Spiked all the guys, understood how to play from third time then it was easy ;)
Took me a second to figure out how it worked but after that it was decent, nice entry!
Interesting defence game. I would've preferred some time to setup some initial structures before being attacked but after awhile you adapt to the quicker pace 😄
You know, the bits I like about this A LOT are the floating menu front end with the rotating camera. It just sets up the game really nicely. I also love the music! Seems to suit the atmosphere really well. nice.
I struggled a bit to run the game on my machine. The live url didn't work for me, and the linux binary requires a newer glibc version than I have. I managed to play by running the web build locally.
IMO the gameplay itself is somewhat boring (and that game timer should be *much* shorter), but I just love the visuals and audio.
The little synthetic waltz is so simple but really works for me. It's also apparently all generated at runtime, which is awesome (although CPU spikes would trigger audio stutters, which is unfortunate). I'm definitely taking notes.
The minimal textures and SSAO make the visuals look kind of messy/incomplete, but in a way that I think actually works really well. It's like one of those noisy preview images you get in path traced renderers crossed with the muted bendy-and-the-ink-machine look.
Nice game! The mood is well done, I really like the view, the lighting and the surroundings. Gamedesign is the weaker part of the game, you went for a lot of options for building stuff but it doesn't seem to be any real need to use one over the other in any given situation. Everything tends to work just as well it seems. Still, well done especially for compo!
If I had to guess, you ran out of time to balance the game? It took me like 5 attempts to survive the first wave haha. Giving a player a chance to understand the game more before the challenge came in would've been good, actually would've made a big difference to the overall feel of the game. (I wonder how many people that rated the game actually got past the first wave haha). Quick to implement ideas for that would be putting the trigger behind building the first thing in the game, or adding a button for "start wave".
I persisted and managed to make survive some of the waves. Probably wasn't going to try to survive for 20 minutes as the game suggested.
Graphics look nice :)
