Really wish space had been jump and S dive instead. Instincts kept getting me killed lol. Good game. Procedurally generated, yes? Had fun with the Poppins!
@mrs-wheelsx Yea I realised that the jump and dive control would be a bit confusing, just couldn't think of a decent control scheme otherwise. yea its somewhat procedurally generated, bunch of build segments that are chosen at random.
That explains why it felt precedural, and not at the same time. The effect is great! And really smooth! Good job :)
It's very cool, but I think it needs to be a little faster.

Love it! Best score: 10. Great level generation, very dynamic music loop! Like the other comment, at first I wished jump was on SPACE and dive on S, but by retrying I've come to accept the controls. Cool game, thank you :)

Sweet game. simple and has a nice artstyle. Love it (except the controlls /j)!
fun game, gameplay feels a bit like slow motion downwell (in a positive way), more deliberation and strategy in pathing but still a good amount of room for mechanical skill expression, like min-maxing uptime of the dive attack to traverse the level as quickly/efficiently as possible. really nice & polished presentation too!
For a game like this I think the controls should be as responsive and inertia free as possible Also, it is not intuitive to understand what will do damage and what will not.

It's good that there's a tutorial in the game, even for such a simple game, it's still important. I liked the music, it's fun, and it's nice to play for a long time.

I was worried that the controls would be confusing since I'm used to using space as a jump button, but when I started playing it was never a problem. The level design is incredibly cute and moody and I love the skulls! The art and animations bring this idea together and create a really fun experience. Congrats!
This is a really coole game, a little rough on the hitboxes which was annoying at times. I also died all the time because I pressed space to jump but just digged myself in the ground... Still the idea is super nice and it was very fun to play. Great achievement for a gamejam!
I liked a lot the gameplay, I think it could become a super addictive game haha. My only feedback is that sometimes I don't know why I die. I know that you can die due to time running out or by attacking to the ground or touching the red elements (spikes, etc). Is there another lose condition?
This one was so cool. I reached a score of 30 and got nervous lol. I was awed when the skull pattern appeared. I think this one is in my personal top from what I played so far!

Like some others have also suggested the controls are a little hard to get used to, in one round I never jumped I just dive onto enemies and then float the rest of the time, when I did land I instantly died, diving into the ground. Two possible suggestions: make S dive and space jump, or if you press dive when on or very close to the ground negate it?
Otherwise good fun entry!

The only little thing I could suggest is to have a different sfx and animation for each type of death so the player will always know why he dies
My best score was 21! Killing enemies with an umbrella is the best part. It felt a little unfair sometimes when I couldn't tell why I died. Sometimes I could hit the ground with a little more speed than I intended and be fine, other times I seemed to die just from jumping? Despite that, I had a lot of fun with it, and made many (failed) attempts to get close to the dev high score!
It was a great experience! I loved bouncing off the bats with the umbrella. Same as the previous commenter, I died when holding the umbrella close to the ground. Which was a bit confusing. Really nice game! Didn't expect procedural level generation. Everything is well polished. Great job!
I love that you added a dev high score in the intro screen, that instantly made me go 'Oh, it's ON now...' and lock in haha. Turns out there's no way I can beat that score, but at least I did have fun dying over and over again!
Jokes aside, the polish on this game is really impressive-- all the visuals are tied together really well, and the game loop is really smooth. The procedural aspect kept it from getting too repetitive, but over time you still get better at each chunk of level that you've practiced.
Seems like plenty of people have mentioned that some of the deaths felt a little unfair, but aside from that it turned out really solid. Well done to both :)
The music and arcade-style pixel art are spot on 👌. It’s so satisfying landing a good stomp on an enemy! I’m nowhere near a high score, but I’m loving the challenge.

bruh, up arrow doesn't jump, but w jumps. i had no clue you could jump in this game. also, make it so you can restart the game without using the mouse. the game doesn't use the mouse, very annoying to retry.
also, the game is too easy and the timer seems irrelevant. i got 85 points before i realized it'll never end and killed myself

Fun game! Got to 52 points after a few tries. The time gained by getting points might be too much, since it never seemed to go below 50, and you could accidentally die by pressing space while standing still on the ground. Other than that it was a nice experience, with a cool artstyle :) Great work!

The idea of the game is cool to go down into caves with an umbrella, I think it lacks a possibility to dodge, to do a little fighting or to bounce maybe? I really like this graphic style
I really enjoyed the art style, especially the tileset against the black background, it looked great. The music matched the arcade vibe perfectly, and the gameplay was fun too. Solid entry, keep up the great work!
very interesting idea and a cool arcade game. one thing you should change is when you are on ground and press space you die (even if you just stand for a while there). Besides that it is a very funny game.
Fun graphics, audio, and environment design! I liked the twist of using the umbrella as a weapon on enemies. As some other commenters noted, there seems to be a bug where pressing space on solid ground immediately kills the character...or maybe that's intentional?
I love this! It's like a more chilled out Downwell :) art style is cute and the music is super catchy. The gameplay is great and could be expanded on quite easily I think
Very fun! I really liked the multipurpose umbrella mechaninc... It works to break your fall, to attack, to jump higher! Is there anything it doesn't do?? The level designs were also very fun. There are so many different ones! The cute art and music really put you in the mood for the game!
Took me a while figuring out if I dash into the ground, while still on the ground it'd kill me :3. So I kept pressing space just before I'll fall and I'd die, other than that it's a lovely simple game, which an addictive gameplay loop and some lovely graphics! Overall highly enjoyed ^_^
For some reason, the first few enemies I hit with an umbrella I'd still die, even though I was in the air.
After like 3 restarts, that stopped happening and the game played as expected, I ended up getting a high score of 45, so if the dev score really is 42, I win lol
Seriously, great job! I loved the artwork and the music. Kind of reminds me of Downwell but with an umbrella to slow you down.
