Lol I love how random this idea is!

patrick-abernathy 2023-05-03 01:38

I did something wrong the first time but figured out my issue. I finally got to play it. It is an interesting idea. I enjoyed it a lot since it is different.

Hello geck0, Thank you for letting me play your game, Delivery Rock!

I like the twist on the caveman doing a delivery. It is very unique! I can see how with multiple levels you can expand on complexity. The best part of the game for me was the animation. Great walk and work cycles.

One area that could be improved was the camera. The instructions kept moving off screen for me!

Anyway it was a great game! Have an a great Ludum Dare! :)

屏幕截图 2023-05-03 094512.png When I cut trees or collect stones, there is a chance that I will maintain this action and then I won't be able to do anything!

nuin 2023-05-03 01:54

wacky idea but i also had the glitch where you cant do anything after spamming E

batisdark 2023-05-03 02:10

Couple of things I want to mention right ahead: those timers above dwellings, I only got what they are at like 5-th mission, I think? I wasn't actually counting. They really need a bit of explanation. I was wondering what was going on with me making only one delivery on third or so mission. Another one is that if you are too close to any building when you unload goods from the stone - it won't register, unless you move out a bit and move back in. Would be much better if any movement in 'delivery' radius with goods would proc delivery, of course.

And then I fell through the ground...

Oh and I think I know what causing animation being stuck (and actually it kills the ability to interact for me completely too) - it happened to me multiple times when I was mashing E repeatedly trying to gather resource. Had no issues as soon as I started to just hold E for it.

Other than those issues (and NextLevel being without space ;p), game was really smooth! Stone, maybe, a bit too light and was knocked a bit too far by me, but its okay. Idea is neat too. Music was great and artstyle was impressive.

I also really apreciated those tutorial messages at start. They were neat and on-point (need dwelling timers first time you see them though!). Game is fun overal :)

Thanks for your comments!!

I know that bug (@leking, @nuin, @batisdark), I thought it was fix last minutes but I see it don't >_<. Is it fair to fix that and re-upload the game? or people should rate my game with this glitch?

@austin-sierra The main idea about the orders window was put them in the top of the screen (like Overcooked). But that task was in the end of the pile and I had not time to do it >_<

nuin 2023-05-03 22:35

@geck0 that sucks, you are allowed to upload a post jam version, but people usually rate the version you finished during the jam. Don't delete the original file though

svenerik 2023-05-04 16:53

Uga-booga rock good, delivery nice. Quite the caveman strong-man competition~ I really like the idea and it's done very neatly! I also love the aesthetic of it a lot, very well done!

jim-jagers 2023-05-04 18:18

Very fun and unique game. My only nitpick is that i wish you could hold E too swing instead of repeatedly pressing it

geck0 2023-05-04 19:44

Thanks for playing @jim-jagers! Actually, the main way to collect resources is to hold E, but alternatively you can press E 5 times to do the same.

Maybe I should have put "holding" instead of "pressing" in the controls, my english sux sorry >_<

yoddaa 2023-05-05 15:26

@geck0 very cool game. good job.

ponygirlluna 2023-05-05 21:57

First off: the animations on the character were absolutely top-notch! They felt so smooth and fluid. I'm always very impressed whenever anyone manages to put together such good animations on top of a game in such a short time period.

Rolling the rock around was a real challenge and I thought it very amusing that you could struggle with hauling around logs and stones and then just shove the gigantic rock around as if it were a ping pong ball.

Where it fell a little flat for me was the time limits felt too generous for the speed of collecting resources, so I didn't feel any huge *need* to use the rock to transport materials around or optimize my pathing to be more efficient. I still wanted to use the rock because it was fun, but I don't feel there was much of a challenge as far as completing deliveries went.

Still, I had fun with it! Really nicely done!

dustyredbird 2023-05-05 22:05

This is a fun game! The art, animations, and music were really well done for a jam!!

My main wish is that some of the UI elements were not in the World Space but were instead on the screen - that way I could see what items were needed, how much time I had, and what was inside the rock. That way, I could feel like I'm planning a bit more. But the physics goofiness of it and gameplay was really fun - great job!

geck0 2023-05-05 22:27

Yeah @dustyredbird, I was planning to put the tasks at the top of the screen and show the inventory in one corner, but... I didn't have time to do that, hehe. And because of this inconvenience, the difficulty was a bit easier @ponygirlluna (and I didn't have time to do a big test to balance the truth) Other Ludum Dare editions I made games too challenging and people didn't like it too much hahaha

Thanks for playing my game and giving me this feedback! :)

follett12 2023-05-06 01:42

Really different idea, obviously science has progressed far enough to know rocks are the true best form of transportation. I felt like maybe everything was just a tad too slow and speeding it up just a ton would make it more engaging. Regardless I love the art, and the music fits well. Maybe turn up the volume on the hit effects so you can hear it just a little bit better.

Really impressed with the art style though, incredibly impressive to do all that in such a small time frame.

chucks-feed-and-seed 2023-05-06 02:38

Funny game. About as pure "delivery" as a game can get! I wish I had read the instructions to *hold* E to gather... would have saved me a lot of headache. Well done!

yuriscat 2023-05-06 03:01

Interesting game! If our primitive ancestors had such a smooth stone for moving objects, technology would have improved efficiency by leaps and bounds. I noticed that your time is tight, and some content was not completed. I really wish you could have more time to perfect this game. However, this game is already great as it is now!:hearts:

yuriscat 2023-05-06 03:03

A muscular man with little clothing and a smooth stone comes to mind... I couldn't help but think of this. I made a picture to give to the development team (no offense intended!)

Now that's a silly take on the theme. Fitting mechanic to go with it as well. Unfortunately I'd have to agree with the above comments that the screen space UI is desperate needed, too bad you weren't able to it in in time. I'd also suggest that perhaps the storage rock should decelerate faster (more friction, more mass?) since it often rolled out of control on me, costing more time than it saved. It would also just make more sense since it's a big rock so naturally it's not very lightweight. It's nice that you were able to get in a lot of level variations, though I think next time it might be better to worry less about quantity and perhaps spend a bit more time playtesting for balance since I'm not sure the last level or two are even possible to do perfectly (if so, it's beyond me! :hushed:) That being said, the art and music were equally silly to the premise and worked nicely, plus the character animation was fairly well done. Overall, not a bad entry!

python-b5 2023-05-06 07:45

Definitely needs some polish but the idea is neat and definitely has some potential. I like how easily the rock rolls around, pretty funny ;)

geck0 2023-05-07 01:06

Thanks for playing my game and leaving your comments here guys!

@yuriscat I love it haha. It is an honor for me that someone spends their time to create an image for my game!

yuriscat 2023-05-07 03:03

@geck0 I'm honored that you enjoy my work. Wishing you a wonderful day!

kitira 2023-05-08 18:00

Cool game with a very unique game idea! It's fun to push a bunch of stones and wood around in the holed rock. And I also like the graphic style. Great game!

maskrosen 2023-05-09 15:21

Interesting concept with the rock as a storage place to move things faster. The graphics looks nice as well, good job!

sarah-alexa 2023-05-09 20:21

This is such a cool idea! Taking survival game mechanics and using them for this was a really nice change of pace. I love the 3d modelling and how easy to understand and play it all is!

I do think maybe one less hit to gather and making it so the rock doesn't roll away and do its own thing would be good but outside of that it felt very relaxing to play! A mode without timers to just switch off to would probably have me zoning out to it!

Great job on the music btw, it was so jolly and fitting! Really well done!

hakro 2023-05-09 20:50

Cool idea, and I really like the graphics. Simple and to the point. Well done !

shp 2023-05-12 19:57

very nice graphics, animation and music stand out immediately! well done!

The visual elements in this game have a charming simplicity, creating a visually pleasing and accessible experience for players of all ages
