I really like the punch mechanic; it gives a nice risk/reward and helps vary up the gameplay. The sound design and animation for reloading are really satisfying. I also like the 2.5D look of the enemies and the way they fly apart when killed. I will say that the game defaulting to inverted vertical mouse aim with no way to change it felt disorienting. I wound up having to disable vertical mouse aim altogether. The game also definitely feels empty and could use a few more mechanics to keep it interesting. Overall, a relatively small game, but one with a very solid presentation and an interesting core mechanic. Nice work!
@superpokeunicorn Thanks for your feedback! I had much bigger ideas as always! Sorry about the control thing, I actually added a bug fix for that. Thanks again!

The "Retry" and "Exit" buttons don't work. As a fan of these games I love this style, the game feel feels great when killing zombies! I hope you can add music and maybe a radar. I like it a lot!!!
@fosf0 Thanks for your feedback! Shooting stuff is almost always fun! Did you play on Web? If you play on Web and click Exit it will stop the game, thus stopping the buttons from working. I'll have to fix that. Thanks again!
Oh so even past winners can experience these kind of clutches. It's so frustrating when it happens but great learning experiences because what leads to them is pushing ourselves to the limit in the first place. Amazing that you scrambled something and submitted it still.
Pretty fun game :) I like the style and it feels very satisfying to punch a zombie and then open fire on a horde.
Though I found the difficulty curve ramped up insanely fast, I hardly found myself surviving longer than 40 seconds as I was swamped by zombies with no real means to escape, if the level perhaps had more verticality or more means to funnel zombies I think it'd be a great game.
@jesus-gonzalez There was a moment I considered quitting when it was obviously not going to be my best work. The idea that I have some kind of reputation to worry about did creep in a bit, like maybe i should just keep the game to myself.
I seem to ALWAYS have some kind of self doubt to overcome during LD lol, but its definitely rewarding to have pushed through! Thanks for your feedback!
@surr-sloidah Thanks for your feedback! I wish the Spawn rates were better balanced lol, consequences of having to rush in the end sorry 🙃

Awesome game. Its just so much fun shooting and going for the high score. This game is incredible at creating flow. Well done and amazing art.

The game feels like a good old-fashioned shooter. Had good time shooting zombies, the shooting has a simple, yet good feedback to a player.
Felt a little lack of sounds, all I can recall is shooting sounds, death sound and... that's it, I guess?
Difficulty jumps majorly, I died after 36 seconds of surviving, a whole horde spawned in three meters away from me.
Also, stylization jumps a lot. Environment style, zombies style, player's hands style, it's all different.
Anyways, a good one.
I really like the art (especially the exploding zombies) and the controls are solid.
I'm glad you decided to challenge yourself! Your 2D platformers are always top-notch, so seeing an FPS from you was a surprise :D
I read your description and it seems like you're already aware of some of the shortcomings as far as it being an engaging game to play. But the time put into movement and shooting was worth it for experience! Shooting was really satisfying, as was watching the monsters fly apart >:D
One (relatively) minor post-jam update that would help a BUNCH would be an enemy radar. Most of my deaths felt anticlimactic because I would just get a "DEAD" screen because an enemy spawned behind me.
Overall though it's very cool to see you branching out!
@j0ye & @bangkerpow Thanks! Glad yall liked it
@witchgf Thanks for your feedback! Def wish I could have more audio in there. Also too bad about the balance, I think something broke with the spawners and mobs just explode in size lol. Good point about the stylization, I think I need to learn harder into the Zombie's style! Thanks again!
@cameron-paxton Thanks! I appreciate your feedback! I wonder what kind of 2D platformer I would have made if I gone that direction   A radar is def on the way, along with some other much needed tlc!
Game looks absolutely amazing. I love the hand animations and the zombie death effect is really cool (even the bullet trails are really nice). The punching mechanic is really neat as well and very satisfying to mow down enemies. The only real problem is that the player dies instantly when attacked.

I'm a sucker for snappy 2d/3d FPS shooters with snappy controls so I got a kick out of this! I had an issue though where my camera would drift which made it difficult to play. The sound effects were very satisfying and the visuals were nice and crunchy. I wish that I didn't get instakilled from behind though. Overall very fun!
Really nice! I personally dont play survival shooter games but this one was pretty engaging, I wanted to try overr and over again. I really wish there was more audio cues for the zombie, it gets pretty unrewarding to always have to check my vision every single time. Also I wish there were some more interesting mechanics such as maybe revive or speed or jump etc...
@hawke-games Thanks! That is an incredible score! lol
@quite-good Thank you! Glad you had fun!!! :)
@agent-peterson Thank you! I'm already working on some more mechanics, I actually added a speed boost to the power up already so we're on our way!

I had fun playing this, it's rare to see first person shooters in LD! Good job.
I sometimes got killed from behind so it made me shoot and do a 360 to check my surrounding every time after that run. I think some zombie sounds approaching you could've helped with that.
Congrats on making a fun game!
Feels great to play, really satisfying shooting the zombies and quite challenging with all the spawns. The gunplay is good and the core mechanics work just as they should. Love the retro Doom/Wolf3D/Duke Nukem vibes. The one big thing that I think is missing for a simple game like this would be some spatial audio cues from the zombies, I mostly died from getting snuck up on from behind even though I was spinning back and forth like a mad top, haha. I still had a lot of fun with it though, nice work!

cool game, felt satisfying to fire, was very difficult though!
Cool game, it was satisfying to play and music would also be nice to add as the mood of the rest is so good!

Really impressive to have such a nice feeling FPS in the time frame! The zombies and area look really cool, and I would definitely love to play a full version of a zombie game in this setting.
My biggest complaint would be I just kept dying from a zombie behind me but.. I guess that's probably realistic ;)
Nice game.
I tried playing the game with my gamepad at first. I don't know if the problem was with my gamepad, but the aim sensivity was too low. I played it with keyboard & mouse then. As said before by other people, audio from the zombies that approach us from back would help the game.

The FPS aspect is well crafted and feels very good to play (and the punch mechanic feels great too). The zombies looks really great, and I feel you can very good at this by abusing the punch mechanic. I found it quite hard tho, there is always a zombie coming from somewhere I wasn't looking. The pack of zombie that spawns after a little while is scary af !

That was a really nice game I enjoyed it a lot, I liked the punch power up and how risky it was but the buff was worth it to get a lot of kills at the end before being overrun :D Great solo project, awesome work!

This was fun! It gets near impossible without cheesing it once the big hordes start coming in, but that's part of the challenge. The full auto boost is very satisfying when mowing down zombies. The graphical style is also good looking.
Some kind of warning signal, similar to the directional hurt markers FPS games would be nice too, Since the zombies are silent. It feels a bit unfair that you can suddenly just get killed, unless you're constantly spinning around.
I noticed you can stand on the ledge here: 6G0gdAS.jpeg and just shoot the zombies spawning in the forest. The ones spawning behind you wont be able to reach you, so you can just turn around, punch them for a free boost, and then shoot the forest zombies.
Good work on this!
Awesome submission! The shooting felt satisying and I really liked the melee mechanic, high risk high reward. Also really like how the enemy sprites break into pieces on death, very cool. Balance could be better and music would be cool but otherwise really enjoyed this one! Animations for player also solid.

Its cool to see a completely different kind of game from you than we use to! Unfortunately it also showed me how bad I am at FPS  The controls like shooting felt good and the punch mechanic seems to be cool, even though I think I was not able to really properly utilize it.
Maybe the zombies either need some sound or there has to be a minimap. Every time I looked into one direction for like 2 seconds one of them catched me from the opposite direction without me noticing. Probably I have to run way more  But it still was a fun game
One side note: On Firefox for macOS I had a strange bug where pressing A or ARROW_LEFT moved me to the right. Chrome was fine and I suspect this is some local problem by me, but wanted to let you know of it nonetheless
Moving and shooting feels great, so good job on that. Unfortunately, the enemies not making sounds, especially when they're near you, is pretty game breaking, since the player does not have 360 degrees of vision and they can just spawn behind you.

Really like this simplistic old-school 3D art style! Gameplay core is nice and I hope you do a post-jam where you expand it with your original ideas such as the puzzle mechanics and so on, would be nice to se what it could become!
Nice work!

I really like your 2D drawing and animation, especially the player. Has a kind of flash animation/newground feel in the best way. Also like the rings on the bullet trail. The shooting mechanic was pretty fun, especially with the punch and power up mixed in. Lack of sounds on the enemies made the game a bit frustrating though, I often died to enemies I couldn't see.
Seeing your comment above, I'm glad you pushed through and submitted anyway despite your doubts. It's just about challenging yourself, regardless of level of success you still learn something. And that comment pushed me to check out your itch page and find Below the Ocean. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the demo and I want to play more. For me it feels on par with Celeste, with a mechanic just as innovative. I think your reputation is safe ;)
Neat retro-styled game with easily understandable mechanics :gun: :boom:
It has some great mystery story potential! And it will be good to have a minimap or a radar
Very tight controls, I think this turned out great. The machine gun buff you receive from the successful melee hits is great. I love a classic overpowered pistol that rips through enemies, and this nails that feeling. I like the sprite art and flat textures mixed with the low poly, it's clear and readable and is expressive. I think there's a bit of fine tuning that could be done on the melee to make it feel a bit stronger and connect a bit easier, but the controls overall as well as the shooting play just right. Impressive, especially for a first foray into FPS. You'll have to teach me how not to fear 3D one day, I feel like I could live a lifetime in 2D game dev and barely scratch the surface. Really well done.

Hello again! I gotta give you massive credit for trying something new. I loved your platformer styled games and seeing an FPS was new. It's unfortunate you didn't get everything you wanted in there, but it's great you got something finished and working! I hope to see more from you as I'm sure your improvement in a new field can rapidly increase!
That said, here are my thoughts: -Controller is a bit tough. Doesn't feel quite right, and unfortunately I'm used to higher end stuff like Apex Legends or CSGO. So I understand how much of a challenge a good FPS controller can be. -The 2.5d pixel art is very nice and the zombie design is good. I love the glowing eyes, in fact I actually wonder how you did that. It looks creepy and feels creepy. -But it's very very difficult very early. I feel like I could have a lot of fun with the punch and boost mechanic, but I had absolutely no idea when a zombie would sneak up on me and kill me. So I did not have much time to play with what I think was the strongest part of your game. -The mood is good. Zombies sneaking up definitely gave me one of those enjoyable jump scares, so massive props for giving an authentic horror Doom style vibe!
Overall, definitely a great entry for a clutch kind of experience.
I hope to see more of your stuff in the future and maybe even a post mortem / video! I hope you have a great rest of the jam and wish you best!!

Hey, man! I liked the graphics style, and atmosphere feels immersive! It was exciting to playing, especially getting the fire rate boost after melee attack.
There are a couple of things I want to mention : * Difficulty level increases too fast, it seems impossible to deal with so huge horde of enemies.
* Because of its FPS game, your vision is restricted of only direction you're looking at the moment, and enemies often one-shots you from the back. Maybe you should consider adding some radar, it would help to figure out from which direction you'll receive next attack)
* The battle arena space feels a bit close. It seems doesn't enough to maneuvering when you're fighting with really huge amount of zombies.
Anyway, good job!
It's a great game for its niche, I really like what you've done there. By the way, are there any people here who like to play shooters? What do you like to play the most now?

Hey folks, I'm especially fond of playing CS:GO now. By the way, I'm looking for some insight on Xplay servers. I'm thinking of renting one for my CS:GO games, but I'm not sure if it's worth it.
2023-03-12 08:53
In my experience, [Xplay Servers](https://xplay.gg/) are top-notch when it comes to reliability and customization. With various server locations, game modes, and plugins, you have a lot of flexibility to tailor your server to your preferences. The control panel is also easy to navigate, which is a major plus. However, it's important to keep in mind that Xplay servers can be quite pricey compared to other options. So, be sure to weigh the cost against the value it brings before making a decision. Ultimately, if you're a serious player and want full control over your server, Xplay is definitely worth considering. Just make sure to do your research beforehand and read reviews to ensure it's the right fit for you.

Everyone loves different games. This game is one of my favorites. However, it doesn't make money. So I occasionally play the gambling game Aviator
The principle of the game is very simple and it is not necessary to learn the rules. I think it is necessary to make this game more popular because it is really very easy and develops intuition
