I like the graphics and how the player moves. Also the sound is great.. I don't understand what to do when i switch on the light on the top.. after appears all those onions (I think).. I wanted to play It more but I was stuck there..

cax 2020-10-07 01:25

I had stuck with the key but the graphics and narrative are very cool

gabriel-dias-oliveira-de-almeida 2020-10-07 01:27

This game is so beatiful man, congrats!

aless 2020-10-07 01:36

This game really got me thinking. The music and the art style are super immersive and the narrative made me want to keep playing more and more. Amazing work for such a small amount of time!

doot 2020-10-07 11:03

(played the ldjam version)

Nice one, I had a great time!

The art is absolutely fantastic, except the onions that felt quite out of place with this black outline. The amazing graphics, along with great music and short story elements, made me feel immerse really quick.

The platforming controls are ok, but I feel like you wanted to put too much in a jam game so some aspects become a bit lacking. For example, it is sometime hard to understand when you should jump and when you should dash through a platform. Jumping down from some platform but not others is not intuitive too.

Is there an ending? I went through all the forest but got stuck at the end I think.

Thanks for the game and keep up the good work đź’•

frederika 2020-10-07 22:58

I got stuck in the basement. I love the art style and the way the story was gradually revealed was fun. I really wanted to see where the story went.

zhanna 2020-10-08 18:05

Nice art! I got stuck though, can't jump high enough Безымяннfesый.png

emily-pitcher 2020-10-08 18:59

GORGEOUS music, GORGEOUS art. This feels pretty polished for a LD jam game!

spyranteros 2020-10-08 19:31

Just finished the game, it is lovely! Very well polished. Music and art were phenomenal. I believe jumping with up arrow key instead of spacebar would make dashing up a lot easier, or maybe move dashing to double taping instead of shift to avoid sticky keys shortcut! An amazing title nevertheless. Well done!

glaas 2020-10-08 20:30

That was great !! I really liked the art, definitely one of the strong suits of the game. Same for the music, really relaxing and kinda mysterious at the same time. You definitely nailed the theme ! Kinda hard sometimes, I almost gave up before the final obstacle. That's a tight jump !

Great work overall, good job team !

tino 2020-10-10 23:05

The art is touching. Finished the story, hit me deep.

mog13 2020-10-10 23:06

this was a little harrowing but a solid experience. The whole thing really built to the end. great work making such a journey in 72 hours! great job!

ben-ash 2020-10-10 23:22

Wow. In the time I had to play I only just made it outside but I already plan to return to it. The amount of effort put into this is pretty astounding. Love the music, art, mechanics, pretty stellar for a jam. GREAT work!

maychant 2020-10-10 23:23

I like the art style. I got stuck in the basement since I cannot jump high enough to reach the key. Any help here? I really want to play until the end.

lyrcaxis 2020-10-10 23:30

@maychant I'm glad you like it and seem eager to continue!

You need to dash upwards, once you interact with the spider egg and unlock the dash ability :P

pulni 2020-10-10 23:38

Thanks for the kind words everyone, and for the suggestions! Our non-code artists did an amazing job! <3

Also, good job to everyone who managed to reach the end! We might've made it just a liiiitle too hard there in the end. :D

@misterm Once you turn on the light, you need to interact with the wardrobe and then you can go to the basement.

@doot There's an ending in the post-jam version. And you're right about the controls. I messed it up on the first day big time, and that left us with less time for tweaking the experience. :/

@maychant you need to jump and then dash up mid-air. To get down after you get the key you'd need to dash down.

maychant 2020-10-10 23:56

@lyrcaxis Ah. I didn't realize that I could dash while pressing up. I slowly got very proficient at the space + up + shift routine. It was a little short but a great experience nonetheless.

overlook-studios 2020-10-11 01:56

Liked the music and the art! Was a very cozy experience playing. The onion sprites stand out a lot and don't really mesh well with the world though. The controls in some ways feel tight and satisfying (the dashing left/right feels good), but trying to dash upwards is a lot on going on with the left hand and can cause frustration (space -> hold up -> shift). I quick remedy would be to have the default dash just go upwards so you can easily do that. Additionally the jump itself is quick and snappy which feels good but having the camera jolt upwards everytime is a lot everytime. With some more polish, some changes to the control this game could be really fun! Congrats on finishing.

h-moon 2020-10-11 08:53

Nice vibe :)

cubiclaw 2020-10-11 09:30

I like the art and the animations a lot! Great game! Maybe it's just me, but it took me a very long time before I figured out that I am supposed to ride the bat in the basement to get the wand, I've restarted the game several times before I've realised what I am supposed to do.

kaafirookie 2020-10-11 11:11

That was a really impressive game, the art direction was good but felt inconsistent, the forest section felt very out of place.

I believe you wanted to give the player a challenge in the end, but that could have been done using the magic wand instead.

The platforming was not required but even if you wanted to have it, the jump and the dash is a mess, the is no diagonal dash making it nearly impossible to do few thing, there is little air control so it's hard to time jumps.

That being said, I was able to complete it in one last attempt, and my guess was right so the art did make sense and may the controls too can be excused, because we're stuck in a bad loop no wonder we're loosing the grip over everything.

The mood and overall feel of the game was amazing, congratulations to the whole team and all the best for your future projects!

shortbread 2020-10-11 11:23

Beautiful art and music! I really like the style  Gameplay was okay but it was a bit hard to tell what I could and couldn't collide with and controlling some of the objects with A/D when they weren't visible on the screen also made things difficult. Overall though you got a lot done in the time frame so well done

midorimelody 2020-10-12 00:50

This is really a nice game. I was able to understand the puzzles and get out of the house. Good job with this. It came out great.

oneiromancer 2020-10-12 17:25

Amazing music and great visuals! The gameplay is also quite innovative. I really like the idea of using bats as platforms.

The control scheme though... There seems to be no reason to dedicate A/D to moving platforms and not use classic WASD controls. Dash controls also feel quite frustrating. I'll be honest, my fingers feel kinda sore after playing.

mza 2020-10-12 18:55

The art is very beautifull but most importantly unique. The idea is great. I wanted to finish the game but sadly could not get out of the house. It seems like im in the minority. I also had to look at the comments section to find out that you can actually ride on top of the bats - i just thought they were a nuisance. What do you do after you get the wand?

Once again, the art is beautiful.

aubryman 2020-10-13 07:34

I finished the game and it was a pleasure to play through it. The controls were a bit finicky sometimes, but otherwise it was really enticing.

matootsy 2020-10-13 08:14

Very nice art and mood. I like the character and how it can go through the stage set of the house. The use of loops on objects work well (Perhaps just a discret ghost behind that show the beginning and the end of the path?). The music and sounds brings depth to the atmosphere of this story. But I was a bit disappointed not to be able to go to the end, because I was stuck at this part : SCREEN1.png

Impossible for me to reach the platform. It's like there's a big collision box that block me. Or perhaps I miss something to do? Anyway. It's a very nice entry. Congratulation to the team!

bentekiller 2020-10-13 09:02

The sound and art style are great, overall enjoyed the game, but was sad that the background sound wouldn't loop so sometimes there would just be silence. The controls are a bit hard and on the jam version there didn't seem to be an ending as I got to the end of the forest and nothing was there. The world and ideas work and feels good, but the mechanics doesn't feel to good.

frecklebars 2020-10-13 10:37

really great atmosphere and art! i loved the entry but at times it felt so hard and clunky to control, especially on tight jumps

smiley405 2020-10-13 16:29

i have to admit.. really nice art work there and good level design. enjoyed playing.

pee-thief 2020-10-14 03:02

REALLY PRETTY

cerka 2020-10-15 16:51

Great piece of art! Love it!

cedric86 2020-10-15 16:58

Absolutely amazing. Gorgeous art and animation.

trexxak 2020-10-15 22:54

Oh man, the art is really selling this!

I got this weird childlike vibe, and things that wouldn’t fit that idea (like the pills, the alcohol bottles and, well, the rope) are put in scene with such a sense of childish naivety that it strangely fits again. Very magical, sentimental atmosphere!

I loved how the bringers of unfortunate events were made to be guides and useful platforms, which really underscored this whole idea of children’s openness to things adults may have strong connotations for. When the rope finally entered the screen, I was cringing a bit, hoping things would turn out well, and while I’m not certain of that, the protagonist does look at it (fittingly) with incredible objectivity.

What a beautiful and strange and beautiful game you created. Thank you so much for it!

karolina-lewszyk 2020-10-16 08:02

I am melting over your art style, it's beautiful! And love the animations :) Trying out frame by frame myself nowadays, and you just became a big inspiration ;)

deathstorm 2020-10-16 12:18

Interesting Game. In Genreal the most Graphics are really nice but they are not really fit together and irritating some times. Till the end I wasn't sure about the "Thorns" in the Wood if they should kill me or not.

The Loop idea was also not totally flashing me.

In total good Work and Well done especially that kind of game for such a short time.

peace-of-cake-games 2020-10-16 13:16

Wow, this is really good! Now my "Favorite 11 Games Of LD47" list gets to be changed to "Favorite Dozen Games Of LD47". I love the adventurous/tragic music, I love the sad story, and I love the graphics! (I have made it well-known on several posts and my own game that I have a soft spot for hand-drawn style graphics.)

virimine 2020-10-16 15:08

*Thanks everyonee for your lovely words and insightful feedback~!!* :wind_chime:

@overlook-studios yeaah onions are leftover placeholders cause we managed to finish the *real* creatures half an hour after submission hour haha  thanks for your suggestions also!! I think we all agreed that the multiple buttons you have to press at some points are working against the whole experience.

@cubiclaw you are right about the bats... took us loooong time to decide what the 'moving objects' would be.. it would be either 'plain boxes' or some kind of leaving creature... for some reason we decided on the second even if we new it would be confusing... Buuuuut they are moooore beautifuuul, riight?? :3 (baaad last minute decisiooons  )

@kaafirookie yeaah... forest was done a bit quickly bcs our environment artist was working last day of jam so she didn't have enough time for polish... thanks for your honest feedback and for excusing our controls hahahaha

@shortbread and @oneiromancer thanks for your feedback as well!! and swooorry for your sore fingers.. hope they got better

@mza yeaah bats are confusing... Weell the wand controls some boxes in the basement... you can press A/D to move them around from anywhere you are!! (amazing huh?? )

@matootsy did you try hopping on the bat? :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: (thanks for playing and for your supportive words *and* sorry you didn't manage to finish the game...

@bentekiller ooopss~ @pulni, @lyrcaxis .. did you forget to loop the sound? :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: yeeeah we didn't actually manage to make the ending on time and as we had imagined... even the post jam versions have a placeholder one.. bcs we thought it would be unfair to make it polished as in the original version there isn't even one...

@trexxak your comment was soo mooooviing, it made my day~ :'DD Thanks a lot nice random person on the internet for sharing your beautiful thoughts :yellow_heart:

@karolina-lewszyk aww :purple_heart: I am sure you'll do great!!! I'd love to see the results!! Do you plan on posting them somewhere?

@deathstorm could you explain more where you feel they are irritating and don't fit together? Would help us a lot to improve! Truth is, thorns where originally made to make the player get killed... but I think we decided thath shouldn't be the case.. cause... :warning: **SPOILERS:** the player is already dead... :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: (also we might have though it would be a bit annoying to restart the level.. especially with how difficult the controls are~)

@peace-of-cake-games but where is this list i am reading all about???

*Your beautiful comments are filling the atmosphere of our page with warmth, beautiful colors and chocolate cookie smells~ Gratitude to all~!* :fallen_leaf:

peace-of-cake-games 2020-10-16 15:34

Ha ha, I'll admit, I haven't posted my list yet! I posted a list of eight great games a while ago, but I've added more games to the list and I need to repost. (Also, very few people saw my list because it was instantly swallowed up in the blog's "PLAY MY GAME" spam comments)

deathstorm 2020-10-16 18:58

@virimine

In my opinion the walls of the house are not really fit to the interrior the some of the "objects" (Interrior) seems to be a slght other style then the other. The animals have also annother style which are just "bite" with the other objects.

Especially in the woods/forest, the 2 different types of wood are irritating and then the thorns which are just not really fit in the scene.

Then I think it was not really clear through what I can Dash and through what not.

Its pretty hard to describe and maybe its just my subjective view. But Iam just talking with a friend and we both can't really put it into words what bothers us in the different screenshots.

Never the less a cool Game ;)

omarmobadr 2020-10-17 20:31

this game is just amazing from the very beginning of the itch.io clean page all through to the "thanks for playing" sentence.

I think there were too many bats and mouses it annoyed me a little but was fine also the last bit where I had to dash and jump was very frustrating to me.

other than that the game is a small masterpiece, very well done.

meatball 2020-10-24 18:34

Terrific! Can see a lot of care put into every aspect, from the story, animations, music and the programming - Great work all around!

pulni 2020-10-24 18:42

Finally someone appreciates the programming!!! You're the best @meatball !!! (Well, after @virimine who probably tricked you into mentioning it without even knowing the mess we've made  )
