Good job, when I was playing, it was very difficult to make the enemy hit the wall when I had a large range of movement, and it became less difficult to maneuver when I had a small range of movement, and the display space worked much better instead.
Nice game! Kicking enemies into/ the walls themselves is a very unique way to move around, and it feels really good. The music and sounds are also nice. It was a bit hard to super kick the walls near the edge of the window with a mouse because I kept clicking out of it, at least at the start before the area got smaller. Still, overall very fun and on-theme!
Phew, took me a while to beat, but I got there! Very crisp and smooth action. Also refreshingly polished—there were some times I wasn't sure how I died but I didn't encounter anything that I could say for certain was a bug. That's no small feat in and of itself. Also one of the best applications I've seen of the theme yet, and the catchiest music I've encountered so far in the jam as well. So glad you included gamepad support!
My only criticism is I wish the super kick had a more obvious and dramatic animation, and if there was some visual way to tell when it was charged up, I didn't see it. I think I'd be happy to play this again in the future!
I had a hard time controlling the directions of my kicks, but I Think that might just be because I wasn't using a controller. I might come back to this to try with controller because the mechanics are pretty cool. Having to watch out for those guys that cut off your screen, and not doing damage but having to push the enemies into the edges, while also trying to reach the edges, was all pretty well thought out and executed.
Great game, and love the gameplay machine! It's so interesting that I can kick those enemies on the wall to move my little piece, and the music also works well for this game! But I have two little questions, I am not sure why my screen gets all red in the beginning? And I feel a little bit confused how I am die. But lol, nice job guys! Btw, feel free to play our game!
@hangovergames Many thanks! We greatly appreciate the kind words.
Thanks @zeit ! And heck ya we'll play your game! Expect to hear from us soon! =D
Also, thanks for the kind words on the music. I have an unhealthy Famitracker addiction, heh. I suppose if we ever port this game to the NES, we'll have the music covered. =)
Thanks @lettas ! Ya, we spent a lot of time on the kicks and did a lot with balancing so that the game is rewarding if you use the full potential of the controls, yet still rewarding when you use just a subset of the controls. Hopefully we pulled it off with the time constraints in place. O__O!
@mduo13 Many thanks for the kind words! The guys who worked on this put a lot of work into getting you that crisp and smooth action. By the way, the orb-like creatures keep shoving me into the walls as well, lol. Sometimes I'm in the wall and I'm like, "Which orb-guy did that?!"
Thank you so much for the comments on the music. I definitely have this "unhealthy addiction" with Famitracker, which allows us to emulate what a Nintendo would generate from Ricoh 2A03 instructions that we specify in Famitracker's nifty tracker interface.
I love the retro vibe. Loved the driving music which fit the arcadey gameplay very well. It took me a little while to get how the game worked, but once I understood it I really liked it. Reminded me of Volfied and Robotron. Well done!
good fun, a little bit addictive, the super kick is as satisfying as it is super & the music is good too.
while the super kick does feel great, i think the regular kick is a little lackluster, perhaps it just needs some effect/sound for when the enemy is actually hit and it'd be ship shape
i also agree with the others about the mouse easily wandering out of the window during the earlygame, it's more of a nitpick but it could be nice if perhaps there was some dead space around the screen or if the mouse was confined to it. (i tried to use a controller but i couldn't get it to work in chrome or firefox for some reason, could be a problem on my end :S) - i respect your choice to support it anyway.
kicking the menu options out of the screen to restart is also such a wonderful touch, great work guys!
Great game and the introduction with the gem and the game over screen with the buttons were really cool. Overall super high polish! I found it quite difficult thou and wasn't even close to getting all 8 gems. Good job!
This game introduces innovative mechanics and challenging enemies that keep players engaged. However, it's quite difficult, and it's not clear how to expand the play area.
Pretty fast and fun game! The pink arrows felt a bit confusing at the begiining, sending me up and down and up again, but after a while it worked well, for me. You got a great artstyle there and created some strong arcade-action-feeling with the music. Cool game!
Cool take on the theme! The game was quite hard until I realized how effective the super kick is at clearing the screen. Even then, still pretty tough :)
Lots of cool touches too, like the "kick to restart". And the music is excellent! The best I've heard in this jam so far! Definitely feeling some vibes of Undertale and Monolith in there
@linwenhao Many thanks! And ya, I agree, lol. It feels like I'm trying to manage too much space in the beginning. When the bots finally shrink up the space a bit, it's way more manageable to kick the robots out. Getting three hits and then kicking the screen is super effective at destroying the most robots for sure.
Thanks @amberfall92 ! We actually fixed the controls for people who aren't using a controller. I have to say, though, when I started using the controller for the first time it was way overpowered, heh. I think the controls on the keyboard are way more powerful now. =O
Great entry! Catching game mechanics. And soooo cool music! Awesome.
This game is absolute carnage but in a great way. It's really frantic and fast paced which I love. The main mechanic is really well done (and super impressive). Nice work!
The game cover and page image misled me or at least gave me the wrong view of what to expect because the game is completely different from the page image.
