach 2 at the slightest input making me crash into stuff. Cruel game

Purgatory Mechanic by Flawed 2020-10-07T07:55:14Z

I really like the idea, the visuals and that spooky music :skull: Transitions between scenes feel very polished - especially that speech bubble. Great game!
