I was hopping for a gladiator game. Nice work!

jeysym 2017-12-04 23:32

Nice game. Music at death screen really surprised me :D.

le-american 2017-12-05 05:10

I really like the graphics! It took me a while to stop dying after like one kill but the music at the death screen is rather funny haha it's a nice game!

dj-depressive 2017-12-05 07:35

@le-american Thank you very much! :) Yeah, I can imagine that it takes a while to get accustomed to the controls of the character but I'm happy you managed to get a hang of it :)

fskr 2017-12-05 12:45

cool game. I got 17 kills on my first try. was actually hoping for some blood splashes and sounds after reading the title. a block or a roll would have been nice features as well (or maybe I didn't find them). you could have provided a small tutorial on controls or put it in your description here :) otherwise nice jam.

blooobird 2017-12-05 13:05

@fskr Thank you for playing our game! Your score was higher than most of our testers. We appreciate the feedback and we will probably update the project after the ludum dare results are up, this was our first game and we lost some time after oversleeping on the first day, so we didn't have time for blood splashes. Ps. You could block with rmb :)

2017-12-05 13:30

The control is not very comfortable for me. The camara is fixed so I can't judge the distance between me and enemy so that it's a bit difficult to do the right action at the right time. I suppose that a control instruction should be added in.

remco 2017-12-05 15:24

So, is there a strategy to this? Because it seems to me the opposing gladiators turn fast enough, your own speed is slow enough, and they come right at you; that there is no other way than to just rush at them as quickly as possible, and hope they don't do too much damage.

Some pretty decent art tho'; nice light effects

designernap 2017-12-05 15:28

Such happy music for a brutal arena! :D nice entry

blooobird 2017-12-05 19:25

@remco when we tried we were able to out run the enemies turning speed, sadly we did not have the time to balance it further, but thank you for the feed back.

@designernap Thank you :)

kbf123 2017-12-05 22:26

Okay yeah... that song is a bit off putting.

Also the gameplay is rather tough for me. I can't seem to kill someone without getting hit first.

If that's the idea, then fine, but it makes the game feel a bit less skillful.

blooobird 2017-12-06 13:50

@kbf123 Thank You for the criticism, we will most likely rebalance the game when we get the chance :)

yancouto 2017-12-06 21:38

Any chance of a linux build?

root88 2017-12-06 21:59

I was hyped by a gladiator game, but would be nice if you can block while moving. And feedback ingame for actions and successful block and hit ingame would be nice. :)

blooobird 2017-12-06 22:01

@yancouto I can look into it, have a few school things to do first

kutase 2017-12-06 22:14

Looks interesting.

zgragselus 2017-12-07 01:06

The gameplay is strange, I would expect some block mechanics and various attacks (strong/fast). But one could just go to enemies and click them to death.

They hit quite hard though and after few ones you will eventually die.

Anyways, it is quite nice base concept - it requires a bit more polishing, although which game on jam/compo doesn't right.

Keep up the good work.

blooobird 2017-12-07 07:36

@root88 Thank you for the feedback, we will probably make another build when we have time where we can use all the good feedback we've recived.

@zgragselus Thank you for your feedback, i am glad that i we have gotten this amount of tips, we hope you will try the game when we've made another build

ursagames 2017-12-10 06:59

I was not expecting that music on the death screen! That was pretty fun, managed to kill 18 gladiators on my first go. Seems like strafing to the left works well enough until you start getting too many spawning at once. Plenty of things that could be added, but this felt like a pretty solid game jam game :D

dj-depressive 2017-12-11 18:56

@ursagames I'm glad you liked it :) We will be updating the game in a while but right now school just consumes too much of our time. Do let us know if there's any specific changes you'd like us to make or any stuff that you'd like us to add to the game ;)

toestee 2017-12-12 10:06

I got up to 16 kill but it took me a few tries, and I never figured out what that bar above me reticle that just kept going up and then straight back down did. I eventually got a strategy of strafing left around the enemies until I got close enough to kill them.

dj-depressive 2017-12-12 11:14

@toestee The bar represents an enemy spawning, we should probably add a text explaining that. Glad you managed to get a hang of the game though ;)

cayleblucas 2017-12-12 12:02

Really cool game :)

2017-12-12 22:56

Pretty simple, but kinda fun anyway. I found it pretty funny when I hit the critical point and the game started spawning enemies every frame, I can admire that. The music is pretty... annoying though.

blooobird 2017-12-13 11:22

@fenreliania Thank you, the music was meant to be a placeholder and we will change it, we hope you might return later when we update it
