Amazing visual and take on theme! Like the skill system its amazing
This is such a great work. The game hooked me. Absolutely like it
another hidden gem
awesome game, very fun. I loved the wizards voice. great job!
Amazing concept and execution. Extra props to whoever had the thought "our game would be better if we tilted it 15 degrees" because that really helps the vibe.
This was fun and a cool read on the theme, and no matter how many times win32.dll failed on those emails I kept on trying. Great work, and thanks for sharing your game!
What a cool take to use the installation wizard hahaha. The perspective did the trick for me, idk why but it just scratched an itch i didnt knew i had. some voice variation for the different spells would have been cool cause it gets a bit annoying the more u progress, but honestly its not even worth mentioning cause i genuinly have nothing else to say since its a really solid and polished entry <3
The commitment to the installation wizard theme is so well executed; it gives the whole experience a really distinct retro vibe. It's a super creative way to handle a simple concept, and the little animations really pulled me into the world. Great job on this entry!
Oh wow, this was funny! Really great use of the theme too! Now I understand why the progress bar of installation wizards were so imprecise. Love the wizards voice too (esp. FIREBALL hah), sounds just like a windows 95 wizard should I think. Haven't beaten all levels yet, but gotta try it more later! A windows build using a frameless window would be great, for an authentic installation experience.
Great seeing you guys this jam again! This was a bit different from your previous games, very cool to see!
Nice dungeonsynth.
Puzzle roguelikes are always a treat. I found the difficulty level just right the whole time, had to redo some levels a few times but it's quick and fun to play so no complaints there. Hard to critique anything really, this is a really solid jam game.
I felt so dumb playing this! I don't know what it was but I killed myself over and over and had the hardest time actually coming up with strategies! 😆 But I think that is all a me problem tbh. I love the idea of playing inside an installation wizard as a wizard. The little characters and their animations were cute and felt personal. One thing that I don't think I mentioned in the video, but when placing a backdoor/mine on top of tar, it became very hard to spot later. But in a way I guess that is realistic, though maybe not intended from a game design perspective. I found it interesting, but at times also frustrating, figuring out to transport myself without casting spells. Indeed a problem I don't think I've ever encountered in a game.
I did enjoy my stay and I think if I had been smarter and not gotten stuck on the levels so long, then I'd really have loved it! So very good entry and superb direction and consistency through out the game.

Lol, definitely my favorite take on any theme ever! And very well executed! The spell casting makes sense, and the specific spell movements work quite well. Lot's of thoughtful level design! And nice sounds. Really, I like this entry a lot.
@wles Ha-ha, that's indeed 15 degrees on the horizontal axis and 5 on the vertical one :D I think I got the idea from this talk on how to juice up classic roguelikes: www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSYVQc7cH-4 Thanks for playing and glad you enjoyed it :)
@bearcage That indeed probably is the deadliest level in the game with emails splashing fire and running away from you in an inconvenient diagonal pattern, glad you liked the game enough to give it a couple of tries :) Thanks for playing!
@dekisenpaitm Voice lines are same-y and repeating because you have to say the name of the spell with the same intonation every time, otherwise the magic won't happen ;) Every wizard must know that! :P Glad you liked our game and thank you for playing :D
@eugenik Funny thing about those bounce animations on characters, initially I made them all out of sync with each other so that it would look more 'realistic' and less repeating, but it turned out to look better if everything bounces in sync with each other - gave it more of a dance/performance feeling. Thank you for playing the game and glad you enjoyed your time with it :)
@detectivelosos u know what, fricking fair xD. Never managed to become a wizard, you've exposed me, I work as a part time magician
@jefvel There is a Next button in the corner that lets you skip a level - just in case you want to skip any particular one and see all the rest, mentioning it just in case, since it blends-in a bit too well :D Don't know if it helps now, but the game does fail to telegraph a couple of impotant bits of info: when you hit a daemon with CLEAR CACHE, it gets stunned for a turn, same with TARBALL - daemon gets stunned for several turns, knowing this helps a lot cleaning up those tricky CD and Email daemons. @annie-owl did even ask me to make some visuals during the jam specifically for that, but I forgot >.< This game probably feels a bit different from our previous ones because we don't usually do grid-based turn-based games. But we are currently trying to make our previous ludum game into a full-er release, and it's grid-based and turn-based, and @annie-owl does a lot of puzzle/level design on it, so I think some of that translated into this one as well. Good shout on the borderless windows build, we should make one even just as a joke :D Thank you for playing and glad you liked it :)
@local-minimum Amazing and very in-depth review as always, thank you very much for that, and for the playthrough video ❤️ Watching it highlights that the game fails to show daemons getting stunned for a turn when getting hit by CLEAR CACHE, and getting stunned for multiple turns when stepping into TARBALL. I think that info would've helped a lot to get a better hang on the spells. During the jam @annie-owl did even ask me to make some visuals specifically for that, but I forgot >.< Also it seems like a more gradual introduction to some spell tricks would've helped as well. Like a more restricted level with a single CD daemon that forces you to clear it with ROLLBACK or TARBALL+CLEAR CACHE combo. Right now it seems like the game expects players to get used and intuitively feel the spells way too quickly. But anyways, thanks a lot for not giving in to frustration, not giving up and making it to the full software installation without skipping any levels 🙌
@nathmate Hey! Thanks, glad you liked my music 😊 It was a personal time record for me this jam - managing to set up a virtual instrument and record the melody (as simple as it is) in under one hour before the jam ends! Felt like a rush! As for the difficulty, it seems like you are an avid player of spatial puzzle games, because most people seem to be struggling with these puzzles quite a bit. Well, guess you are the target audience for it :D Thank you for playing, and happy you like it and got to the end!
I loved creating magical spells by moving around. You have to think tactically about how to move to cast each spell and where you’ll end up. And the visuals are absolutely stunning.
Very nice entry! I enjoyed it very much, thank you. =)
Well done! Simple but interesting enemies and a great overall vibe. The clever use of meme was a nice touch :)
This was tough as nails for my tiny brain, but I'm proud to present my certificate of completion: screenshot.png
Overall very cohesive and polished entry! Lots of humor sprinkled throughout (sounds, messages etc.)
