Very solid game! I chuckled at the end when you just drop into a puddle of lava haha
The jumping and movement could use a little more polish and the level design could be a little bit more interesting. Also the game was a bit dark and the background was too similar to the blocks which made it hard to see.
But considering this is a 48h game it is pretty cool! Well done :ok_hand:
Cool platformer. The ending inspired by Portal)
Very simple but really solid. The jumping felt comfortable and the difficulty was decently balanced.
One of the most complete games I played so far. Simple yet challenging. Level design is really smart, nice visuals too. Very well done
fun little platformer! Though it stops playing around real fast lmao. Enjoyed the difficulty spike.

Simple but fun. I like the levels designed around those single-use jump pads, which mean that I can't stop moving. I think I would have liked more levels. I'm really impressed by the detailed animated character.
I like the ending of where we just jump into the magma. I enjoyed this straightforward platformer. The only part that was slightly frustrating was the jump pad by the end with the two spikes. Since if you didnt jump you just had to die and start over. (Very mild frustration) Good job dude.

Really great game, short in terms of gameplay, but enjoyable overall. Needed some music though :P, the sound effects didnt excite me either. Overall a great entry!

Simple but fun! The lava looks super cool, and I like the protagonist. I definitely kept forgetting that the trampolines disappeared after you jumped on them once, so I appreciate that you could restart. My favorite part was the section that was all trampolines. Finishing the game by jumping into lava was quite funny. Nicely done!
I was torn on the jumping. On one hand starting the character immediately downward the minute you let go of the jump button felt weird, but then after a couple of jumps I started to appreciate some of the control that it gave me.
The running and jumping animation is nice but I would have liked to see more. Something on the springing up? Maybe something when you fall into the lava (magma?)

@sir-syko I agree with the jumping and movement feeling a bit off. I wanted something responsive, but it felt a bit floaty, no momentum for turning around also made it feel strange. I definitely struggled with the lighting and it came out even darker in webgl with none of the hdr stuff working. Going to study up on that for next time! Thanks!
@azakharov Thanks for playing! I've never actually played Portal, but cool that they did something similar.
@indigowolf Thanks for playing! I'm glad the jumping didn't hurt the experience. I think it still needs a few tweaks, but as long as it didn't hold you back, Great!
@dimaswift Glad you liked the level design! Aside from the character model, I think that ate up the most time and is where I would like to spend more time in the future.
@famicon80 Thanks for playing and glad you enjoyed the difficulty spike! :)
@reheated Thanks! It means a lot that people liked the character. It's my first time really trying to animate something in Blender (and actually ate up a ton of time). I intended on having one more downward section at minimum, but didn't have time unfortunately. Time management and a schedule are on my todo list for next time :)
@pookipoot Thanks for the comments and glad you enjoyed it. I thought that part might be a bit frustrating and thought about changing it, but it was to close to the submission deadline unfortunately. Will look in to better time management for next time!
@kitsomo Music and sound are definitely not my strong suits, haha. I actually really hated the jump sound, but thought it needed something with no background. I wanted to add just some ambience, but couldn't figure it out. Maybe next time!
@knipsch Thanks for playing! Glad you had fun :) Getting soft-locked would definitely kill the experience, so I'm glad that the retry helped someone out.
@minibobbo Glad that you were able to get used to the jumping. As mentioned above, I'd have liked to play with it a bit more. Maybe increase gravity a bit for a few frames instead of just setting the y-velocity to 0 would have helped smooth it out. As for the animations, I really wanted to add more but simply ran out of time. I spent a bit too much time on the character as it was, but would definitely flesh it out further going forward should I continue. Death animations were on my polish list, but I didn't make it that far :)
Very nice little compo entry! I really appreciated the generous checkpointing, it gave me enough incentive to reach the end credits screen (such as it is lol) rather than rage quitting when the difficulty started ramping up.
The player was neatly animated and rigged, looked really nice. Jumping felt a bit weird to be honest, might be better if it was a bit more snappy. Great job!

Pretty cool! Animations (The Lava is kind of psychedelic ;-)) are good, fine, small tutorial. The movement felt quite precise. The camera was sometimes not showing what was coming, so there is some try and error in it.
Overall, I had much fun ending the game in the Lava :-)

Thank you for making a platform game with great controls. And overall is this a good and fun little platform game. It could have used some music, and a bit more checkpoints, but it not big issues for Compo game. Well done.
Very detailed character, looks really nice. Also nice looking magma.
Environment could be a bit brighter (like glowing from lava), or maybe just more contrast between background and tiles. Or maybe just making the itch.io theme darker/closer to game colors, so it is easier for eyes to focus on the game.
Also would have liked the camera to be a bit more zoomed out so I could see where I needed to fall/land.
Regarding gameplay balance, it was a nice challenge, not too difficult, not too easy. Works well with reasonable distance between waypoints.
Overall, nice entry, I enjoyed beating the game (and then having a nice relaxing soak in magma :D)

Fun platformer! As others have said a little bit of music would have made a big difference. If you've never done music for a jam before I recommend beepbox.co, It is fairly simple to put down a few bars and get it to sound passable in just a few minutes and exports to mp3 for easy insertion into a game. It goes well with the chiptune sound effects you already got in.
Some of the jumps were pretty precise later on in the levels but overall making a short game a little harder is a good way to add some extra play time so it isn't that bad.
The character model is great and overall very fun game.

I enjoyed the game, and was sad it ended so quickly! The things I noticed were: - the lack of music (which I completely understand! :P) - the colors being too close - it was kinda hard to see things, at least on my screen - I'd say gameplay-wise it's fine, but a bit more feedback for deaths would have been cool to know which part we died (maybe a slight delay?)
Overall it's fun, and I liked the character animations/concept! (the jump mechanic is kinda off-putting at first, but I would say the level design used it efficiently, so that's awesome!)

I enjoyed the trampoline mechanic! It was slightly frustrating that I got set back so far when I died. More save points would be good! I noticed the magma hit boxes were fairly forgiving too - thanks ;) Well done!

Thanks everybody for the detailed feedback! :)
@phlip45 Thanks for the recommendation! I'll keep beepbox in mind for the future.
Nice platformer, solid level design! The jumping feels a bit stiff, but I liked that you can stop the jump early by releasing the button. The character model looks nice. Fun game!
Pretty decent platformer.
Wish a brighter color had been used for the level geometry. Current color combined with the bright lava makes is kinda hard to see what's what.

Nice level design, plays very smoothly. Some background music would really have added to the mood.

hey nice mechanics, the checkpoint was a good idea, I think the jump is a bit high. Maybe to keep the trampoline after use. Force a player to restart the game just because did a wrong jump its mean! Also you could add some music! nice game, congrats
