I loved this one! Pretty graphics, satisfying controls, stellar music and a challenge that feels fair... What's not to love?

The only thing I'd change is make the lights in the background less bright - right now their brightness makes it a little bit harder to concentrate on the character. A setback like that won't stop me from giving this one a 5-star rating! I give those out rarely, but you deserve it

jeremia 2019-10-08 08:36

The Linux and Windows Build on itch.io have have the wrong symbol, you might want to switch them around.

valden 2019-10-08 08:41

This game is very pretty, but it's also very hard ! Well done nonetheless

vovin 2019-10-08 08:42

Nice aethetics. Also pretty innovative concept to play 'being assembled'. The camera motion feels somewhat jerky though.

d1gital-cuts 2019-10-08 08:43

@jeremia Oh yeah, I did switch them up. Thanks for notifying me!

skalex 2019-10-08 08:48

This game is soooo hard! Its got amazing graphics and a nice sci fi fibe but I just can't finish it. Some of the jumps are really hard to make and I feel like I've cheated rather than thinkiing I made a mistake! I think if you made the platforms easier to get to this would be a really fun game! Great job!

d1gital-cuts 2019-10-08 08:49

@vovin yeah, I the camera kinda sucks :/ Worst part is that I know how to fix it, just didn't have time.

agegorin 2019-10-08 08:57

Very nice game. Visual, sounds, gameplay - all good!

graphicedit 2019-10-08 18:02

Nice game

caberu 2019-10-08 18:04

The movement of the character feels so good! And it is well animated! The music is cool but I think that it would be better if it doesn't restart when you die. Great game!

glowt 2019-10-08 18:16

Looks great and plays well but it is way to hard for me, a lot of the jumps require me to stand with 90% of the character of the ledge to make the jump. Don't get me wrong I really like the platforming and the whole game is incredible for being made by one guy in this short time span. It is just that I got a bit to frustrated to finish a game a really liked. Good job!

dock-frankenstein 2019-10-08 18:22

It's almost great. I had to wait for the platforms for a very long time and the game play is really shaky. Despite it all one of the best games in this Ludum dare.

vectorwolf 2019-10-08 18:38

Just wow! This whole assembly line feel works really well. The music track is also easily one of the best I listened to till now. The gameplay is also great fun but the difficulty spikes at some point where I can't get further, thats a bit of a bummer. But nonetheles, you made a really great job there

sztobar 2019-10-08 21:56

I've waited to play this game ever since I saw first gameplay previews! Love how fluid all the animations are, and the mood of the game is fantastic. I have to try using Godot for myself.

bigwhiteshogun 2019-10-09 00:55

JESUS ! This is so awesome. First of all, it has to be said. Something about this game got our attention even before the jam have ended. Maybe it was it's art style, maybe slick animations, or mood, probably all of those above. And then we lost it in the sea of the games upon release, but you found us. I'm not joking this is the highest I ever rated the game ever during LD. I freaking love it! I love controls, mechanics, ost, sfx, animation, ART STYLE!!!. Oh not mentioning the ending I won't spoil.

Is there a way to follow you on social media? I hope you continue working on this game and make something great out of it, at least I think you have a proof of concept of great game in your hand!

PS We were actually planning first to have rocket boots as last upgrade for BoBo as well, that would work exactly the same as your jetpack, we even had it coded in the game and working. But then the idea of propeller ala inspector Gadget came to our minds and there was no going back from it.

hcursino 2019-10-09 04:03

Some jumps are so precise and hard to execute that Vaas showed up at my place to explain to me the definition of insanity. Gotta say that I just LOVED how you implemented the double jump mechanic. Most games I just double jump everywhere because jumping higher is usually good, but in this case double jump makes you hit the ceiling and die, so you gotta use the double jump with timing and in the right places there is no abusing this mechanic. Good job, amazing work overall.

adamcyounis 2019-10-10 03:19

This game was insanely well polished for a game jam. I was so impressed with how carefully the effects and animations were implemented, it helped the really sell the concept. great art, animation, sound etc. The game was very challenging, to the point of being a little bit frustrating, but I had a good time nonetheless. Wonderful execution on working the theme in, and building challenge out of the most basic mechanics.

tricky-fat-cat 2019-10-10 16:27

It's a small but well made platformer, with superb art and fine level design.

bilalch213 2019-10-10 19:53

Really cool art. Amazingly polished game you have here. Even the level designs are well made. It gets annoying at some points tho. Maybe, adding coyote time might make it even better. Anyway, superrrb entry and an amazing execution!

imhanner 2019-10-10 19:54

The assets, animations and the music are soooo nice!

d1gital-cuts 2019-10-11 04:39

@bilalch213 Thanks! There actually is 0.2 seconds of coyote time, althou I suspect that it might be bugged and not work with the double jump.

gauphastus 2019-10-12 00:30

Pretty cool. Only gripe is some jumps early on are a bit annoying, not so much the distance but more the game eating my input I guess?

Regardless this is very nicely done. Has a lot of charm to it. Been looking for it for a couple of days since I saw it on a stream but couldn't track it down again 'til now. And I'm glad I did.

Props, dude.

bauke-regnerus 2019-10-12 16:58

I love the art style and the animations are great. Solid platformer, nice job!

icxon 2019-10-14 18:32

Awesome game! I wish I could see the cogs more clear since they have a really low contrast with the background on my monitor. Special thanks for autosave checkpoints. :robot:

benpeterson 2019-10-15 06:20

that was just gorgeous, really clever and on point with the theme

mapedorr 2019-10-20 11:43

One of the best entries I've played so far.

The design of the level is awesome and the way the game starts (the player can't even move the character) is pretty clever. The aesthetics and cold vibe of the game allows the player to imagine the world where it occurs. It is hard to finish it but it worths it (absolutely). I can only thing of this as the prequel to another game.

---- We also made our game using Godot and it would be great if you leave us a comment.

You complain about it being short because you spent all time on art...this is wayy beyond jam expectations! :open_mouth:

Spectacularly polished game, and the professional gameplay mechanics to go with it! I admit later levels became increasingly hard (timing jumps, pixel perfect) but alas, I assembled in the end and won! (the game exited)

Nice entry!

acronaut 2019-10-23 21:19

Thank goodness for contextual-checkpoints!

Minor-suggestions: - Add checkpoint on that spot where the bot attains a double-jump upgrade - Those animated Cogwheels are quite tricky to see against the 'giger-ific' background; minor illumination of the bot to spot hazards (perhaps try to experiment with sprite based normals for custom-lighting?) - Spotted occasional bug where (before double-jump upgrade station) that once upon a player-fail, one respawns with camera viewport-orientation upside down; thankfully the player respawns back to normal orientation after another respawn.[make a fail when you hop onto the moving platform and where you have suppose to hop off before you get crushed to the 'ground-ceiling'/'underside-turf']

Lovely work on the 'strandbeest' moving platform

Solid execution of the theme.

Solid entry of the theme & mood.

Challenging-platformer and nice touch on the ending!

Kudos on using Godot! :dizzy:

Quite curious on what other-features you had in mind (based from your description)?

brokenmirrormedia 2019-10-25 05:04

I really enjoyed this entry, the background texture was really sweet, and the animations were great! I did get stuck a bit in the part where you have to launch yourself onto the moving platform, because I couldn't actually see where the platform was (it was off screen) so it was a total guess to land it. Still, really good work, I appreciate the work that went into the audio and visuals for sure!
